        Using old Dell monitor u2410.
        No hdmi arc.
        Only normal hdmi, 3.5mm output and normal USB.
        Using logitech z5 omni speaker.

          If the sound coming from Chromecast HDMI to the Dell monitor HDMI and to Dell 3.5mm output, it should work.

          Are you sure in settings, remote volume, it is configure to control Chromecast volume not something else?

  I did the firmware update a little while ago which stuffed my setup (basically had to reset it and put the device into the back of the tv instead of soundbar to set it up), and replace the HDMI cable.

  Wondering if anyone else has a static sound when navigating back on the main screen?
  Just checking it's not ruined the unit, may be out of warranty but could complain to google. Sometimes the sound doesn't work at all until i change to a different sound mode on the soundbar if changing apps and stuff. Bit odd.
