  • Are these decent frypans? I have like $20 worth of COTD credit to use up from the Acer Netbook delay a few months back.

    • In my experience, the thermo/red spot doesn't last very long, and pans buckled after a few months. I guess you get what you pay for.

      • Thanks for your input, appreciated.

      • +1

It also depends which series, the models sold in COTD are probably more similar to the range sold at Target etc.

    • I have a jamie oliver shark's tooth grill that works pretty good, and has that tefal spot (but I'm not sure if it has a different coating or not). The 7 reviews on Amazon seem positive. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Tefal-Essential-Non-Stick-Thermo-Spo…

    • My last Tefal set only lasted a year. I cook almost every day.

My Scanpans lasted about 3 years but cost 5x as much.

I'll be buying another Tefal set next time.

Edit: I've also started buying cast iron and solid steel pans and just using heaps of oil. Pans last for-effing-ever.

      • Do you know that the scanpan has 10 years warranty?

You just send the pan for new replacement.

        • I didn't know that, but I've binned them already.

          Oh well.

  • hmmm…im just looking for a 24cm or 26cm Frypan (diameter)(Safe non-stick coating: No PFOA, lead or cadmium) ….any better cheap option for me ?

    • Target usually have these on sale at 50% off. Keep the docket if you need to return it.

      • for how much $ in Target?

  • Thought I'd just provide another deal for people to consider, see the Circulon Infinite set posted over here: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/73224
I just ordered mine last night for ~$200AU delivered. I know it's considerably more than this deal, but there's a few reasons for that…

My folks have been using the same pots/pans there for the past 5+ years and they are still fantastic.
I've had a look through the local shops in Melbourne and the exact same set goes for $400-$500 after their so called '50-70%' off.
    Also it's a lifetime guarantee!

There's also a great review by j450n74y in that link that explains alot about pots and pans for people who don't know too much about pots/pans (like me!)
I'd rather buy a set that'll last me many years to come rather than buckle after a short period.

    Hope that helps.

    • I got the Circulons as well. Ordered Friday lunchtime….delivery attempted Monday lunchtime.

  • Circulon is a completely different ball game …

i like the better brand pan's because they are a lot easier to clean, i'm a very messy cook, and you can actually clean them without losing half of the teflon …

cheap stuff is cheap for a reason, if you want to spend many times longer cleaning, if you want to run the risk of teflon in your food, if you want an un-even, slow-heating, set of pots that make you envious of other target brands, then get tefal …

once you get good stuff, it's hard to go back, kind of like knives
