Dont forget 10% cashback from Cashrewards and if you have an AMEX offer saved, its another $100 off.

I placed an order earlier today, bring its down to like $1500.

    • +1

How do you get the 10% from cashrewards, and what is the AMEX offer?

      • Cashrewards has gone down to 4% this morning. With AMEX offer, it should have been saved to your card a while ago unfortunately. If it doesn't show up on your account, its most likely not available for you.

  • The 77" A80K for $5,488 (before 10% Cashrewards cashback & bonus $500 e-gift card) seem like a good deal too

  • +1

How does this compare to the LG C2/CS?

  • +1

any way to do split payment across 3 amex cards for max discount?

  • Thanks for sharing. Purchased the Sony A80J 55" for the bedroom and Sony A80K 77" for the lounge room. The 10% cashback via Cash Rewards (in combination with the $500 gift card for the Sony A80K 77") made them more appealing than the LG CS deals (at least, in my opinion).

    • Bit of a long shot, but did anyone manage to grab a screenshot of the Sony A80K 77" product page (either JB Hi-Fi or Sony) with the $500 gift card offer? The invoice doesn't mention it, nor does either of the product pages (since the offer expired 21/11). Unfortunately, it wasn't archived via archive.org. Since the gift card doesn't get issued instantaneously, I just want to ensure it's not going to get overlooked by Sony.

  • I read on the internet that the 55" and 65" have a "semi glossy" screen which is different than the "glossy" screen that all other OLED TVs have.

Can anyone confirm, and does it make a difference?

    • I’ve got an A80K 77” and the LG C2 42” as monitor.

Daily operation and usability = Sony
      Picture quality = LG

Somehow I prefer LG’s glossy finish as the contrast is much better and vibrant

  • Any 65'' model in stock? Refurbished 65A80J was @2349 but has been out of stock for a while.

Has anyone received confirmation of cash back tracking?

    • Not yet, which is slightly concerning since I've received both invoices and the orders have been dispatched.

      • Same i purchased yesterday and received invoice and despatch notification but no cash back tracking info

        • Oh, I thought it was only me. I was sure I did it right as the Chrome extension showed it was activated, but I still haven't gotten it yet despite the TV being shipped this morning. Fingers crossed I get the email tomorrow…

          • @chcse: Did it end up tracking? Did you contact cashrewards?

            • +2

@kev98: I got my TV delivered yesterday, still no tracking. Cashrewards state 1-7 days for notification, and I can only send enquiry after this, which I will be doing next week. Kind of sucks as last time I bought from Sony, it instantly tracked (and now there's the 12% cashback today…).

              • @chcse: I just purchased & didn't receive tracking. Disappointing to hear it hasn't tracked after a couple of days. $200 is a decent amount as well so I expect that it will track.

                • @kev98: I purchased today via cashrewards and got the cashback tracking email within 10mins.

Do you have any ad/cookie blockers active? Or added the item to your cart before going via Cashrewards?

                  • @Newtz4: No adblockers installed. Possibly was in cart however clicked through and logged in to Sony with cashrewards. Haven't really had issue without it tracking but given yours went through straight away I get the feeling I will be sending them an email.

    • Any updates…?

  • Still no CB tracking or $500 giftcard

    • what is gift card from?

      • It was from (and is for) the Sony store as part of a promotion when purchasing the Sony A80K 77" (I don't believe it was applicable for other models).

    • Likewise. I can see the two listings (one per TV purchase) within the 'click history' on Cash Rewards, but nothing under 'my rewards'. Ultimately, the 10% cashback equates to ~$727.30 (excluding the $500 gift card), which isn't insignificant, and was the primary determining factor in purchasing the Sony A80J/A80K directly from Sony rather than the LG CS from JB Hi-Fi. Unsure if I'm within my rights to return the items if the cashback isn't successfully tracked.

      • After 7 days I believe you can submit your receipt to cash rewards.

It should show a listing for you visiting Sony on your ‘Click history’ page, a ‘send a claim’ box should appear next to Sony.

  • +1

So I've submitted a claim. I noticed that one of the questions was whether any discounts have been applied, and on the invoice the free shipping is listed as a discount. So maybe that could have tripped things up?

    • I just submitted my claim today too :D. Sony has been offering free shipping for a while now, and someone posted above that they got tracking email instantly last week, when free shipping was still on so I don't think that would be the problem.

My Amazon orders tracked fine the week before my order, and also some orders a few days later, so I do not think it is my browser or settings, something weird is happening…

      • Yeah my Amazon order tracked fine too and I got notification for the cashback pretty much the same day.

    • +2

We must have all been counting down the clock until we could submit a claim! Fingers crossed that Cash Rewards will sort it out with minimal fuss. The next challenge will be ensuring that the $500 gift card doesn't fall into Sony's blackhole.

      • Update on my cashback claim, they've just added it as "pending" but they need to confirm with Sony that they will attribute the sale to Cashrewards, so it's not guaranteed. Guess it's at the mercy of Sony now, and I don't like the odds. I still reckon something went wrong on Sony's side.

        • unusual - is it possible to refund / make complaint to ACCC? It's not a small amount of money we are talking about

        • Same

  • Has anyone had the Cashrewards approved? Mine is now pending, however Cashrewards is saying it will be likely declined cause I didn't make the purchase within 3 hours of clicking the Sony website, which is not true.
Also still havent received $500 giftcard from Sony. This is becoming a real pain.

    • +1

I've had the cashbacks added as 'pending' by the Cash Rewards representatives. However, I had to send them the original order emails as evidence, since the 'click history' entries and the order invoices had differing dates. I haven't heard anything regarding the $500 gift card from Sony (although, the product webpage did state that it could take weeks to be issued), and there is no mention of it within the order email or invoice, and the product webpage has since been updated with no previous archive available. Even though I'm happy with the TVs (at least the 77", as I haven't assembled the 55" yet), it seems like there are going to be ample opportunities for Sony to weasel out of the purchasing agreement, such as declining the 'pending' cashbacks or not honoring the $500 gift card promotion after several months have elapsed. For this reason, I'd like to return (and request a refund for) the TVs, but I'm unsure if this is possible. Ultimately, even with the 10% cashback and $500 gift card, the net cost of the Sony A80K 77" at $4,489.09 wasn't even an amazing deal considering the LG CS 77" was available for $4,390 without having to jump through promotional hoops.

You should have the email order confirmation from Sony which has a date/time stamp, which can then be compared to your click history on Cashrewards?
