Travel to Japan

Planning to Japan in January and we checked the entry requirements need 3 doses of vaccine for every one, that ok I and my wife already got 3 doses
Question, my daughter is under 14 and only had 2 doses and GP not allowed the 3 doses age under 16. Does it means the only way to go is the PCR test?

According to this post on Whirlpool (quoting the Japanese embassy webpage as the source), children under 18 are exempt when travelling with their fully vaccinated parents.

Not a great source, but hopefully points you in the right direction to find out some more info.

Do you want me to call the Embassy for you and ask?

    • Nah better to post of Ozbargain so they can then play Chinese whispers.

We need no common sense here.

this may be dropped completely before you go..

  • Has anyone entered Japan lately - do they actually check the certificate? Do they scan the QR code?

Yes, flew into Japan very recently on a stopover into SK.

They do check every single piece of paper, do your prep and get ready for it - also expect long wait times going through immigration and especially customs.

  • You can download SOS app otherwise you have to go through interview and documentaion process to prove you have had injections.

When you get to customs area you need to fill in form available from circular stand before you join queue at Customs. I joined queue before I realised this process.

Also wasted time trying to buy phone sim and data. Short term stay only qualify for data only SIM. Only long term phone contracts available.

Best to download Line or Whats App and organise your contacts to use it. Line is very popular in Japan.
