You need to replace it with the exact tyre.

MyCar is selling single Pirelli at 50% off today. You may need 2 to ensure the tyres on each Axle match.

Booked and ordered and paid deposit.
Get an email an hour later saying no stock and how do I want the refund to be processed….pretty meh response

    • +1

      Same here

    • Sorry to hear. Perhaps call them and ask if they have Goodyear Assurance Triplemax 2 in stock? That’s 50% off too.

    • Hmmm… order this morning (it's a Sunday). No email or call about stock. I wonder if I'll get the same treatment.

  • Despite prejacked prices, still a good deal though.

March this year i paid about 630 for a set of 245/40/18 fitted, now its about 520.

    • Dunlop FM800? How would you rate the tyres in that size?

      • Yes FM800. Has plenty of grip in dry for spirited driving, while In the wet its mediocre at best.

I would rate them as great performing budget tire, rather than budget performance tyre, if you know what i mean!

  • Did anyone get a call from them. The store rep told me that I need to make a full payment by tomorrow. Is that thing?

    • My call was out of stock (even though the website is working and still allows you buy) just told me he was going to refund the deposit

    • My store called me and told me the same and that the only way to pay is to come into the store despite setting fitting to 2 weeks later.

Would've rather just paid the whole amount online. Oh well, considering myself lucky they have stock.

  • Anybody know how Pirelli Powergy compare to this option? Couldn't really find proper reviews of either, all seem really extreme views (like most online reviews)

  • Can’t find anyone offering above 20 inches

  • Received call saying they don't have stock Dunlop 215/60 and will refund. Waste of time.

    • Sorry to hear. Perhaps call them and ask if they have Goodyear Assurance Triplemax 2 in stock? That’s 50% off too.

    • Why can’t they order it in?

      • Good point. The bob jane I picked is ordering it in. Not sure why yours can’t.

  • Nice would be good if they actually "had stock" tho

Wonder if people were to call the store beforehand to confirm they have the model and size in stock. Then when they say yes, tell them you'll order it online. In case they aren't wanting to honour the discount for whatever reason

    • +1

Another option is Goodyear Assurance Triplemax 2 in stock. That’s 50% off too.

      • Thanks I'll ask if they have either

  • Thanks needed 2 new front tyres but hey what they heck 4 for the price of 2 is hard to beat.
Got 225/60R18 for $508 and SUV wheel alignment for $79 all up $587 for 4 is not bad for the Honda CRV. Last time I remember I paid about $800 fitted with JAX, 3 years ago on the buy 3 get one free promo.

  • Got a call for my tyres and they will order but will need to be fitted in November.

    • Is that a requirement for the deal?

      • i just booked in at my local. i was told had to be fully paid by Monday. could be fitted until 23 dec.

        • My local said I just needed to pay a deposit $150 and the rest on fitment which had to be before 23 December. I booked in for 12 December so they said plenty of time

  • Dam I just got two front tyres for 300 to pass inspection and they were like 100 each one but mechanic charged me 150 each I could have gotten all for tyres done for about 370 with this deal and better quality dunlop ones… sigh

    • Same thing with my partner's car like a week before this deal popped up, so lame.

    • So without new tyres your car would fail inspection and therefore be unsafe on the roads? It surprises me that people don’t think about how worn tyres are so dangerous.

Or am I reading this incorrectly?

      • Yeah would have failed inspection but would have liked it if I had gotten a sale price earlier.

  • After owning both the Dunlop Sport FM800 and Assurance Tripplemax 2. I will go for the FM800 anyday of the week. The Triplemax 2, only last around 30,000-35,000km before going completely bald, despite the fact that I rotated them and aligned them every 10,000km. The FM800 I got 50,000-55,000km out of them, while isn't great (but isn't bad as it a more sporty tyre), is still a hell of a lot better than the Triplemaxes

I just got a friendly call saying the tyres were OOS and had to come from interstate, so he'd call be back as soon as they were in.
It's not normal for a tyre shop to have hundreds of different tyres in stock considering the thousands of tyre size/model combinations they offer. It's weird that some people were getting their orders cancelled for such a reason.

    • Agreed. Mine said brisbane warehouse is all sold out and they will get it from interstate. Said it would only be a few days, but my tyres are still legal so delayed it for another 2 weeks

  • +1

awesome, just booked in. $537 for 4 dunlops and alignment seems pretty good to me!

  • Could anyone please share your experience or knowledge regarding the Pirelli Powergy vs this Dunlop Sport FM800, when it comes to grip, comfort, noise and durability? They have similar prices for my required tyre sizes.

    • i wanted to know this too but ended up buying the powergy because the dunlop sport in my tyre size wasn't 50% off

  • +1

Ended up calling ahead to save from a cancellation. They said they can match the discounted price without having to buy online.
Might be worth trying that for anyone else planning on getting a set.

  • Got an email advising that they don't have stock didn't even get a call.

  • Nothing for my bloody 235/65R18

  • It would be pretty good deal if they had the tyres in stock. Just before ordering I called the nearby shop to hear they don't have them in stock and will just refund if I proceed with the online order. The guy has also suggested to call another shop where they still have some stock for my sizes. A guy in the other shop initially confirmed they have stock. After asking if they would honour the discount, he said "what discount?". He sounded genuinely surprised they have Dunlops at 50% off. His response has immediately changed from "yes" to "wait, I need to ask my manager, we'll call you back". His tone was clearly suggesting that he is not planning to ever call me back. And he didn't. In the end I walked into MyCar shop and ordered Pirelli at a discounted price with fitting mid December (at 40% off of the original price but still a good discount).

    • Did he get your phone number though?

Guys, dunlop vs goodyear ..which one should I go for?

  • anyone have anything good to say about the Goodyear Assurance Triplemax 2?

  • My car tyres' load rating is 95H (max weight 690kg) according to the manual, but only the 94H (max weight 670kg) is available. Would it be a problem if I fit the 94H to my car? This page said it could be very dangerous and might even be illegal or insurance void if one go with tyres of lower load rating. Not sure how true is that though.
    https://www.tyroola.com.au/guides/tyre-load-rating/

    • What is the gross weight of your car? Usually just 1 under the load rating won't make a difference, but the cops can actually defect you for that

      • Yeah. I don’t think 20kg would make a difference, but the cops and the insurers may not think so. A bit disappointed after spending so much time on both the deals and had to pass it the last minute.

        • Lol I have the same issue. My Car tyre load rating is 94 (670kg). I have to buy XL load 97 as I'm missing out on the 93 ones. It's ridiculous as the gross weight is nowhere near the total load. I'm assuming they have to factor in weight of say 5 heavy passengers of 100kg each, but still nowhere near!

  • The Bob Jane Store I ordered from confirmed my order then called to let me know the Dunlops and Goodyears at 50% off are out of stock. Said no stock whatsoever and no offer to order in. Offered me a set of Bridgestones at $300 more. I cancelled the order and asked for my deposit back. They told me on the phone the refund will take sometime so I’m not holding my breath. Disappointed.

  • Ordered last night and deposited first thing in the morning.

  • Dropped in to Bob Jane Ferntree Gully this morning at 11am, expecting to book in for a future date. Tyres fitted, wheel aligned and out of there within an hour.. good deal and great service.

  • Hi, newbies questions please , can you actually fit 220/60/18 to 265/60/18 ? Thx for the answers

    • +1

I don't think so, it will be very stretched. Use willtheyfit to visualize it.

      • Much appreciate it !!

  • 225/45/17 for $450 or so, I'll take it.

The checkout process reads as though it includes fitting but nothing confirms it.

Confirmation text says "pick up your order".

  • +1

Stopped by at a local Bob Jane just now. They could actually book one in straightaway. Took an hour to replace all tyres + alignment that cost $79.

  • OP will appreciate, if you can add in description , the key T&C's like: When they need to be fitted by etc, I had to dig through all the comments to find out that tyres have to be fitted by 23rd Dec.

    • Hi @deals4amar, I think it depends on the store. My local told me it had to be fitted by end of nov but it seems like others can fit in dec.

      • I'm overseas now, without roaming. How will they contact me? Should I hold off ordering until I come back in Dec, hoping the deal will still be on?

        • I think how it works is web order needs to be confirmed by local store. They will call to advise if they are unable to fulfil order or if the fitting date from the web order needs to be done earlier. I guess you can just place web order and put a fitting date in december. If they can’t fulfill for any reason and they cannot reach you I assume they will refund the deposit. Or perhaps arrange for a friend to take the call?

          • @eptrade: Ok thank will go ahead and order and cross my fingers.

  • Still waiting for Bob to contact me…. Ordered on 25th

    • Perhaps call the store you chose for fitting?

      • Just called today, the onwer stated not many stock in the 1sr place, and stupidly try to do the same deal as other competitors, will not order in additional stock.

Ask me to get Bridgestone buy 3 get 1 free instead……

  • My store (Ipswich) called me within an hour of placing my order on the website, confirmed the tyre size I ordered (they wanted to double-check as it's different to the standard ones that came with my car as I have aftermarket wheels) and confirmed my preferred day and time for fitting later this week. Really good service and under $600 for four decently-reviewed tyres and a wheel alignment (vs $500 at MyCar for two Pirelli tyres and wheel alignment). Great deal for me and really good service thus far.

  • Bought 225/65R17 on Friday. Got a call on Saturday for no stock but will check interstate. Got a call back on Monday for no stock at all and offered Dunlop Grandtrek st30 (4 for 3) offer.

  • +1

Just came back from the store (missed their call) and they don't have Dunlops in stock, tried to get me the Goodyers instead. I can see they are still selling Dunlops on their website with a buy 3 get 1 free offer. Super disappointed. They just get your order and offer sub-par replacements or refunds that will take forever.

    • +1

Got them fitted, after I refused to fit Goodyears and posting a 1★ review they contacted me and stock magically reappeared.

  • Ordered and subsequently called to tell me out of stock and won’t be back in until Jan. Apparently their website doesn’t take stock levels into account. Waste of everyone’s time.

    • Same thing happened to me and they are still advertised online buy 3 get 1 free. WTH

  • Does anyone follow the bob Jane tyre service schedule, get it serviced, rotated and possibly wheel aligned every six months after they change all 4 tyres?

    • No. It's just after sales bs.

  • Picked up my tyres today - everything went smoothly. I was worried from others experiences that they would tell me no stock.
