Honestly through my experience of the Greatest Warrior series it's about the same. I still prefer his earlier works.
I preferred the likes of Contest, Ice Station and Scarecrow compared to the Greatest Warrior series. I prefer standalone as by the time I read a series one I have forgotten a lot of the previous plot points.
I'm in the same camp. While I liked the scope of Greatest Warrior I feel like his writing style is better suited for stand alone books that sort of tie into others (Ice Station to Scarecrow kind of deal). He's definitely a "popcorn action movie" kind of writer, and trying to tie plots across 7 episodes is something only the Fast and the Furious can pull off (not really, FAMILY isn't a plot).
Yes, writes like an excited 8 y/o just making up increasingly more nonsensical stuff on every page. He's been very successful, but it's the action equivalent of trashy romance novels, and there's a lot better things out there.
He's the Michael Bay of the book world 😂
I would have to be paid 1000 x $8 to read another Matthew Reilly book. Awful writer for teenage readers.

FYI This is more of a novella that read like the screenplay to a Marvel movie. It was fine but very unfulfilling as a book. I agree with most of the Matthew Reilly sentiments already posted (my favourite is the 6 sacred stones).
Why is everyone hating on Matthew Reilly. Literally the only author that could engage me as both a teenager and adult. Read all of his books, this is a short read, still action packed like the rest of his work. Would love another scarecrow book to come out
