Am I missing something? why is this 1080P camera a bargain? is the feature 'automatically zooms & tracks movement' within the view angle something special?

    • Google sells their flagship camera which is also a 1080p for more than this price and it can’t even automatically zoom or track. Google cam can’t even store locally and you have to pay $9 per month to view the recordings that are older than 3 hrs.

  • Wonder how it compares to the TP-Link Tapo C210

Dont buy this garbage. Mine hardly works 1 day a month. Keeps disconnecting

  • But how do you use this outside with a the adapter to connect the power? Ta

    • You can get devices that send 5V or 12V over an ethernet cable. Some even do this while providing a network connection, so you can use with ethernet cams that require power (don't support PoE)

  • My outside ceiling eve downlight has a plug. i'll drill a small hole and use a double adaptor, but before i do, if i ceiling mount the camera, is the image going to be upside down or can you rotate it?

Swann, is the worse CCTV and IP Smart Cam on the planet…even cheaper Chinese brand are better.

    • What's so bad about them?

We bought the double pack, We got 40-50 videos of shade a day for 3months. Stopped using them for 12months, then when we went to use them again, the app needed a update and could never get them to sync again.
We are using them as dummy cameras now..

Do yourself a favour and don’t buy Swann security cameras. They’re horrible in every way. Save your $50 for literally anything else.

Always hear stories about how crap Swann are but my experience does not reflect same.

I've had a Swann system in my business for over a decade. The 1st system was cheap with no hard drive and basic cameras so I plugged in an external drive and attached it to a wifi plug and a small television in the lunch room and it has been invaluable catching dodgy customers and I've never had a break in. It's only recently been replaced with a new system because I needed more cameras - 4 to 8.

I initially was going to replace with a Reolink system I got cheap but, when I found out the cost to cable POE in my roof(asbestos didn't help), I bought another Swann that used the same BNC/RCA cables and just replaced the cameras and was up and running in no time. The Reolink is still in its box unused.

The Android App is nothing special and needs to be shut down fully sometimes, but works fine 99% of the time. The windows program allows you to change things from anywhere and works well.

For the price, it has saved me many thousands of dollars IMHO.

    • Could of used the existing bnc to attach and pull through the catx cables would of been a pretty easy replacement. Easier than a fresh install tbh. Asbestos is fine until your start cutting it

      • You cannot legally install the poe yourself- voids insurance if you get caught so not worth the $1million dollar risk.
After looking into my roof, it was found that it would not be possible to 'just pull the cables through '.
I know that people overreact regarding Asbestos, but it doesn't stop companies charging an Asbestos related Tax…

        • I know but it's just become so common no one seems to care or even ask for the tca1 either. It's a very low risk to actually mess up the install and cause some kind of fire starting fault. Initially it was more a comms issue effect the lines outside I the property lines why its technically illegal thanks to telstra. Yet when you go to nz it's all legal and they use the same standard as us

    • Yeh same here. Have 4ch DVR Swann cameras hardwired, havent had any issues. All locally stored on HDD and no additional fees . Also allows 2gb free cloud via dropbox.

      • I haven't seen a setting for Dropbox. What is you security system model and what Swann app are you using?

    • Yeah I've got the 8ch dvr hard wired for local storage and access (I don't like the idea of having cameras streaming to the internet for any hacker to access) and I haven't had any issues with it. Clear footage.

    • What Windows' program? AVSS?

  • buying anything Swann - Wish you all the very best…!

  • about to buy 2, but see the horrible reviews. i guess i will stick with wyze
