Use it to apply heat shrink tubing onto frayed charging/data cables.

  • Thanks op
I've been wanting/needing one of these for years but always resorted to using an old hair dryer.
Plenty of stock left at Mildura bunnings, also was marked as $49.
The cashier couldn't believe the markdown price!

  • Thanks OP,
There were about 6 left on shelf in Maribyrnong Vic at 1pm

    • just ordered via click and collect so looks like there's still stock.

      • They were tucked away in the tool shop with regular price on tag. Price at register was discounted price.
Almost like they didn't want to sell them!

  • WOW that's a HOT Deal

      👋Dad!

  • Got one of these too

  • I used one to de vinyl my car as it was cheaper than destroying my mum's hair dryer when I was younger and living at home lol

    • I read your comment when I was younger

  • Awesome! Will be using for electronics work… and maybe starting a BBQ as others have suggested! Cheers!

I don't know if/what I'm going to use it for, but bought it anyway. OzBargain will be the death of me.

  • Nice! I have to go Bunnings early tomorrow morning.

Good for hobbyists using shrink wrap on cables. I've got one and it did the trick! I wonder how many just buy this with no real need of it

  • Great for kebabs, one stick takes less than a minute… my wife wants one for the kitchen.

Gotta say my experience with this HoS was not good. Tried to use it to get glued vinyl off floor. Melted vinyl, no effect on glue. Ended up returning it and using iron with cloth underneath for better result. Also, the scraper and airflow directors are pretty flimsy. Before you waste your money, consider buying a cheap hairdryer instead. This device is largely useless.

So , it melted what you pointed it at , and you blame the gun ?
Sounds like you had it on too high a setting and trying to rush the job
      There's a saying about blaming the tool , I forget ..

  • Thanks OP. Just got one in store. The price tag hasn't changed but when checking out it shows $19.95.

If you miss out on this, Kmart has a 2000w hair dryer for $18 (2 speed, 3 heat settings)

  • Awesome! Needed one and in stock at my local Bunnings 👍

  • Still lots if stock at Ashfield (NSW). I just picked one up. I think this store has stock because it has a sign for full price but it does scan correctly with the discounted price.

  • It looks like Bunnings has also reduced the XU1 brand to the same price:
    https://www.bunnings.com.au/xu1-2000w-heat-gun_p6290580
Note sure how it compares but I notice it only has 2 heat settings (rather than variable)

    • Might also be a Bunnings homebrand by the looks of it.. has the same attachments

Ozito one (I have one) has two power/fan settings and an additional variable temperature dial.

The XU1 is missing the variable temperature dial

  • Does this need to be plugged in to work? Or does it charge and you can disconnect it for use

      It is corded.

  • I now have 2 of them.
Apparently the Mrs purchased one, and has been using it, for a couple of years now! 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️

      Secrets between partners.

  • I bought one and had my store call me saying they are out and expecting stock in the next few days. I am in no rush, so waiting for more stock to come in.

Got this from the last deal. Tried it last night on pork crackling. Amazed how well it worked.

  • Thanks ordered. Will come in handy for removing glue used in car body kits.

  • Picked up mine on the Weekend. Literally on opening for the first time one of the ultra cheap and nasty opening tabs on the case just snapped off.

I guess it's only $20 but it's really not particularly well made piece of kit.

  • could you use this for removing electrical chips etc, i strongly doubt it, but just checking.

    • Reflowing, apparently yes as mentioned earlier lots of youtube videos

    • Your hands would get very hot and possibly damage other components. I'd get a hot air soldering station dedicated for it.

  • I bought one

  • +1

    i bought 1
i don't know why, but in for 1.

    Back in stock I think.

    • Price still hasn't changed, is this now permanent or something? Couldn't find any stock near me initially, hopefully better luck this time around.

      • probably. they are still making a profit at this price, lol.

  • Expired :(

Right as I need one for PC watercooling.

    • Price now back to $19.95 if you still need one. :)

    • Right as I need one for PC watercooling.

      Huh?

      • Probably means they need to warm up the PVC pipes so it becomes soft for bending

  • All hair issues solved, never use a towel again!

    • Of course, no hair issues when you're bald…
