Kugoo M2 Pro Electric Scooter $529, G5 Electric Scooter $929, G2 Pro Electric Scooter $1229 Delivered @ Kugoo Australia

BLACKFRIDAY20

On sale for Black Friday are the lowest prices yet on three electric scooters from Kugoo with the coupon. What sets these scooters apart from others is that they all have shock absorbers which makes riding a lot more smooth and comfortable. This is particularly uncommon for scooters under $1000 so the M2 Pro is good value.

Kugoo M2 Pro Electric Scooter $529

The Kugoo M2 Pro is the base model and I think is excellent value for the money if you're after a scooter for commuting and it outperforms the popular Xiaomi Pro 2 in both acceleration and comfort. Featuring 8.5" pneumatic tyres, front 350W motor, dual shock absorbers, 36V/10Ah battery offering 30-40km range, 3 speed modes, 25km/h max speed (34km/h private property), disc/electric/foot brakes, bright headlight, Bluetooth app for settings including cruise control and suitable for riders up to 120kg.

Kugoo G5 Electric Scooter $929

If you're after something better than the M2 Pro then the G5 is a step up. Offering larger 10" pneumatic tyres, front 500W motor for handling slopes better, 48V/16Ah battery offering 70-80km range, blue deck sidelights and turn signals. Like the M2 Pro it has dual shock absorbers, 3 speed modes, 25km/h max speed (34km/h private property), disc/electric brakes, bright headlight, Bluetooth app for settings including cruise control and suitable for riders up to 130kg.

Kugoo G2 Pro Electric Scooter $1229

The final scooter on sale is their more premium model designed for both commuting and offroad use. Featuring a rear 800W motor with more power to handle slopes and offroad terrain, 10" pneumatic tyres with better grip for offroad use, improved shock absorbing suspension, RGB deck sidelights, large LCD display and dual handlebars for braking. Other features include a 48V/12.5Ah with 40-50km range, 3 speed modes, 25km/h max speed (50km/h private use), bright headlight, Bluetooth app for settings including cruise control and suitable for riders up to 130kg.

Please ensure you follow local laws surrounding electric scooters and always wear protective equipment.

I'm marked as Associated due to receiving a free scooter from Kugoo, as they were after experienced riders to provide honest feedback on their products.

  • Did they end up sending you any unit to try? Curious about how their G2 perform.

    • Yeah I received an M2 Pro, so no first hand experience on the G2 sadly.

      • oh cool, actually curious about M2 pro too. How would you compare it to the xiaomi pro 2?

I notice it has "shock absorber" which makes it quite appealing for people who wants small scooter with some sort of "suspension".

The battery looks like smaller than the xiaomi one.

        • The Pro 2 was the first scooter I rode and the M2 Pro did impress me in comparison. Acceleration is faster, it can go faster speeds out of the box (no firmware hacks like Xiaomi), supports cruise control and the shock absorbers certainly make it smoother. Like if you're going over bumps, approaching a footpath from the road too fast or some gravel you'll notice the difference.

The battery is about 2Ah smaller so there's not much difference in terms of range there. Depending on your speed and weight you're essentially going to get about the same range.

100% shock absorbers are the selling point I think. Simply because other scooters with suspension go for $1000+ and it makes a big difference in riding.

          • @Clear: Does their app allow for cutomising max speed of each speed profile?

such as I want each of the speed to be 17km/h, 27km/h and 34km/h

            • @juns: Unfortunately that's not possible. Infact that's the case with most escooters in general.

              • @Clear: Thought so. With the xiaomi, at least it was possible by using the hacked firmware.

One last question about the M2 pro, let's say if I hold the throttle and stayed at 27km/h, would the cruise control kick in and maintain that speed?

                • @juns: Yes that's correct. In the app you can customise how many seconds it takes for cruise control to be active.

    Still promoting illegal scooters? Unbelievable…

Looks like a buyer will only get a 6 month warranty for the M2 Pro?

    Perharps this is why:
Reviewed in Canada on 14 May 2022
    It dies after 6 months.
and other reviews on Amazon are generally negative.

Also some first hand review from a fellow OZB member, return shipping costs him/her $165.

    • You know that's common across many brands like Dragon? The body has 12 months while individual parts may have less like tires prone to punctures for example. Not limited to scooters either. Brother printers (which are popular here) consider some parts inside to be consumables and won't replace under warranty.

But that's an issue for Kugoo and not me who doesn't work for them, so I really can't sway their policies or speak on their behalf.

Plus everyone is more likely to share negative experiences than good. Just look at OzBargain

50% 5 star on Amazon is pretty bad.
I would prefer a reputable brand from a reputable retailer.
        Easy return is a must.

          And which brand offers that?

My Segway ninebot G30M melted and they wanted me to ship it to Brisbane at my own cost.

  • Would the shock absorbers make it possible to ride with solid tyres?

    • Yep. You'll still feel the bumps more with solids. For air tired use green slime from Big W. Or if you want to spend more this is supposed to be good.

  • How does this compare to the Ninebot F20A?

    • F20A has the advantage of 10" tyres over the 8.5" in the M2 Pro. The downside of the F20A is that it only has a 250W motor so the M2 Pro beats it with 350W.

      • Thanks, very tempting. I see people riding them all the time in Suburban Sydney even though they are of course not legal. Look fun though!

  • Has the deail expired?

    • Yeah. Which one are you after? I can check with Kugoo.

      • Thanks. The Kugoo M2 Pro Electric Scooter for $529

  • Mine just got delivered today, faster than expected. I don't have a helmet yet, any recommendations? What other safety gear do people use?

I haven't got anything yet and wanna go ride it!

    • +2

I'd recommend something better than a standard bicycle helmet. Bare minimum something like this to protect the back of your head if you were to fall backwards. Ideally a full face helmet is the best option since it'll protect your face if you come off at speed. Bell Sanction is $100ish everywhere and offers heaps of colours and designs. I personally use the Bell Super 3R as it has ventilation holes and the chinguard is removable. Always good to get a helmet with MIPS to protect your brain in a fall.

Knee and elbow guards are recommended too for speed and offroad. Soft ones on sleeves like this are easy to put on and work well. These are more bulky and will offer more protection. You can find both for elbow pads too.

Gloves are a good option too since your hands are likely to hit the ground hard and they're warm in winter. Wrist guards are a bit of a double edged sword. They can protect your wrists in a fall but a wrong landing can also snap your wrist so I don't wear them

      • Thanks Clear
Awesome information mate. I'm off to do more research and get purchasing!

  • took the m2 for a ride today. seems my bike pump nozzle wont fit the scooter so i bought the xiaomi 1s pump. 25 km/h feels a bit slow at times but probably a good idea to keep under that speed. suspension is awesome and felt necessary on the cracked footpaths.
