Audible: Buy One, Get One (for Current Subscribers Only)

70

Get two books for one credit. 50+ books to choose from. Expires 30 June.
You're probably regretting not buying the 20% off credits about 12 days ago.

They also have a $5 "books worth discovering" sale with 75+ books to choose from, but they all average less than 10 ratings so they're a little bit iffy.

Damn, why didn't anyone post that? I've been thinking of getting the 24 credit annual pack for a while.

    • Yeah, I saw nothing of that deal!
Maybe just an invite only offer?
Or maybe just a .com offer perhaps… I joined .co.uk cause I far prefer a UK accent to a US one.. (it's not just accent either, the readers just seem to have better modulation rather than pretty much monotone)

      • They have different editions of the books with narrators for US vs UK version specific to each site? First I've heard of that!

      • Must be a .com only offer. It didn't look invite only though.

  • Just to clarify. You mean, PAID members with a SUBSCRIPTION right?

I'm a member, have bought books but don't have a subscription.

    • Good point. I'll change the title.

  • +1

    For those intersted in audible.

    1 they use drm
2 the avaialble titles are not the same for all regions.

Lots of stuff is not available to many regions include Australia. In fact its not even possible to to see what is available without having an account with a credit card registered.

I conatcted them about this only recently as I was quite keen to buy a bunch of books, until I read about the region limitations and couldnt find anyway on the website to see what was available here before giving them a credit card.

This is not to take away from this deal, as I wish i could use it ;) for the items I want.

    • It's easy enough to bypass the region restrictions, just change your address to a US based one (user a bogus street address and Hollywood, 90210 as your suburb/zip) and the site will automatically show you all the books available to the USA, it's always a good idea to check books in both regions because sometimes books will actually be cheaper in AUS (if you are paying cash for them, not credits).

Once you have purchased a book in another region you can switch your address again but you will still have full access to all your books.

I suggest picking a real hotel in Oregon. Oregon has no sales tax.

        • How do I reverse the neg? Was using my phone and accidentally pressed the minus instead of the positive sign.
Edit: fixed but can't positive it anymore.

        • Don't worry, I'll live. :D

        • I'll plus it for Ya :D

  • How strange; I am a subscriber and I can see the $5 books, but not the 'buy one, get one' deal. A little tip - I tried to cancel my subscription this month (simply not enough time to read and listen to everything I would like to) and they gave me a $20 credit to stay on as a subscriber.

    • You need credits (not the dollar kind). If you have run out, you won't see this deal. You can always buy more credits.

Probably a good time to join for non-members if you have a coupon code for free credit (e.g. Given out by certain podcasts. Unless brand new users don't get the same deal).

      • For those non-members:

If you have never had an Audible account you can sign up for a Platinum account (2 books a month) by going to "audible.com/twit2" - I got that from the TWIT podcast.

Anyway, you'll get two credits and if you cancel in the first month, you keep the books and pay nothing (make sure you pick the books before cancelling!).

That's what I did a few months ago. When I cancelled they offered me another 3 months @ 1 credit a month for $8/m. So I ended up with 5 books for $24.

So you should be able to get 4 books for free right now if you buy from the 2-for-1 list.

  • I had a look since I had 3 extra credits. With just 50+ books on sale, there wasn't really anything I wanted. I'll just wait til they have one of the massive sales every few months.

  • Can someone post a list of the member only 2-for-1 books?

    • Just bit the bullet for a 24-credit annual sub. I can confirm that the deal only appears when you have available credits.

Anyway here are the 2-for-1 books:

      • Important books on this list to read/listen to once in your life:

        Watership Down
        Atlas Shrugged
The rise and fall of the Third Reich

I wish I had the time necessary to dedicate to an Audible subscription.

        • I wish I had the time necessary to dedicate to an Audible subscription.

I average an hour or so a day. Over a month that's 30 hours, generally two audio books, or a really long one.

Get yourself an iPod Touch, an in-ear set of headphones (use just one when driving or walking on the street) and use the app with a 15 minute timer. It's surprising how much you can listen to each day while doing other "stuff".

Most librarys also have free audiobooks you can download from their website. And there's lots of free audiobooks. eg http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/72493

        • +1 For Watership Down. Awesome book!

          Haven't read the others.

        • I listen to podcasts. I seriously do not have a spare moment when I am not listening or doing.

  • If I spend the money to buy one, I damn well hope I get one!

  • FYI:
2-for-1 credit ends 2pm July 1 (AEST) - requires membership and available credit.
Books worth discovering - $5 each deal ends 2pm July 6 (AEST) - doesn't require membership.

  • unfortunately , I use demonoid. Have bought only a few , but good deal nevertheless

  • +1

They have added some new titles to the BOGO list.

    • New Australian list is only about half that. :(
Can't see it anymore as I don't have any more credits.
