WFH Laptops. Lenovo 21BVCTO1WWAU2 - Quoted $1750

Hi guys,

I was wondering if someone could provide some insight into whether the below is well suited to office staff for WFH operations. Nothing technical just logging into office via VPN and basic office admin type work. I have been quoted $1750 and looking to purchase two. Not my area of expertise unfortunately. Thanks in advance.

Yes it would definitely be more than enough for a nice WFH setup the only thing I would point out is that pricing is getting awfully close to the pricing you'd be able to get on a P16s Gen1 on special which is significantly more powerful. You would be able to get away with a much cheaper E15 thinkpad if you wanted to save some money on these.

    • Thank you appreciate your comments. I will look into the P16 as a second option. These are for staff so they don't need to be top of the range just futureproof for business needs. Thanks again.

        P16 is a different model. P16s is basically a T16.

Look at my comment below for further information.

If you're buying more than 5, give them a call and they can give you a better price.

    P16s = T16

    same chassis, same motherboard.

the only difference is how you can equip them here in Australia.

I'd recommend looking at the AMD model (P16s/T16) as it's much faster and quieter (much more efficient).

If you can get a hold of an EDU account, they have a massive discount on P16s at the moment as part of black Friday, an instant $2000 off + another 5% off on top.
    I snagged a fully loaded P16s (32gb, Ryzen 7, 2k Display) for around $2200.

if you drop the CPU to Ryzen 5 that'll drop the price $300 (Ryzen is plenty for what you described), so for $1900 you have a machine with double the ram and a very very good factory calibrated 2k display.

Additionally P16s comes with the 86wh battery so much longer battery life.

    • Cheers mate much appreciated.

      • The SSD can be self upgraded for much better price than Lenovo charges.
What Lenovo wants for a 512gb upgrade is how much a brand new 1tb costs… then you can sell the 256gb for a bit of money as well.

But I'd suggest spending the extra for the 2k screen, it's very well suited to the 16inch model, I used it with native resolution and 100% scaling and it's just so much more usable space and makes productivity much better.

32gb RAM upgrade is probably overkill for what you do, but it's not possible to upgrade it in the future (it's soldered). In addition to more RAM it looks like that 32gb also gives you 4 channel (which is not available on the base 16gb model, only 2 channel there), this will be great for the iGPU in the AMD part.

And of course, don't forget to add finger print reader (for $20, it's a nice addition as once setup properly it just unlocks when power button is pressed).

  • What do you do?

    • Massive overkill imo. Have you got the bluelight screen on this? I got one for about $900. If works paying for it go for it.

      • It’s my business and looking to purchase for x2 employees to vpn from home to access sql database essentially.

What did you end up purchasing?

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/727393 this

but wish sorta I got this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/727943

And now looking at this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/739841

But price jacked a wee bit. Anyway. I do similar work. If it's for work tax write off so.

I'm holding off until tomorrow to see what happens. The one I bought is 10th gen Intel and battery depletion is significantly reduced on 11 and 12 gen from what I've read

I've been using a Lenevo t520 for about 8 years and it still works fine but battery is dead so upgrading for USB 3, HDMI etc. SSD is key and I notice for model had windows 11, best stick to win 10

And battery on your model is a bit low for the price

Massive overkill for office work. Better to get a laptop with a FHD and a second monitor and a USB KBD and Mouse.
