      Huh?

    • +2

      Wut?

    • +3

      You say what now?

    • +1

      "Please explain" - P.Hanson

    • +1

unless you bought at peak. In which case this might be the right phone for you

  • +6

I'm starting to struggle when trying to identify the differences between all these Motorola phone deals recently…

    • +2

The whole point of numerous models from a single brand is to confuse consumers so that consumers will think this brand is so good that it can produce so many models to satisfy the needs of the market.

      • +1

        Quantity over quality really.

But these phones do have a purpose. They are not total potatoes. They do work to their price point.

      • +2

No, the point is to target different models to different retailers, so they can claim to beat the competition but in actual fact no one else sells their exact models.

Not a terrible deal but last week's G82 offer at JB was $3 more and it came with a bigger screen, faster processor, more RAM (6GB v 4GB), 5G, stereo speakers, fast charging and, likely, more updates.

    • +4

Yeah. Hard to recommend this when we got spoiled by the g82 for $200

    • +4

yep fair enough. I posted based on it's popularity last time it was on ozb, and this has a further $40 drop.

      • +6

To be fair to you. The g82 for $200 was a price error.

So this deal is ok but the bar is now set higher and it would now be hard to justify getting this.

        • Was that confirmed as a price error?

          • +4

@mbck: Well they corrected it mid deal.

Plus the deal was $200 off $499 price.

The price in the cart was showing $200 when you added the discount code.

So very likely someone did a boo boo in entering the final price.

        • ah good to know it was a price error. I missed out and it set a bar, but knowing it was in error makes me realise that expecting a similar bargain is a bit unrealistic.

          • @huggsymersh: Wait till black friday. Im sure there will be more deals.

            • @xoom: true. although as has been mentioned in this thread, the moto range is so extensive that it's super confusing figuring out which model might be the most suitable for your needs. The price error on a higher end model made the decision pretty simple for once!

The G31 has 6gb/128gb, 5G and fast charging (source: I have one - you must be looking at a foreign model). They're both on Android 12.

The screen is 5mm larger on the G82. The G82 does have a slightly faster processor and it does have some extra bells and whistles. For the same money you'd choose G82, that doesn't make the G31 bad in its absence.

  • +1

Anyone buy the g82 impulsively that would like to sell it to me? 😆

    • +3

I have a cousin in Nigeria that would like to talk to you.

      • +2

Is that cousin stuck on an oil platform by any chance?

      • +2

        Is your cousin a prince

      • +2

He's a prince stuck on an oil platform.

      • +1

        He has my number…

  • Liked, not for the product, but the spec on title.
MediaTek = no for me, easy :)
    (Simply subjective btw)

  • Is this good for simple YouTube and simple games like Fluffies & Candy Crush? No lags (not Internet lags) as in slow performance.

    • No. You would need an iphone 14 pro max 1TB for that.

Just kidding it would be fine.

Not a very good deal consider you can get Moto G51 for $199 or Moto Edge 20 Fusion for $249 before.

There will be better deal if you wait.

  • I got one a while back coming from a Pixel 3xl. Very happy at the money I paid. Never had a phone with a battery life like this - performs like the 3XL but for cameras - which are "ok".

  • Anyone know how this compares to the lg k41? My kiddo has just smashed their screen

  • How would this compare to a moto edge fusion 20?

    • Edge 20 has the edge on the g31. Yes pun intended.
