Some excellent prices here. Appreciate the layout too

Thanks! I didn’t plan to price check everything, but got into a flow. 😅

Got 4 x Hue Dimmer Switches v2 for $7.88/each at my local Bunnings (none left there). Pretty sure it was meant to be the v1 but try your luck at your local Bunnings https://imgur.io/a/lzXoP0E

    • Had the same deal at my bunnings, sadly sold out before I could buy some clear out their stock

    • Wow, thats a great deal even for the v1. I might have to take a drive to check it out!

No joy at my local big green shed, at regular price.

      • That site is amazing.

Any idea why Bunnings would be selling them so cheap? The new versions only came out recently. Is it a Matter thing maybe?

        • +1

I don’t think it would be related to Matter, Hue have said they were keeping all of their peripherals on Zigbee, and just updating the Hue Hub to support Matter.

  • Great effort with the thorough post, and some good prices. Cheers!

  • Brilliant post, time to tastefully light up the house for Christmas

    • Thanks mate, enjoy the decorations!

Thank-You! I just purchased 27x Garnea downlight to replace the shitty Zigbee lights that are installed.

    • Wow, nice setup!

      • I've got around 40 zigbee lights around the house, plus sensors and switches ect.

        • I’m about 25 including sensors etc. Are you running them all on the Hue hub or other Zigbee coordinators?

          • @Hargain Bunter: 2x Hue Hubs for the KISS approach in case of a wifi issue.

            • @rackxp: Can you elaborate on this setup a bit, please? Have you split the lot into upper/lower level or similar? How do you bridge all of house automations?

Thanks! Have been looking at getting into hue system, this pushed me over the edge.

Question for anyone who has replaced halogen downlights with the Garnea. We had a sparky doing some work recently who was suggesting if changing over to LED, we should get less downlights than present as the LEDs are significantly brighter. Given the reports that these aren't as bright as some expected (and the generic LED downlights at Bunnings appear to be around the 900 lumen mark vs 600 for these), and dimming options, I'm thinking just to replace fitting for fitting (with the cutout expanded as the current halogens are 70mm cutout). Bit pricier obviously, but avoids need to patch and paint the ceiling!

    • Depending on your layout Akari may be the go-to if you'd like to reduce the number of downlights. My downlights are 1.5m apart and Akari does the job just fine, Garnea just won't cut it.

  • My current downlights are bigger than 90mm. Anyone has any idea, how to go about it?

Bunnings sells adapter rings in a few different sizes. They can allow you to use smaller lights and cover a larger hole without needing to plaster.

      • Thanks, will check it out

  • Gradient strip has crept up to $145 for no obvious reason.

    • Thanks! Updated.

Now it's been removed from the "Black Friday Sale" list completely and is back to $175! >:(

        https://www.amazon.com.au/Philips-Hue-Gradient-Ambiance-Ligh…

(not to be confused with the UK version that Amazon also list, for $145, but which will need a plug adaptor)

        • Thanks, updated again. I left it in the deal as it still seems to be the cheapest I could see with a quick Google (matching JB Hi-Fi).

        • Argghh bummer, just after I got my Aldi 10% off GCs and was ready to pull the trigger. Dont hold out much hope of them dipping again that low for actual BF, but will see!

  • JB were able to price match for me on the downlights. Amazon has a 5 unit limit and I needed more than this!

  • Philips Hue Outdoor Lightstrip with Bluetooth, 5 Metre Length, White-41% $199.95 - Equal best

    Back to $331.

  • Has anyone succeeded with Bunnings' price matching with their 10% Price Guarantee?
