  • I've only played Civ 5 and Civ 6 (love them both) and had fun with Beyond Earth - has this game aged well? I suppose for $2 its worth a try.

    • hell yes.

      I still play this game!

It has not aged well, I love old isometric
sprite graphics they usually hold up well like Age of Empires, but this game is hideous. The UI and controls are not intuitive and require lots of learning and are frustrating to use. The game mechanics are complex and require a lot of background reading/research too.

Someone coming from newer Civilisation games will not be able to easily play it still. That was my experience, I gave up on trying to play it and just watched a YouTube series play through.

        • The game is old and is showing its age, but there are patches available to ameliorate some shortcomings int he AI, bugs and expoits. It's got a learning curve for sure but is a very rewarding game with a lot of depth once you get the mechanics.

Does this require you to answer the first word on page 45, sentence 2 of the user manual randomly as an anti piracy check?

  • Great game for its time, but as people mentioned above I am not sure it's a game you want to start playing in 2022; this game belong in an era where you have to accept certain shortcomings such as its AI and the learning curve.
