    BACK IN STOCK - BLACK

    More than 10 units available!

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/175445301375

    • Over 100 units sold, now “almost gone”.

  • Hi if anyone is looking for this laptop it's on sale now in EBay , but could see only the Black one as per 4.45PM AEST

  • Annoying actually, because I can get 10% off eBay gift cards.

It would be sweet for low $800, but I'm already thinking of returning it. Black is def better than Sandstone I think! I got no idea what to expect.

Where can you get the 10% eBay gift card ?

    • Did you buy one and not going to keep it? Possible I would be interested depending which specs you got.

      • I'm in SA.

        The specs are listed.

        R5/256GB/16GB RAM

Wow that was quick. Dispatched today and will be delivered tomorrow by DHL

  • Back in stock

  • I bought one but am having serious anxiety about the battery.

    • Why? 19hrs not enough?

      • +2

More just in a year or two’s time when it starts to degrade. There’s no way to replace it.

  • If anyone bought the 16Gb/500Gb model and is having buyer's remorse, let me know as I need something like this for my son starting high school next year.

    • +1

Unless the Surface is specifically required, consider this or this

      • HP is rubbish because of the 8gb ram.

Lenovo is a good contender though. I notice it's MIL spec too which means it should handle some rough action by the kids

      • Unfortunately the Lenovo got price jacked so it's no longer such a good deal, would have bought it at the sub-$900 price.

        • Check out the gigabyte one that just got posted. Good deal. Only 990grams too! Excellent weight for a laptop

        • It's raining deals, Gigabyte or Intel

    • Keep checking back as it regularly comes back in stock

  • Did anyone receive their laptop yet? Mine was meant to arrive today but never came. DHL told me I need to contact Microsoft.

    • Same here, mine was showing delivery on 24th and says no estimate and on hold on DHL tracking. Contacted DHL also told me to contact Microsoft.

      • I contacted Microsoft and they just gave me a generic response even though I sent them screenshots of the conversation with DHL

Not sure why it would have anything to do with Microsoft since it's already left them

        • Did you call them or ebay email?

          • @rkpv: eBay message. They just said it's still in transit and to wait… Ignoring that I told them that DHL asked me to contact them

    • +1

Same here. DHL now shows 'Scheduled to depart on the next planned movement' but no estimated date. You would expect a better tracking from DHL.

      • Mine updated from 'Scheduled to depart on the next planned movement" to "Processed at Melbourne" this afternoon, with estimated delivery date of 28th. Not sure what DHL have been doing all week, I could have powerwalked from Melbourne faster than they can ship a small box! lol

        • Are you getting it delivered to Melbourne?
Mine didn't update and I'm in Melbourne

          • @edrift: Oh nah I'm in Sydney. Pretty strange, I've had decent experiences with DHL previously. Maybe they've partnered with Fastway :)

            • +1

              @howcan: Mine just arrived today.

Slight problem though… The laptop seems to be electrified? I think there's a live wire touching the case, either that or it's got haptics

  • Can anyone share the recipt of the purchase… i will try Microsoft to match the price if possible..

    • I'd be keen to have a copy as well to try get jb to match it.

      • Can’t see it happening but goodluck!

Someone offered to sell me theres from this sale in Black so I'm happy with that :)

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT. PLEASE READ IF YOU BOUGHT ONE OF THESE

The MS Surface has bad wiring. Google current leakage ms surface and you'll see I'm not alone.
If your surface casing is giving you a mild tingling feeling, it's because the case is live with electricity.
The fix: unplug the figure 8 power cable from the DC transformer then flip it 180 and plug back in.

    TLDR:

I have a background in computer and electronics and electrical engineering so the minute I touch the laptop I knew something was wrong.

Touch anywhere on the metal case of the laptop (mostly palm rest) gave me and electrical buzz. It was a familiar feeling as I've been zapped before by a faulty rangehood.
For the uninitiated, it feels like haptics is on the whole laptop.

I used my multimeter withnon contact voltage detection to confirm the case was live.

Unplug the charger and all is fine. No more haptics.

A quick google and I can see posts about this happening from the surface 3.
The fix suggested flipping the figure 8 power cable. This worked.
    Shock haptics gone.
    Multimeter not freaking out anymore.

    Other things worth mentioning:
House has old 1990s wiring with only a single RCD. It didn't trip.
House also on 3 phase power.
Laptop charger plugged into surge protected power board.
I was isolated from the ground on wooden flooring and rubber soles shoes.

Voltage unlikely to kill you. circa 15vdc and 4A current limit

MS failed to include a ground/earth wire. I think this would prevent all the issues

    • I think 80% of the laptop power supply adapters out there are supplied without earth wire. Just simple figure 8, have a look at your mains plug it will be two pins. It's legally ok since it's double insulated or class two design so they can get away without earth connection. Saving a bit of cost.

I have an older dell and Asus they do have the third earth pin. Both class 2 double insulated.

I don't know how is this acceptable. It's also common for metal MacBooks. Its very uncomfortable when you feel it and I'm lucky to avoid it I use an external keyboard and mouse

  • Any other good offer with touch screen and 16gb ram or upgradeable as Microsoft just cancelled my order?

  • Just noticed that Microsoft have removed the Surface Laptop 4 13.5'' from their website (previously was listed as out of stock) Does this mean they won't be getting anymore stock?
