    Just get a buzz cut

  • Does it work?

    • +14

yes after about 3-4 months it's thickened.
      Now I'm like this: https://external-preview.redd.it/IQWP6uNd5Om20TFqyrPTqRtAAJY…

      • +3

+1 for that excellent "after" shot

      • +3

        Which one is you?

    • Yeah it helped thicken the parts where I was thinning out.

    • Definitely works but you need to be patient.

took me a good 2-3 months before any good results started showing.

    • Partner uses this, works well. But once you stop, it goes back to normal. I have been trying to get him to use rosemary water + peppermint oil and see if that helps him along with the regrain.

    • Its the side effects you need to be asking about

      • Less issues with the foam version. Liquid one is known to cause lots of dryness

        • Was more referring to loss of sex drive and other symptoms I cant remember right now

          • @Fish and Grits: Loss of sex drive was the Filastride (or whatever) oral medication right?

            • @[Deactivated]: There are also hormonal/sex-related side effects with minoxidil (taken orally, or when applied topically - as with this foam). ED/loss of libido are among side effects reported.

Still, for many, worth it to keep their hair - and ED side effects can be addressed with ED meds (eg daily cialis). YMMV.

              • @bangiebargie:

ED/loss of libido are among side effects reported

Lol this is like a Catch 22 - some guys might use this product to have a full head of hair to be attractive to women, then when the time comes to do the deed they can't get it up lol

                • @montorola: There is some irony here - but like I said, ED meds can probably help in this respect.

          • @Fish and Grits: Isn’t it something like 1% of people affected?

            • @maegajang: Not sure on the stats - but I've heard from more than one friend that minoxidil was a "boner killer". I am also a bit suspect of the stats on side effects (for both minoxidil and finasteride) because they're usually based on side effects reported during clinical trials. I would worry less if I knew what the exact mechanism of action was - but just to be clear, I still use this stuff.

          • +3

@Fish and Grits: For me I haven't noticed any changes. I'm still horny as hell.

    • Not for me :-(

    • For a little while (as long as you keep using it). But after a few years it stops working and you’ll be back where you started. Might as well just embrace the hair loss.

Also, this stuff can cause heart issues.

  • +1

I use this on my chest. Works wonders

    • +3

Ideal for perfecting this summer's "Greek look"

    • +4

I use this on my girlfriend's back. It also works wonders

  • Thanks OP

Been waiting for it to go on sale again.

    • How much was it before sales?

      • $120 off memory

        • aargh. I just bought it with that price last month. :(

          • @josephs: Well might as well stock up another now.

They usually go out of stock quick at this price.

        • Actually it's usually $148

  • Is this the stuff that's like kryptonite to cats…?

    • Yes, not safe for cats or pregnant wife.

      • +4

Thanks. Pregnant wife might be related to hair loss….

        • definitely not safe for pregnant cats

  • +10

Why would balding ozbargainers want to regain hair? you save so much money not getting haircuts

    • +5

because we aren't ready to let go, obviously

    • Some people don't wish to look like a mirrored bowling ball.

    • -2

self confidence issues, thinking hair gets women

  • How do you find foam Vs dropper? Seems that some people say foam is less irritating but worse results than dropper?

    • +2

I find the foam easier to use but less effective but the dropper tends to leave the hair wet which makes it look thinner.

  • You can use this to help grow a beard, check
    r/minoxbeards

  • BEWARE: It falls out when you stop using the cream.

Not only that, but the Regaine kill off your remaining hair and replace them with Regaine hair.. which falls out when you stop using the cream. This stuff actually made my receding hairline worse. I regret ever using it.

    • +3

How do you know you weren’t just going to lose those hairs naturally?

    • +1

Your hair is meant to initially fall out and then new hair will start to grow.

How long did you use the product for before hair started falling out?

    • Confirmation bias over 9000

    • +1

Technically, Minoxidil causes hair lost in short term for some people, then they quickly gain a lot more healthier hair after.

  • +2

My whole body got hairy from that stuff as a side affect of applying to my balding head, stopped using it a long time ago. I've saved at least $3000 in hairdressing fee's since picking up a razor. But also spent money on laser body hair removal.. Guess it evened out

  • Apply 2 times a day? Won’t people at work smell the regaine? 😧

    • +1

The smell goes away pretty quickly (except from hands, but wash them of course)

    • +1

This is how I plan my day. I get up at 6AM and apply it straight away.

Then When i get to work around 830AM i have a shower (we have bathrooms at work) and apply moisturizer.

You don't have to have it in for the full 4 hours just until it dries.

  • +1

Wear gloves when applying to your affected area else people will wonder why you have hairy palms.

    • +1

I haven't noticed that, since my palms are hairless anyway, I would suggest definitely washing it before you "do your business" unless you want more hair down there.

    • +1

I just wash my hand straight after applying.

  • +2

FYI you can get 6x60g of another brand from ebay for same price. I've been using this one.

    • +1

Good share, but worth noting some people won't want the dropper.

    • How do you know it's ligit?

      • It's all the same stuff, do some Googling.
Here's some different brand names minoxidil is sold under: Alomax, Alopek, Alopexy, Alorexyl, Alostil, Aloxid, Aloxidil, Anagen, Apo-Gain, Axelan, Belohair, Boots Hair Loss Treatment, Botafex, Capillus, Carexidil, Coverit, Da Fei Xin, Dilaine, Dinaxcinco, Dinaxil, Ebersedin, Eminox, Folcare, Guayaten, Hair Grow, Hair-Treat, Hairgain, Hairgaine, Hairgrow, Hairway, Headway, Inoxi, Ivix, Keranique, Lacovin, Locemix, Loniten, Lonnoten, Lonolox, Lonoten, Loxon, M E Medic, Maev-Medic, Mandi, Manoxidil, Mantai, Men's Rogaine, Minodil, Minodril, Minostyl, Minovital, Minox, Minoxi, Minoxidil, Minoxidilum, Minoximen, Minoxiten, Minscalp, Mintop, Modil, Moxidil, Neo-Pruristam, Neocapil, Neoxidil, Nherea, Noxidil, Oxofenil, Pilfud, Pilogro, Pilomin, Piloxidil, Recrea, Regain, Regaine, Regaxidil, Regro, Regroe, Regrou, Regrowth, Relive, Renobell Locion, Reten, Rexidil, Rogaine, Rogan, Si Bi Shen, Splendora, Superminox, Trefostil, Tricolocion, Tricoplus, Tricovivax, Tricoxane, Trugain, Tugain, Unipexil, Vaxdil, Vius, Womens Regaine, Xenogrow, Xue Rui, Ylox, and Zeldilon.

        • But how do you know it's not just paint thinners in the bottle?

    • +1

Thank you for sharing this, I am gonna give this a try, Amazon has some really good reviews on this https://www.amazon.com/Months-Kirkland-Minoxidil-percentage-…

      • Its the exact same stuff in the exact same amount. Its identical to the brand name.

    • Don’t Kirkland also make cheap vodka? 😨

      https://www.costco.com.au/Wine-Spirits/Spirits/Vodka/Kirklan…

  • Thanks for posting OP. Is there any indication of how long the sale price will last?

    • +2

it goes away without notice, could be a week. Tricky because it doesn't even show a strike out price, but trust me… it won't be forever, I made the mistake of HODL'ing once.

    • It's not matter of when the sale price will last, it's how much stock will be left.

And this morning all places had stock but most places are out of stock fast.

  • -6

jeez, man up and go bald gracefully

    • Username checks out.

      • -3

        u bet it does baldy

        • +2

Ignoring the primary school level insults.
"Rolling with the punches" in 2022 when you have all this great science to assist you and fix issues in your life makes you a mouse, not a man.
Obviously you have deep insecurity issues and that's really sad.
It's not too late to sort your life out!

          • -2

@theory: I'm crossing my fingers for ya man.. I hope she says yes.

          • -2

@theory: A bloke who takes regaining hair crap telling me I have insecurity issues… Love it.

  • My brother is going bald, will this help to get his hair back or does it just work on existing hair

    • Depends how bald he has gotten.

Suggest he see a specialist but theres no harm in trying the product first.

Would recommend to also get a derma roller and take biotin supplements.

    • Also depends on how recent the hair loss is - I have heard, anecdotally, people speaking of a "five year window" for restoring hair loss, but this really could just be conjecture.

  • will this help me even out my back hair?

  • Its just a generic medication…..
You dont need the brand name.
Just get the generic for half the price of this one even at this sale price. Gezus..

  • -2

    Just embrace the bald.

  • Just tried the foam after using the dropper for months. Omg I've been missing out, it's such a more pleasant application process in general. Well worth the extra $$

    • Just make sure you are filling up half the cap for use

      • are you normally meant to fill half a cup and then scoop it out and apply or is it just a guestimate?

        • Half the cap :o

        • Half a cap which is approx. the 1mg minoxidil recommended dose.

          • @SpeedRunnerLink: Yeah my question was more how do you do the application? Are you literally spraying half a cap in said cap and then scooping out and applying or just guessing you've used half a cap when applying it directly to the scalp.

  • Guys, I have a spare 3 bottles unused sealed as it's not suiting my scalp well. If someone needs it, please let me know.
