Assume the link will work tomorrow also?

Any good deals on the S100 or S200 ?

  • Damn, just bought a S100 for $500 more

  • Terrible pool cleaner moved 60 cm one way then 30 cm the other way and then no more. Had to replace the blade twice due to poor design. Gone back to using old fashioned leaf skimmer. These are a waste of money.

      Surely that's faulty?

    CleverClean scanning technology

Does it actually scan? If so, what does it scan and where are the scanners located?
I ask because I always assumed it was either a mathematical equation where it rotates x degrees as necessary or it measures distance and bearing.
I have a kidney shaped pool with curved walls and have tested out robotic cleaners for demonstrations and they still miss areas, so I'd be keen if this can guarantee a full clean.

Also, what micron are the filters (both ultra-fine and spring clean-up) and filter bag?

  • Would the CL PVC model be recommended for a pebblecrete floor and walls, with long tiled benches and steps?

Also, anyone know how this compares to Robotek, which would usually be about $200 more than the usual price of this?

No idea about recommendation but based on Product Info:
      * this comes with Combined Brush (CB) which is for coarse surfaces.
      * the Wonder Brush (WB) is for smooth surfaces.

You'd think that the name Combined Brush lends itself to being able to do both.

Not sure why you'd compare something that is usually $200 more than the usual price as this would now be $1200 more.

That said, I bought a used Ex-display Robo-Plus direct from RoboTek (formerly ICH) for $1544 delivered 2 years ago over the Zodiac and Haywood robotic pool cleaners
IIRC it had a RRP of $1800 back then.
I chose it due to the larger inlet for large leaves and palm seed pods as well as the larger bag capacity, 20 and 70 micron bag filter options and the ability for remote control.

I have a pebblecrete pool, and the rollers on the Robo-Plus are foam-like similar to the Dolphin Wonder Brush from the looks of it.

My review of the Robo-Tek plus: It's as good as any other "robotic" cleaner.
They should really be called electronic as it just navigates it way around and rotates as necessary.

No additional filter like the Dolphin advertised here, however it does come with caddy and an IR remote control.
You also have the ability to control the unit via the base unit.

The Robo-Plus comes with 2x cloth filter bags: 20 micron and 70 micron.
I use the 70 micron for bi-weekly clean and the 20 micron when I come back from holidays.
The bag filters are a pain to clean though.
Because of the bag filter, I have found that I do not have to backwash the sand filter as often as I had used to.
It'd be nice to be able to leave it in the pool and schedule regular cleans while I am away but this cannot be done easily.
I'm thinking of setting up a broadlink IR transmitter to do this.

The main issue I have is coverage due to shape of my pool, but it does capture the majority of the floor and maybe a little over half of the walls.
The only other issue I have is when pulling the cleaner out of the water, some particles that were previous vacuumed escape from the opening of the inlet and a small cloud of particles filter out of the bag itself.
It's also a tad heavier than the other units and sometimes still climbs walls even though I set it to floor only mode (which is default)

      • Thanks so much for the thoughtful and fulsome response. The reason I was comparing was to get an impression if they are similar robots, now with a $1200 difference. Seems there's more to the Robotek, albeit with some niggles in the way it works… I also find it really difficult to compare the features of this Dolphin model with all the other Dolphin models (they don't include Swash on the product comparison tables on their website).

Thanks again for trying to help. Still on the fence whether to jump on this or not.

If your needs are vanilla this will do the trick. I imagine the filters plus bag are finer than the 100 micron that are in the Zodiac range which will save you backwashing.

As for your tiled bench, just give it a brush once a week.

I went through 4 non-robotic cleaners over 10 years and having the robotic cleaner over the last 2 years made me regret not getting one sooner.

No more having to replace diaphragms, hoses, etc. That said I left the cleaners in the pool whereas this one I take out and rinse off after every use.

I have 60,000L pool with lots of leaves and large palm seed pods so I needed a unit with large bag capacity and inlet.

The filter bag will still be a pain to wash though

  • Anyone find any decent reviews on this product? I've just found a couple of personal comments but nothing that really reviews and compares it against other pool cleaners.

    • I would be interested too in hearing from anyone who has one. From what I can gather, it is a fairly 'old' robot now.
