      Thats for the older 5950x..

These prices for 7000 series are crazy considering the $1000+ that the 5950 commanded for so very long after launch

    • Mainly because AM4 motherboard pricing is reasonable from launch, while AM5 motherboard pricing is just insanely high

Only if you're sticking with X670E. If you don't need the PCIe 5.0 16x slot or the second Pomontory 21 chip the B650 boards coming out in the next three weeks are often under $400.

          often under $400

I paired my 5950X with a Gigabyte B550 AORUS PRO WiFi for $180 at launch. $400 for a "mainstream" board is still bonkers.

          • @p1 ama: I was tempted by some of the recent ryzen 7 series sales, until i realized i'd still have to shell out $400-$500 for a "reasonable" AM5 board. Every mobo i've ever board, including a few in recent years, were $100-$200 which seems pretty standard for the last 20 years IIRC.

B650 boards coming out in the next three weeks?
I thought they were already out? There are more coming? Am I missing something?
