  • Any deals on the 40mm in purple?

    • -1

      Just buy a purple strap.

    • It’s in the deal.

  • This or 4 classic? 🤔

    • +1

      4 classic. Not much difference.

    • +5

The Watch5 has better battery life.

      • +1

Prefer the physical rotating bezel on the G4 Classic, personally.

      • How is that? Same battery as Watch 4 Classic. Maybe due to screen size difference but surely that's minimal.

      1. The slow charging in the 4 kills it. Having to charge 2 hours every day or so is annoying
  • Thank you, great deal. Bought

  • Does this stack with the cashback?

    • Can't use coupon codes with cashback

I'd probably push you towards https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/740842 by a lot.

    • +2

      Any particular reason?

      • +5

Battery life is a main one. Garmin last approx 7 days of real world use (Garmin advertises 9 days). 24 hours of gps tracking. The poor battery life is really crippling. From reviews watch5 hasn't fixed this limitation from watch4.

Sports and activity tracking is more reliable based on my experience with the watch 4 classic. I.e. Samsung crashed on me during longer activities. Not to mention batteries died on me consistently by 3-4pm when hiking all day, with always on display off.

If you don't have a Samsung phone, you'll need to install at least 2 apps to use the watch for some reason, 3 if you include Samsung health. Each of them ask for eevry permission under the sun and I found they were draining 10% of my phone's battery.

Garmins single app has been fantastic for me. No battery drain. Very detailed stats, surpassing all other apps I've used. Easy to connect to other services, e.g. strava, alltrails. Works reliably.

I ended up getting a refurb Garmin 6X pro on Amazon UK via AU earlier for $392 (with $20 Cash rewards cashback), advertised as 21 days of battery.

I have a Samsung Gear S3 and am sick of recharging it every second day.

        • +3

What's the GPS tracking like asking for a cat 🤔

          • +1

            @AuQld: Just attach an airtag

            • @buckster: I was using a tile but she got locked in a metal shed, the Bluetooth signal couldn't get out, luckily the owner of the shed found her 4 days later.

So was thinking a GPS tracker or smart watch with LTE that you can ring.

              • +1

@AuQld: Maybe just keep her indoors?

                • @buckster: I do, but I'd like to let her out for a run around sometimes during the day.

        • Plus the Venu 2 Plus has voice control / assistant at the wrist.. Not on other Garmins yet I don't think

    • I'd prefer a Garmin Vivoactive 4 for $299 over the Samsung.

      • +1

it's a fair bit older with the 'last gen' set of sensors though

    • What's the difference between venu 2 plus and fenix 6 pro?
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/740319#comment-13022243

      • Venu 2 plus, AMOLED screen.

Fenix 6 pro, mix between a Kindle screen and a led screen, is not as vibrant or bright, but battery is significantly longer.

Fenix 6 pro is also considered a much higher end model, with advanced features for hardcore athletes and multiband gps tracking which should be more accurate in cities. But it's also a fair bit older than venu 2 plus, and it had the 'last gen' set of sensors similar to Vivoactive4.

If you don't know you need Fenix series, chances are you don't. It's overkill for most people, myself included.

        • The fênix line up has navigation too, with topical maps. Handy for trail running, or running aimlessly in foreign cities and needing to get back to start

  • +1

    This is good.
    Struggling between this or Garmin

    • Garmin! See above.

    • +2

Man, I had the same dilemma. I opted for the galaxy watch 5. Love it. All the extra functionality on the Samsung sets it apart. I know the battery on the Garmin is amazing, but I just stick the watch on the charger when I have a shower. Fast charge is great. Have never run flat.

  • is there different between this and the pro?

    • Larger screen/size and slightly larger battery. Price as well.

    • Titanium build on the pros

      • Function the same??

  • +1

Amazon getting smashed and pushing all deliveries to be done by 9th of December for Prime users. Any item online and in stock is now due to arrive only after the 9th.

    • +1

You must live far from a warehouse or don't have Prime. I'm seeing still next day delivery, Monday 28 Nov for video games sold and shipped by Amazon

      • LOL, nah.
Sydney, Wolli Creek and prime account since 2019

        • Probably a Sydney problem then.

It says you are in Melbourne in your profile. Was comparing to my experience as someone from Melb.

          Location
          Melbourne

          • @cute as duck: Fair enough. Been living in Syd since January. Yet to update my profile.
That's unfortunate for us in Sydney then.

        • +1

          Hello neighbour. :)

      • Blacktown and it's gonna be delivered tomorrow 27th November according to the tracking for me

Was gonna hold out for the pro but end up getting normal

    • saying 5th dec for me

      • Keeps changing. I've seen 4 different dates since OP posted this.
        Hard to track it

      • I got that but now I got Dec 6th and I have prime. Weird.

  • -6

    199$ at JB :)

    • +1

      That's watch4

      • +3

        And 40mm

  • Hmmmm doubting my purchase

  • i have the versa 3, is this a notable upgrade?

    • Downgrade. You'll be moving to Wear OS which is garbage.

  • happy with watch4 44mm

  • I have an older Garmin watch that I got for cheap from one of those JB HIFI perks emails (I think its a Garmin Instinct?). Is this worth an upgrade? I literally only use my watch as a fitness tracker, changing a song on my phone and maybe reading a few texts.

  • +1

Hmm it shows as $479 minus $100 = $379 for the 44mm. Not $348, has it gone up in price?

  • Apparently this offer should still be valid right now, but it's not running anymore. The page on Amazon no longer exists. Yet terms say "This Offer commences at 00:00 AM AEDT on 25 November 2022 and ends at 11:59 pm AEDT on 28 November 2022 or while stocks last."

And there is still stock available. Don't trust the terms!
