These terms and conditions apply to the offer (“Offer”) whereby customers who purchase a Meta Quest 2 128GB Headset [B08V51TP2C] shipped and sold by Amazon AU on Amazon.com.au (“Qualifying Items”) from 00:01AM (AEDT) on 21 November 2022 to 11:59PM (AEDT) on 28 November 2022 or while stocks last (“Promotional Period”), will receive $150 promotional credit. The promotional credit of $150 will be applied to the customer’s Amazon.com.au account that was used to purchase the Qualifying Item after the customer’s order is shipped. An email notification will be sent to the primary email address associated with the Amazon.com.au account used to purchase the Qualifying Item after the Qualifying Item is shipped to confirm that the promotional credit has been applied to the relevant account. This Offer cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer. If you cancel or return the Qualifying Item, this Offer will cease to apply and the promotional credit will be invalidated. If you return a Qualifying Item, Amazon reserves the right to charge you (using the payment method you used for the original order and without further notice) for the promotional credit you received as part of the Offer. The promotional credit will expire at 11:59PM (AEDT) on 31 March 2023. This promotional credit entitles customers to $150 off their future purchases of Eligible Items shipped and sold by Amazon AU. When used in these terms and conditions, 1)“Eligible Items” refers to any items that are shipped and sold by Amazon AU and excludes “Excluded Items”; and 2) “Excluded Items” refers to any product on Amazon.com.au sold by third party sellers (even if fulfilled by Amazon AU or sold by Amazon US or Amazon UK), digital purchases such as e-books, subscriptions such as Prime Video and Audible, gift cards and postage or delivery rates. This Offer is limited to one promotional credit per customer and Amazon.com.au account. If Amazon considers a customer to be operating multiple accounts, those accounts will, for the purposes of this offer, be treated as one customer. The maximum benefit a customer may receive from this offer is $150. This Offer and promotional credit cannot be used on existing orders. Amazon AU's standard delivery rates and policies apply to any purchase made pursuant to this Offer. This Offer is subject to availability. The promotional credit is non-transferable and may not be resold, redeemed for cash or applied toward the purchase of any gift cards sold at Amazon.com.au. If you use Amazon’s 1-Click ordering method, any promotional credit will not apply to your order. If you return any item purchased using the promotional credit, Amazon will only refund the price actually paid for the item (that is, less the value of the promotional credit) and the promotional credit will be invalidated and cannot be refunded or re-used. If you violate any of these terms, this Offer will be invalid. Amazon.com.au’s Conditions of Use and Sale apply.

  • Do we get the included Beat Saber and other game (I think Resident Evil) that the US were getting?

    • +3

This only includes Beat Saber. The bundle that includes RS4 has a different packaging :)

    • +4

Pretty sure US is getting discounted price too (but no Amazon credit).

      edit: Yep, US$50 off 128GB, US$70 off 256GB, bundled with BS + RE4

      • +2

True, but the amount of crap I buy on Amazon makes it effectively a cash discount to me

  • +5

I should've pulled the trigger from last year's BF deal instead…

  • +12

Call me old fashioned but paying $200 more (than last year) for a two year old headset… that ain't no bargain!

    • +4

The offer basically gives you the old RRP. :/

      • Yeah not exactly you are still handing over $629 and need to spend the $150 credit @ Amazon AU items only to claim those savings.

At the end of last year there was the same promo as well, so hand over $479 and get $150 credit.

      • +1

im pretty sure i got this last year for around $300 after cash back offer - its gone up a lot unfortunately but they are losing $$ now so….to be expected

    • +1

I agree but Meta had heavily discounted it before and they were losing a lot of money on it, this is them trying to stop the bleeding of cash.

      • +1

Zuck can get Zuck’d. I’ll hold off for a bargain.

        • +2

This is the bargain now for Quest 2 and it is still one of the cheapest VR headsets around, unless you want one where you slip a phone in for a screen. It was just at an insanely good value before, and people turned their nose up at it.

          • +2

@FabMan: "and it is still one of the cheapest VR headsets around"

" It was just at an insanely good value before"

Yeah but it is just about to be replaced by Quest 3 which has been confirmed by Zuck to be released next year at a similar price point. $300 to $500 USD before tax depending on storage tier.

Personally I will wait and will recommend others to do the same.

  • Does this just mean you get either $150 or $200 to use on Amazon or it has to be some kind of an approved promotion in which you can use the credit? Very confusing wording.

    I mean what's a "future eligible order"?

    • +2

Added T&Cs in the post :)

      • +1

Thanks. This is the key part to be aware of:

"Eligible Items” refers to any items that are shipped and sold by Amazon AU and excludes “Excluded Items”; and 2) “Excluded Items” refers to any product on Amazon.com.au sold by third party sellers (even if fulfilled by Amazon AU or sold by Amazon US or Amazon UK), digital purchases such as e-books, subscriptions such as Prime Video and Audible, gift cards and postage or delivery rates."

Basically only applies to items sold by Amazon Australia and fulfilled by Amazon Australia.

  • +1

Is this the final bf deal for this vr headset? Or do you think the price may drop further later?

    • It has made international geek news websites, I think this is it.

    • it will only go up

  • +11

Don't forget that you can still get $47 of credit on the Oculus store for using the referral system.

While the below link is for the Oculus store, it still applies with headsets bought from Amazon.
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/oculus.com

Remember to accept a referral before setting up your new Quest 2.

    • +1

This needs to be added to the OP.

    • How does this work? Do I need to go via a different link

      • +2

Click the random button at https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/oculus.com to get a referral link. It will ask you to accept the referral.

After that you can buy a Quest anywhere within 90 days and get the referral credit - from Amazon, from Meta, anywhere. You just have to activate the headset with the same info you used to accept the referral - so if you are buying it as a gift, you actually should use the details of the person who will activate the headset when you accept the referral, not your own.

There is more info here https://www.meta.com/en-gb/help/orders-and-returns/articles/…

        • I actually bought it from Amazon before accepting the referral. Will I still get the credit when I setup the Quest with my email ? Or should I cancel the order and start over again ?

          • +2

@Kciel: The important thing is accepting the referral before you first activate the headset, so if you haven't opened it yet you should be fine.

If you have opened it, some people on reddit report they have got it to work by factory resetting it and setting it up again, but I last read that quite a while ago, not sure it would still work.

    • Thank you, still waiting for the first purchase through my referral link. It's bound to happen sooner or later.

      • Months and months ago I had about 4 or 5, but I'm guessing there weren't many people in it, or something. Haven't had a single one since…

Just checked and my referral code had been removed - nice of whoever 😒

Perhaps check if your referral's still in there

        • Yeah I just found this had happened to me too, wtf.

  • are there any must have accessories for the quest 2? im planning to use the credit on that, but im not sure what to get.

    • I don't think the battery packs headsets are worth it, I recommend ignoring those. Just over 2 hours battery life for gaming is enough in one go for me.

      • +2

Late reply: I use a powerbank not just to increase game play time but also to extend the longevity of the built in one.
Concept being, I never allow the main battery to drop below 30% nor charge above 70%. When playing I keep the power bank connected which seems to keep headset around 70% mark. I only ever charge the powerbank. Whether it will preserve main battery long term, only time will tell……but it should.

    • +3

I would recommend a new head strap, the one it comes with is not great. I like the halo style so that the weight is taken off my face and rests more on my forehead. BOBOVR M2 is popular, you can get it with or without the battery option:
      https://www.amazon.com.au/s?k=bobovr+m2&sprefix=bobo%2Caps%2…

Personally, I prefer using an additional battery, I have an older version of these halo straps without the battery so I just keep a battery pack in my pocket with a cable running down my back out of the way. I don't usually play longer than 2 hours, but sometimes when online with friends or doing something that is taxing the battery more than usual, I'm very glad to have that battery.

The BOBOVR M2 battery has the advantage of being able to be removed, so you can have it charging while still using the headset. I think this is a pretty good setup but you could save some cash if you have a battery that you use for phones etc and just keep it in your pocket like I do.

    • Controller straps with knuckle grips. I like the kiwi design ones that have a hatch for the batteries but there are other options that are a bit cheaper.

Makes it much easier to not accidentally throw the controllers.

    • This thread might be helpful, has good discussion from current quest 2 owners https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/668937

    • Yes to the strap, lots of good ones out there. I got a nice cushiony one from VRGear (I think). It just sits over the existing strap and adds like cushion support.

Don't get the extended battery life option just yet, the battery life is like 2-3hours, and you are generally not playing VR for longer than that.

  • What was it last BF? Pay $480, get $100 credit? This year feels like total rip off.

    • +1

The price went up, can't really expect to beat the previous deals that were prior to Meta's price rise.

  • LOL no thanks

    • +1

Do you have an alternative at the current market to get this cheaper except second hand?

      • I would not buy anything from META hands down. If you are keen still zuck will be soon forced to make these cheaper( prop up share prices) by his board since he's currently running the company to the ground.

      • Pico Neo 4 is a much better choice, if you know how to buy from these Chinese websites, the price(around $500) is actually lower than quest 2

        • does it have beat saber? That is the most interesting game for me :D

          • @polarq: Only via PCVR I think.

            • +1

@bamzero: I found that to be the case after some googling too, unfortunately a deal breaker for me.

  • Guys, is it worth to buy 256gb version (over 128)?

    • +4

From this reddit thread, it looks like 128GB is enough for most users.

    • +2

I have a 64GB and its enough to keep a bunch of games on there but since I'm still working on them (and uninstalling would lose save data in most cases), or they are just casual games you keep playing, they all sit on there and I'm left with a few GB free. 128GB would be plenty for me.

  • I’ve got a PS5 and no gaming PC.
Would it make sense to get this (older tech but untethered) vs paying a bit more for the PSVR2?

    • +3

Quest has much more flexibility. You don't have a gaming PC now, but you might in the future which gives you a lot of options e.g. Half Life Alyx

PSVR2 locks you into the ecosystem, then you also pay exorbitant amount for games as well. Steam and Meta both have regular discounts available

    • +1

If you don't plan on taking the VR headset anywhere, the PSVR 2 looks interesting to me. PSVR 2 games will be available from shops at lower prices as time wears on. Quest 2 is great for getting other people involved, I can take it to someone's house and get them to try some games and enjoy the experience.

  • Any good games on sale?

  • +3

If you're even kinda thinking about it, it's totally worth it. You'll have a blast in VR.

Quest 2 has no cables, just take it wherever. You can stream it to a browser too if not at your own house. (I don't want cables sticking out the back of my head.)

    You can:
    - Play high-res games on your PC if it's a decent gaming rig.
    - Put it into Developer mode and install Sidequest, which lets you play old games. I've played old school Doom (The brutal doom mod), Doom 2, Quake, Quake 2, Doom 3 (amaaaaazing in VR), I have RTCW and Half Life ready-to-go next.
    - Must have title is Beat Sabre (which you can also mod and install songs on)
    - Watch Netflix in VR
    - Watch any of your media in your own personal cinema (Skybox app is the best one)

What's my next game to get in VR? Most likely Resident Evil 4, as I've always wanted to play it, but never liked the controls.

    • Thanks mine is coming tomorrow, so excited :D

Do you recommend any specific accessories that you found are essential?

      • A quality head strap like the BOBOVR M2 Plus with twin batteries is well worth it for mine makes a massive improvement on comfort, battery life, image quality and general usability.

        • Mines just arrived, can’t wait to try them on.

        • do you recommend bobovr or kiwidesign for the strap? Also do you have a case that fits these third party cases that you use/recommend?

          • @polarq: I have the Kiwi one as well and tbh the BOBOVR M2 Plus is miles better in every way.

I would recommend going with the BOBOVR M2 Plus twin battery kit ($135 at Amazon AU atm for Prime members) but if you prefer not to spend that much the BOBOVR M2 Plus by itself is the way to go for mine ($55 at Amazon AU atm for Prime members).

            • @dins: Thanks! Do you know what the difference is between bobovr m2 plus vs pro? for example the pro

              • @polarq: The Pro is the earlier version and it did have some issues with not staying on properly when moving around due to the loose middle hinge. They have fixed that with the Plus and it also has better support for the back of the head as well.

The Plus bundle is definitely worth the extra $35 given it's easily the better head strap and comes with the extra battery and the magnetic dock.

                • @dins: Thanks bought the plus bundle :D

                  • @polarq: No worries champ well worth it for mine I don't think there's a better Quest 2 head strap out there.

          • @polarq: It will differ from person to person. My friend has the BOBOVR M2 and I have the Kiwi Design one.
I prefer the Kiwi one as it doesn’t move around as much. Both are great though.

The Kiwi is great if you want to strap a e.g. 10000mAH powerbank to the rear using velcro. Balances the front heavy headset nicely and powerbanks are a tad cheaper and hold more power compared to the 5400mAH Bobovr batteries (which are very nice as well).

Pity neither can be purchased with the Amazon Credit as they are sold via 3rd party suppliers.

      • You're going to need something, as the bog-standard strap gets a bit irritable. I got the Head Strap Foam Pad for Meta/Oculus Quest 2 from VRCover.com

Also a must, is Oculus/Meta recognised the default foam pad thing causes discomfort and skin irritations. They let you fill out a form and get a free foam facial plate that clicks in, it's made by the same material that goes over your ears on headphones. So comfy and recommended.

Again, I don't have battery packs/ extended charge thingies, as I rarely play longer than 2hours at most. But see how you go.

EDIT: Oh, as I wear glasses, the Quest tends to pinch, even with the spacer. So I got some custom lenses from Hons VR. You just need to know your eye settings, which you can get from where you got your last glasses.

        • I didn't find anywhere that offers free foam facial plate that clicks in. Do you have a link for it or is it now replaced with below?

They include a Silicon Cover" in the box that fits over the existing foam pad these days.
Check to see if you’re eligible to receive a Quest 2 Silicone Cover

          • @Borg: Oh, that must have been doing that for all new units, yeah that's the one. I had to fill out a form to get mine.

          • @Borg: Yeah they were providing VRCover face pads quite a while back but now give the silicon cover instead.
I already had a cheap chinese one like thiswhich I actually prefer to the Oculus supplied one as it has built in nose cover to block light (assuming the Oculus ones still don't).

    • I don't have a Facebook account. Do I need to make a new one? Or can I just make an occulus /meta account?

      • You don't need a Facebook account anymore, Meta account is all you need but they will encourage you to add Facebook so you can link Messenger, etc.

        • Thanks! Will create a new meta account for it. Nah I'm good with not linking the Facebook thing lol

        • will the ozb referral work just with the meta account?

          • @polarq: I've not experience with that scenario myself as I have Facebook connected to mine but I can't see why not. A quick check of the referrals system on the app shows nothing obvious about Facebook being required.

  • +1

Bought one yesterday, with a delivery date of 3 December. Now the product page has been updated with tomorrow delivery. Have people's orders been updated to the new delivery date?

    • Same for me… tempted to cancel and reorder! :D

      • I have cancelled and reordered… getting it tomorrow now. Fingers crossed!

    • yep mine is coming today. ordered on monday

  • funny that i sold my used quest 2 for $30 more than i bought it for.

  • will we also get the additional $90 app credit mentioned in the meta website if we buy from amazon? https://www.meta.com/au/quest/products/quest-2

    • Sounds like only if you purchase via Meta directly.

App Store credit: Credit expires on 03/06/2023. Credit only valid for purchase of apps and games in the Meta Quest Store. Purchaser will receive a notification message via email provided during checkout, containing the redemption code necessary to redeem the App Store credit. Facebook account required. Limited to one (1) credit per transaction, regardless of the number of devices purchased in a single transaction. Offer may be cancelled or modified at any time without notice. Void where prohibited.

      • +1

ah oh well, $150 amazon promo credit is better in every way. I have already spent it hehe. Thanks dins!

        • No worries champ.

  • Any ideas on how to buy x2? Amazon says only 1 per customer. Can I place another order tomorrow for the 2nd? Or will I have to setup another account?

    • Yeah probably another account in that case. That way you should receive the $150 credit in both accounts.

  • +1

For anyone wondering the 128GB model is more than sufficient. You're definitely much better off going with that one and purchasing a quality head strap with extra battery power.

  • how soon I get the $150 credit ? and will I receive an email about it ? I bought earlier today and still nothing.

    • +1

I think you should get the email and credit after it's shipped. At least that was the case with mine

      • Ok thanks

      • How soon after it was shipped did you get it? Mine was shipped on Thursday and I've yet to hear anything more about it. Hopefully I'll hear something on Monday because I'm getting extremely paranoid it didn't work because it wasn't the only thing in the cart, or something.

        • Dispatch and promotional email came 3 minutes apart. Although I got the promotional credit email first..

          Probably worth asking Amazon support?

          • @polarq: Thanks. I just contacted them and the (eventual) conclusion was that I need to be patient, and not to worry - I'll get it for sure.
            Well, fingers crossed.

            • @twostars: All the best! Should be fine if they have confirmed it. :)

              • @polarq: I got the email but I dont see the credit when trying to check out buying other items, I assume it should be under payment method but nothing comes up. Or do I get a code? there wasnt one in the email. it just said it will be applied to my account but nothing there so far.

edit: looks like only items sold by Amazon AU can be used against the coupon, not sold by third party. This sucks.

                • @Omarko: I've contacted amazon support twice about this issue this week, the second time someone finally got back to me. I ordered, received email delivery confirmation and received the product all within the promotional period, but never received a voucher email. This is the response I just got from support:

                  "Thank you for contacting Amazon

I'm <> from Amazon Customer Support Team.

Upon checking order <>, I'm sorry that gift card not received for Meta Quest 2 128GB

As I checked it is not showing any gift card will be issued for this, if it would then it would have automatically issued, unfortunately we can't take any action on it
We highly appreciate your patience and understanding on this matter. Amazon is grateful to have loyal customers like you.

I hope this helps! We look forward to seeing you soon."

Safe to say I'm not hugely impressed. Hoping they honour the advertised deal.

                  • +1

@Chrees: Have you received the Quest 2?

It's not a gift card btw it's Amazon AU promotional credit which shows up during checkout when you purchase items sold and shipped by Amazon AU.

If you want to check for the credit try adding another Quest 2 and if you have received it the full $150 should show up during checkout.

Also you don't have much to worry about Amazon should be able to sort it out if indeed there was some issue with your order.

                    • @dins: Yep, already received it.
I would try again, but unfortunately the promotional period has ended.
@Omarko how have you gone getting the credit applied?

                      • +1

@Chrees: What dins means is add a product shipped and sold by Amazon, not 3rd party and see if it applies promotional credit at checkout (Quest just an example since Amazon sells and is over the value of promo credit)

Or ask support to check your promotional credit balance.

                        • @bamzero: Ah I see what you mean, thanks for the suggestion.
Doesn't look like any discounts are available / applied at checkout unfortunately.
I'll see how I go getting my gift card balance reviewed.
