Anyone know if having controllers constantly sit on these with infrequent use would degrade the battery?

What I have done is set the USB to turn off 3 hours after PS5 goes to sleep. Although this does not fully charge a controller to full from empty, but for me it's a great way to not overcharge.

It's in your PS5 settings.
I’m pretty sure the controllers stop charging once full. I’ve had mine basically since launch and I haven’t noticed any issues.
These official docks are good because they charge via little contact points on the controller rather than USBC, avoiding port degradation.
Downside is it takes a fair bit of practice to reliably place the controllers on the right angle.
It makes an obvious click and the control pad glows briefly once you get it seated.+
