You know even after looking at the link I can't really figure out what this is, and what it can do - thus its purpose.
Is it a Dash Cam? As in it constantly records? Is it a suction cup for the dash and a.. screen? behind it? or an attachment clip for a Navi??

    • Have a look at the photos. It's a dash cam with a mount for a navigator, but a clamp would have been better instead of a propriety mount. Nice concept but not impressed with the resolution - I don't think it's HD, but the price reflects that I guess.

      • HD is 1280×720p.

This is 1280x960, so it should be slightly better than HD.

BUT the box states 640x480 for photos, which makes me think the "HD" video resolution is just stretched (up-scaled) to 1280x960 which is rubbish.

That, coupled with the weird GPS mount on the front makes this a no buy for me.

          1280x960 IS NOT better than HD (1920 x 1080)

        • +1

          1920x1080 is full HD
          1280x720 is HD
          So you're both correct

  • Network Camera?

    • yeah I can't explain that one :P

  • its got a suction cup to mount this to the windscreen, but its also got another mount built onto it so that you can attach your phone or GPS.

In other words, it a widnscreen mount for your GPS/Phone, which has a built in DVR.

What will they think of next lol.

    • Wouldn't it be easier to use one of the newer mobile phones to both record video and use as a gps?

      • No it wouldn't be easier. These dash cams record as soon as you start your car, and stop when you switch off. The idea is that you set it and forget it, until you need it for that insurance claim. These also have a fish eye lens so that you can see the front of the car and all around it.

With a phone, chances are you would get bored having to position your phone and switch it to record and turn off the recorder all the time.

The car dash cams are pretty cheap insurance really. But this one here looks pretty much bottom of the range.

  • No network and no HD. Clearly stated 300,000 pixel CMOS chip. it equals roughly 640x480.
    Cheap, but not bargain.

300K pixels isn't 1280*960. If you lie in your ad, how can we take you seriously?

This site looks like another DX clone …

    • yeah thats what i jumped on to say, noticed it last night

a 300k pixle camera is only good for 640*480,

so it uses interpellation to get the higher res, which is crap.

  • Maybe it's one of those "evidence collectors" that can be used to show you weren't in the wrong, eg, after a crash, etc….?

Was there any hint that it -activates- on being jarred/bumped?

  • +3

640*480=307200 pixels=pretty crappy pix, won't stand up in court

The only thing "HD" about this is the Highly Dubious claim of 1280*960 res

  • Given that this one is probably crap, does anyone have any recommendations for other products?
