7950X is cheaper via scorptec ebay https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/265981212957.
$985.15 regular, $964.41 ebay plus, $917 with targeted code, and further 3% cashback if you pay with ebay gift cards.

    • They jacked the price up, even with plus it's 1098. This deal is better.

      • It was this price before, I managed to get it for $890 with targeted code and discounted gift cards

    • For what

      • +1

        Black friday? Idk

      • +2

        Because meme.

Hit neg if there is no justification as it's not a helpful comment.

        • yup.. apes all hodl together.

      • +2

        3D versions.

        • Im holding out for these too. Moore's Law is Dead says they are going to be dominate for gaming.

          • @Noppy: omfg that channel has no clues at all what they're talking about imo. they speculate and fanboy with no actual facts.

  • +1

In those peace the 7600x will be 299 on Black Friday.

    • yeah thats not gonna happen mate

      • +3

It dropped almost $100 in 40 days.

        • +3

Is there another processor launch between now and then that will put downward pressure on the price of the 7600x?

What do you think is an acceptable price difference with the 13600k?

          • @ihfree: 13600k is amazing. Get It and b660 mortar for 170 on ebay + ddr4 and you are good to go

            • +7

@Dienk: I think 13th gen is wasted on DDR4, and K SKUs on B660. Would suggest B550 and 5800X3D for a similiar total cost.

              • @reactor-au: It still goes okay if you use decent DDR4. This is using the patriot steel B-Die that sells on Amazon for $150-180 for 16gb. Granted the 7700X in the benches is only using DDR5 5200 so would be a bit higher with their sweet spot 6000. Does vary with games though.. some like the low latency some the higher bandwidth.

                https://pctuning.cz/article/intel-core-i5-13600k-perfektni-h…

            • @Dienk: Can't find any that is 170 tho, which store are you referring to?

  • Okay those prices are a lot more reasonable.
7700X is actually a good deal now if you ignore platform costs. Which you shouldn't.

    • Encouraging for me, I decided against a new AM4 build a month ago, so its good to known waiting until next year will probably have good results if MBs come down

      • They will. IMHO depending on your workload, the next iteration would be worth waiting for, because by that point everything else should be reasonably priced.

    • The price is basically what the 1700 platform was when I built mine back in 2017.

Edit: I think the issue is that there isn't really a 'budget' board currently. I believe my mid range x370 board was 300+.

      • DDR5 is also still pretty inflated if you dont want those crappy 4800MHz kits that somehow have worse CL than 6000 kits.

        • +1

          Entry (3200C16) G Skill Trident Z was $280+ for 16gb back in 2017.

          5600 C36 G Skill Trident Z5 is $390 for 32gb.

So while comparing it to today's prices it seems overpriced, it really is basically the same cost as the original Ryzen series was when moving to the new platform.

          • +1

@filmer: Yeah you're right. I guess the difference is in the competition
Intel isn't charging the same amount (or more) for some quad core which is only good at gaming.
And AMD's last gen CPUs aren't pure garbage like they were back then.

  • +1

    Good deal! I picked up a 7700x for $599 2 weeks ago :')

  • Great deal, picked up the 7700x

  • +3

Amazing. Makes you want to stretch for the 7900x. Though the 7700x is plenty for gaming.

  • +2

lol, now just wait for the x670e mb drop price.

  • Going to upgrade my wife’s 9 years old intel i3
    Thinking Ryzen5 is good enough
Any recommendations on MB that is good in value? (Don’t need O/C or dual display or crossfire)

    • Any B650. I went for Gigabyte because it doesn't have all the useless bloat and has plenty of I/O

  • +2

Not selling as well as AMD hoped it seems, not surprising with all the deals on 5800X3D and 5600/X/g going around.

  • +1

    AMD Ryzen 5 7600X $448, Ryzen 7 7700X $568, Ryzen 9 $799 Delivered @ KS Computer via Amazon AU
    on 11/10/2022.
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/735887

I said hold, BUT someone downvote my comments!!!!!!!

  • The 7900x is still showing as $849, not $749

    • It was $749 at the time of posting.

  • how much do AM5 mobo's go for with these bad boys

    • which MOBO for AM5***

    • Cheapest is $299 right now.
It was $255 on sale at scoptec yesterday though so maybe something will happen on black friday.
Don't know if you want the absolute cheapest board though

  • +1

Actually all these deals are with BPCTech and still showing the discounted price. OP should update.

    • Thx! Updated.

7800X3D $399 would demolish Intel and make everyone pee their pants to upgrade. But knowing AMD, they will release it at $780 in 3 months.

    • +2

Not sure why on earth you think they'd ever release for $399, this year, next year, or even 5 years ago. That's cheaper than the 1700x launched for (first gen ryzen), the 5600x (last gen), and far far cheaper than the 5800x3d launched for, and pricing has only gotten worse. I mean they could release it for $700 and it would still demolish everything else for cache heavy applications, if it lives up to the hope.

I think $800 is more likely, maybe more, and compared to the last 5 years of cpu industry it would be "reasonable".

      • Because the marketing department at AMD has convinced you that an X3D is a premium feature. It's not. They just gimped the 7000 series to milk it at higher prices for X3D range later which unlocks the true potential for 7000 series and what it should have been from day 1. The tech was ready last gen.

        • From a supply/demand, even if that's hopped up on marketing, it will easily sell for $700-$800, because it is a premium feature for some people that want a large cache on a consumer CPU with good clocks/single core perf.

From a technical standpoint it's likely "gimping" by omitting it is due to decreased cooling efficiency when 3d stacking, which would be particularly egregious on the 7000s due to amd cranking up the power + clockcycles to compete with Intel.

From a competition standpoint, intel and amd seem to be quite happy in their duopoly - like most big tech brands. (Remember RAM and HDD price fixing/collusion?)

        • +2

You do realise that despite gamers being the loudest, server and imbedded are where most of the revenue is made. Due to AMD's chiplet architecture, compared to Intel's monolithic, their CPUs are binned first for server before consumer. The 5800X3D is a CPU from a binned Milan-X Epyc server chiplet that didn't meet the performance per watt requirements. 7800X3D, or whatever it is called, will be from binned 4th gen Genoa-X Epyc server chiplet. Next gen X3D doesn't seem to have the teething issues of 1st gen, from looking at Genoa. Intel can't compete in server at the moment, because you can't just keep cranking up the voltage, and have had significant delays. AMD is gaining server market share, hence it's their main focus before DIY consumer

        • X3D reduces clock speeds and isn't as good for some workloads.

which unlocks the true potential for 7000 series and what it should have been from day 1

People use their PCs for more than gaming

Ordered mine from BPC yesterday for $579. Doh.
For those wondering about ram, I grabbed https://www.bpctech.com.au/product/kf560c36bbeak2-32-kingsto…

Not top of the line, but $319 for 6000mt cl36 is a pretty good deal considering

    • Looks like a pretty reasonable RAM kit to me.

    • +1

Just wanted to update this and say BPC offered me store credit for the difference.
Seems like a great place, will definitely use them again in future.

For anyone wondering my items were shipped the day after ordering

  • +1

Was pretty certain my next upgrade was going to be 5900X (from 3700X) but couldn't resist $499 for the 7700X lol!

Motherboard/platform cost is still ridiculous BUT knowing now how little practical difference there is between a good B650e and X670e board building an AM5 system with the 7700X + B650e combo is actually not much price difference as when I bought a 3700X + 570X setup. Faster gaming plus ~60% improvement in Photoshop alone is pretty crazy over the 3700X…and now I'll be ready for future CPU upgrades for the next few years should I see a reason to do so…at least that's my justification to myself haha.

  • +1

    Might buy that 7700X frfr

  • You guys reckon 7600x can go even lower for Black Friday?

  • Hmm. Cheapest 7700x + 32GB DDR5-6000 combo is at BPC. Pity they don't stock many B650E boards.

Wonder how much lower things will go on Black Friday?

  • I wonder how much 7700x is better than 7600x for average gaming, like online mmorpg, etc.

This gives a pretty great rundown of the differences gaming.
MMORPGs generally tend to be a bit more cpu focused, but ultimately I wouldn’t expect there to be more than a 10% difference or so.
As shown in the video, the higher the resolution the lower the gap (due to GPU limitations/etc)

For anyone looking for a (relatively) cheap board, this one is pretty decent. Ends up just over 400 delivered
    https://www.shoppingexpress.com.au/buy/msi-mag-b650-tomahawk…

Lacks any pcie5, but I’m not really sure that’s going to be necessary anytime soon.

I ended up going for an Asus Strix b650e-e knowing full well it wasn’t worth the extra $250 premium over the board above.

    • +1

That's what I am going for too…more so due to familiarity with ASUS boards but also number of NVME slots and rear connectivity.

    • TBH spending $100 more for a PCIe-5 board is probably worth it… the ASRock B650E STEEL LEGEND WIFI ATX AM5 Motherboard is $500 on new Egg

      • I thought about buying from newegg/Amazon US but didn’t want any warranty drama.
Few Aussie stores with the steel legend for around $509. PLE even have the x670e version for 589

        • Was going to say the ASUS B650e-e is down to $582 via Amazon US so tempting wondering if I should just get it now not sure if I’ll see better a price even during Black Friday sales.

  • Does BPC not accept paypal?

    • I'm pretty sure they used to,, but this week I placed an order and it was not an option

      • Oh well… Amazon it is for $9 more
        Now for a mobo…….

  • Even with these good prices, I just cannot stomach buying one of those laughably overpriced motherboards.

As much as I want to upgrade my i5-8700K, I will be waiting another 6 months to see if things change.

    • Motherboard is the last piece of the puzzle for me….. waiting… waiting…

  • +1

OP, might want to fix the text in your BPC links as while it's directing to the correct pages, they're all currently listed in the deal post as the 7600X.

    • +1

Updated. I forget to update the text after copy & paste from the 7600X template.

  • 7600x sold out now

  • Dang, when will AM5 mobos drop in price

    • Most likely as current over priced stock finally clears, the next batch I am sure suppliers will have to seriously discount to move stock. AMD gimped their 7000 series CPU's and everyone is waiting for the X3D versions and also ver 2.0 of motherboards when all the early Beta testers have paid for the testing phase. I would say, come Jan-Feb.
