Mod: Edited title for clarity

Didn't have time to post earlier but wanted to add a few comments as an owner of this tablet. Screen is amazing, I don't think you can beat it. The size is perfect and feels great in the hand very well put together and the aluminium back and super thin design make any other tablet I've seen, including Sgt 10.1 etc, look huge and bulky. I don't think you can compare this to the nexus as it has microSD port and for some that is in essential feature. Honeycomb itself is laggy but ics has began rolling out so shouldn't be much longer. Early reports say it runs super smoothly.
You pay more for this tablet but I think the quality and specs more than make up for it.

I'm using a book cover atm and it fits really nice with no added bulk. I guess you could eBay the pouch but I think it'll be useful to use with the dock during the week at work etc.

  • Should mention Wifi only model

  • i am tempted… T.T

    • +4

wait for the Google Nexus 7 then… lol :P

    • do also consider the Google Nexus 7, as that looks awesome for ~$250 without shipping.

Main differences as far I can tell:
SGT has larger screen (same amount of pixels though)
      SGT has expandable microSD slot
SGT has 16GB opposed to 8GB for base GN7 model
      GN7 has no rear camera
GN7 has a quad core cpu compared to SGT's dual score
This SGT comes with some extra goodies!

I personally would go for GN7, because tablets for me means having the internet in your hands. Just need a nice clear screen, and for it to be zippy. I don't have the need for heaps of disk space, rear camera or 3G/4G since you can just use your smart phone as a WiFi hotspot!

      • +2

GN7 also comes with Jellybean and gets updates directly from Google, which I would consider a big pro.

      • GN7 has the 16G version for $320 (incl P&H) too

  • So am I. Hmmm, would have been more tempted if it was last tax year though. Now I can't say its for the kids because they've changed the rules this year.

Its kind of pointless having the book cover and the pouch though isn't it? or am I missing something?

    • +3

geez man, it has an SD slot, what more do you want?!?!?! ;)

  • +3

FYI, it might be better to consider nexus 7, as it runs on a newer os, also some specs are better.

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/73676

    • And some of the specs on N7 are a deal breaker, just like the past storage gimped Nexuses.

      • +1

Not sure if this is with all Sammy phones and tablets, but my G Note can't run apps off the external SD card unless I custom flash it. This will be a big problem if you have lots of games and apps because you can only install under 6gb worth of apps thought it comes with 16gb internal storage.

        • +2

          There is a Nexus7 16GB model available.

    • I don't think nexus 7 is intended to compete with galaxy tab 7.7 as there is only 2 models I.e. 8gb and 16gb both without micro sd expansion slot. It is meant to compete with kindle fire and iPod touch instead?

    • No 32Gb micro SD card.
      OS does not support Flash
      NO SuperAMOLED screen

Where are the better specs ? more powerful Processor ? What for ? Give me more gb to put music and videos on it, and a good screen to watch them !!!

      • +1

With Nexus 7, you will always get the newest system if the hardware can support it.

        • +1

Going by the records.. Nexus device may get updates faster.. but they have more bugs.. :-P

SuperAMOLED wins any day for me too.

        • "Newest" is not always better (Vista was newer than XP) (Honeycomb newer than Froyo ?).
For this tablet, ICS 4.04 would be MUCH better than Honeycomb (yesterday I upgraded my P6800).
But to have the latest version is not an advantage unless you have honeycomb

  • dude! my sister is going overseas tomorrow…
    no GST back!
    doomed!

  • +2

Google Nexus tablet comes out this month, and it will be even cheaper than this. I would wait for that instead.

    http://nvonews.com/2012/07/03/google-nexus-7-tablet-vs-samsu…

    • +3

no microSD slot is a big downside for a lot of android tablet users
besides, you're comparing Google Nexus 7 with Samsung 7.0 tab 2.

This is 7.7 with RGB AMOLED screen

      • +2

No micro sd slot is actually the deal breaker for me, was really excited to get one, but because of that it is no go, much like the OneX.

        • I know, right? Nexusus are dead to me now. Hopefully Samsung doesn't follow suit or we'll be left with LG and ASUS as our only brand name option <shudder>.

        • Samsung aren't that stupid, I hope…

        • How much GB do you need? You're paying a premium for the privilege to have an SD slot, and then extra for the SD card itself.

Or you could just delete your movies when you're done and replace them with the next set. Unless you have 64GB of permanent data you need kept on? In which case I'd like to ask what it is and why you can't do without it.

For less on the Nexus you get Jellybean 4.1 as opposed to 2.3 Gingerbread OS, and much better hardware specs (4 core cpu, 12 core GPU). I'd say it's better value for money, unless you must have extra storage. I think I could live without it.

          Different strokes for different folks.

For me, AMOLED screens are the deal breaker because I don't like viewing the screen through blue cellophane. That rules out the entire line of Galaxy phones also.

        • I know, right? Nexusus are dead to me now. Hopefully Samsung doesn't follow suit or we'll be left with LG and ASUS as our only brand name option <shudder>.

The Nexus tablet is made by ASUS btw.

        • Their 10.1 (at least old model) doesn't have SD.

        • -5

How much GB do you need?

Why do you want to know what I do and don't store on my device? Is your name Google?

        • +1

lol and while everyone is looking suspiciously at Google, Facebook creeps up from behind and yoink

    • +1

And your link is comparing the Galaxy 7 not the 7.7 …

      • My intention wasn't to compare tablets.. but rather list the specs of the Nexus. It happened to be the first URL in my google search. That it had a Samsung 7" tablet being compared side by side with it is pure coincidence.

  • +1

I put it in the cart, put the code in and it says it's only going to cost me $272.00. Is this correct?

    Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 P6810 16GB Silver SAMP6810SIL 1 $359.00
    Subtotal $359.00
    Shipping & Handling $0.00
    Discount (TAB77BUNDLE ) -$87.00
    Grand Total (Excl.Tax) $239.36
    GST (10%)
    $32.64
    Tax
    $32.64
    Grand Total (Incl.Tax) $272.00

    • Wow if it is I'm grabbing one.

Thanks Google Nexus for forcing Samsung to drop prices on this far superior product.

    • must be a mistake from them, you are supposed to add those extras and then get the 87$ discount

      • I've put the order through but haven't paid for it yet; not sure if I should or not.

        • It won't go through, the code has been canceled

        • it doesnt work if you include shipping

        • Has already gone through for me

    • -5

Sorry this is mistake, you have to add extra accessories to get $87 discount

      • Even then it still doesn't work

      • What if the order was already made?

      • What are stock levels like rep? Will I have time to sleep on it before this deal gets OzBargained?

      • we would have loved a delayed response in this case!

        just kidding :P

  • Coupon code "TAB77BUNDLE " is not valid.

    • Think they realised the code is screwed.

    • Hi Stumo

Deal still valid, I am just try to fixup the code issue, let you know soon.

      • Hmm, while you're there, I don't really want the cover or pouch, and certainly not both!, but the dock would be good I guess. Or maybe a deal just on the bare tablet?

      • Hi are you guys selling the 3G model as well which is GT-p6800 ? thanks.

  • dosent even work for me……

  • I tried adding to cart and it charged shipping, total $372.80. Hmmmmmm….nice to see they test b4 posting here.

    • Sorry, any error will be adjusted.

    • if you already made order, just email us the order number, we will credit you the different.

    • +1

They didn't post here, a user did, still a valid point though.

  • I made an order with the code and it brought the price to 272, will this be honoured?

    • +2

      Yes of course it will.

    • 272 is a good deal. Please upload the tax invoice so I can try to go OW for a price beat.

  • Code doesn't work?

    • Try again now, you don't need add accessorie, all 3 accessories will be manually add in our end, sorry about this.

      • Hi all,

        Code issue has been fixed.

Please add all the accessories in your cart then use the same code.

  • Fyi the desktop dock seems pretty useless unless you want something to hold your device up in portrait mode. There is no hdmi port and you must take your tab out of any case you might be using.

The book cover case is not bad but it opens from the right which can be annoying. It does stand in landscape mode but is not very stable. I much prefer my Rock case which is similar to the iPad smart cover.

    • Good info thanks. I've kind of gone off the idea of this deal now. I eventually want to mount this in my car, so I don't need a case or dock. I had assumed the desktop dock had a few actual useful ports, but no. I might have to sit this one out, unless the rep comes up with a good bare tablet deal.

      • I just want confirmation on whether mine will be honoured or not.

        • +1

The rep said above that any error will be adjusted, but hopefully they'll let it slide through. Right rep?

        • We will honoured the deal @ $359 shipped + book cover case + Leather Pouch + Dock till expired or sold out.

      • -1

Why not +ve his comment then?

  • +1

    "Network lock: Unlocked"

    It's WIFI Only!

  • Hi All

Sorry for the coupon code issue, now should be working

All you need to do buy the TAB using the above coupon code, all accessories will be manually add in our end.

    • I have already ordered at the price of $272.00, will I still get the tablet at this price?

      • +4

It should otherwise it will lose its reputation. If they claim the accessories will be manually added from their end but not written in the orders or tax invoices, how do we know they are going to honour it too? It will also be hard for us to dispute even if you pay by PayPal.

      • He's ignored you the past 3 times.. good work rep

      • Unfortunately I doubt it,the rep already said it was a mistake.

Also lack of a direct response from the rep to you while still active in this thread, doesn't show much hope.

      • -4

        Hi Azza124

This deal is planning to go live tomorrow mid day due to lots of requests. This deal has just been activated without testing the code, please accept our apologies.

        • Sloppy.

        • -1

If it was planning to go live tomorrow then why would you promote it now?

        • +2

Someone else posted it, not the rep.

        • +1

The rep did posted in other thread initially, as mentioned in description.

        • +1

Apologies + a tablet @ $272 - You're a business, if you make a mistake it will cost you money. This is a good example, and also a cheap error : Only $87

        • In Australia, i don't think retailers pay for their mistakes as there is no law against this practice. In Taiwan, retailers do need to pay for their mistakes due to consumer laws (ie. one gym equipment company sold their rrp $4k system for $100 bucks due to online ordering system error and the company made a huge loss).

        • -1

Unless there is an obvious mistake they have to do it. I remember Dell shipping monitors for free last year due to a bug in their website.

    • But our invoice only shows the tab itself, so how do we prove we bought the accessories, like for warranty purposes?

It would be better to have them all shown in the cart/invoice.

  • Tab 7.7 32gb from oo.com.au for $399 seems to be a better deal then if we don't know if mobileciti is even going to honor the accessories pack. Even I received a less than perfect tablet from oo.com.au they agreed to apply a discount or full refund and customer services are not bad. Pls check if it is back in stock again.

    • That's a good deal, but there is room for improvement. I'm hoping memorycity can do a deal on just the tab.

    • +1

You will get accessories pack. 100%

      • I know I'll get it, but it's not showing on the invoice. If the cover falls apart after a months use, how do I prove to Samsung warranty that I actually bought it?

  • Hang on, I just noticed the item description shows 'silver'. Yuck! I think I'll wait as these are going to drop under $300 soon to match the Nexus IMO.

    • +1

I think these only come in silver.

The screen and bezel is black though.

  • ICS is rolling out as we speak.http://www.sammobile.com/2012/07/03/hot-samsung-start-ice-cream-sandwich-updates-galaxy-tablets/
The 7.73G has just received the update. WiFi not far away. Yes, I know that the Nexus has Jelly bean, but it's not like ICS is bad.

    • Yes. but did you forget that the dual core and less powerful limiting gpu on the 7.7 may be a problem? The lag between screen swipes can be quiet prominent. not as bad as the 10.1 thou.

      • The Mali400 GPU is either as powerful or just maybe ~10% performance difference. Tegra processors are seriously over hyped.

      • -1

Not as bad as the 10.1? Are you high? The 10.1 has older slower hardware compared to the 7.7.

Switch out the stock Touchwiz launcher and Honeycomb runs perfectly fine on the 7.7 with no lag.

        • What kind of comment is "are you high"? Looks at what i said. I said the 7.7 does have lag issues but not as bad as the 10.1. Ofcoz the 10.1 has older hardware. The whole reason why the 10.1 has more lag u 1di0t. I dont get what ur problem is with my comment

        • My bad i think i had a case of dyslexia reading your comment.

  • -1

Google Nexus Tab is better. This one is outdated.

    • G Nexus tab does not have sd slot.

    • +1

don't think one is better than the other, all depends on your needs
SGT has more features, but it is also more expensive

  • Last month I bought Toshiba 7inch Tab for just 198.00 from OW. Rather buying Samsung, I will wait for Google's TAB…………

  • Tried to apply the code and it doesn't work. This is a waste of time. I will neg if I could

    • Code is working, what issue do you have?

      • It would be better if the cart/invoice showed the accessories. All it shows is that we bougut the tab only. How is that supposed to work for warranty on the accessories?
