Asus GeForce RTX 3080 Turbo 10G V2 OEM Blower Style Graphics Card $1049 + Delivery @ Umart

203

Just sharing as I saw the price had dropped.
I'd been considering this as an upgrade from a 2080Super, as I have a limited size case and like the idea of blowing the heat out the back.

Personally undecided as the new AMD RDNA3 cards could be interesting.

This is part of Black Friday / Cyber Monday deals for 2022

Blower cards run very hot and very loud. Keep that in mind.

    • Agree, blower cards for small form factor are not great for noise or heat dissipation in my experience

      • +7

        Entirely dependent on the case

        • +4

yeah my man here is right. Had a gtx980 blower in a fractal node202 which ran pretty hot (~80C) but the blower style kicked the heat out so the CPU wouldn't throttle. The blower style does still have it's use cases but yeah still pretty niche. 30 series cards have the option to be undervolted so that could help the noise/heat issues.

          • +1

@nibblers: That's the exact case I had in mind.

I had one myself. Loved it. 2080 Asus Blower. 9600k from memory.

Fractal has an update to that legendary case BTW…

    • +2

I would likely be downclocking to keep heat and noise reasonable, in my (Thermaltake The Tower 100) this is a good fit, but I presently have a 2080 Super in there and that's pretty good with heat to be honest, given the only real extraction fan is the CPU's 120mm Radiator at the top.

For that reason I'm interested in the new AMD cards too.

    • only use is waterblocking, but that requires a block

  • OEM = no box?

    • oem style, like nvidia founders edition. It should come in an unopened box, brand new unless stated

      • +1

Nah. This comes in a moulded foam tray packed in inside whatever box they find to fit it. OEM parts come in trays.

      • came in a brown card board box that just fits. The package can vary.

  • +4

Galax has been $999 in the past, several times.

  • +14

What is this disgusting thing? And why is it so expensive?

    AMD please save us.

    • +7

calling it now, 7900 xtx is gonna be $2200AUD and perform 8% better than a 4080 and but then drop to 3080 performance with ray tracing enabled.

      • Crystal ball #activated

      • Probably 3090 performance with RT enabled. But it will probably be less than 2K and prices will start falling once sales reduce early next year. But if they pull out low stock trick like nvidia did with 4090, then all is doomed.

  • +2

Holding out for AMD to release a 2 slot RX 7800 or 7700XT…

    • +4

yeah but thats gonna be quite awhile, somewhere mid year next year? and by the time its at reasonable price its damn christmas again

really wish we had couple decent 6800xt deals this BF but oh well

      • +2

Same, I’ve been searching everyday but nope, the prices went up this past 2 weeks?? Like what the hell, just give the the 6900 xt for $909 again plsss

  • +8

6900xt for $900 was far superior. Rip gpu prices

    • +6

Who would have knew that ended being best deal of the year

      • +1

Not if you got face masks!

        • +2

Im still waiting for the return to be paid by Amazon for the pink face masks

      • Legit looks to be the case and with giftcards and even better deal.

      • I would have given that to the $350 6600xt (excluding price errors)

  • +1

I got my ASUS GTX1080 Ti for $894 over 5 years ago. Not sure I would pay this much for a 3080 -

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/314043

    • And to think that was with the btc mining craze on gpus…

  • +7

I got the 3080Ti version of this from Umart recently.

I've used blower cards and single fan cards quite a lot, being an ITX enthusiast.

    Couple of things to note:

    • No box. It was shipped nicely in a foam holder, within a larger box.

    • It is loud - out of the box. However, there's one simple fix that ups the resistance and makes it much quieter: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HYMG8Q49QQY

There's no instructions and I found this out by accident. It's a must-do fix before you close up your case.

    More information here: https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/v8ly2o/fan_du…

    • I get similar benchmarks to regular 3080tis

    • I think it looks quite cool and fits nicely in my NR200P.

At first, I hated how noisy it was and wanted to return it. Upon finding the fix, undervolting slightly, and setting up a custom fan curve with "Fan Control", this thing is totally fine. It sits right next to my desk and I can't really hear it most of the time. Even under load it's not bad now and rarely runs very hot even with demanding games.

You could have got a PNY 12GB 3080 for $1,099.00 back in July. Where are the HODLers now?

  • Asus TUF OC was this price 3-4 weeks ago via Computer Alliance eBay with Plus. RoG Strix OC was $1150. This is a bad deal.

I suppose supply is now a lot more constrained though…

  • The ASUS Radeon RX 6600 XT is a much better deal if looking for a tie me over until more stuff comes out and prices settle etc… (mid 2023)

    • Looks like I me be opting for a.tie me over card until then rip

    • I’m still debating wether I should keep using my 1060, or a 6700xt to wait for the next gen 7800xt

Would love a good 6800xt deal now but

      • I'll be selling my 6800XT REF on OCAU in a month or two… So you can grab a decent second hand deal.

  • Would this not be a better purchase? A 6800 XT:
    https://www.amazon.com.au/PowerColor-RadeonTM-Graphics-Raytr…

    • Not when Newegg had 6800 XT's for $800 3 days ago

      • True… I completely missed that deal.

        • Yeah most people did. I didn't realise how low the current stock of the outgoing GPU's are and slept on the deal expecting to see similar prices locally. Woke up the next day and it was sold out.

          • @DecoAus: Same thing happening to me. Waited and lost out on good prices :(

  • +1

From personal experience, blower style cards rival vacuum cleaners for noise, they are that loud. Their only real advantage is that they are often thinner (e.g. taking up only 2 slots instead of 2.5 slots) which may better suit smaller cases. But the noise when it gets going will drive you and others within earshot crazy. Can't recommend any blower GPU.

  • +4

lol, 10gb 3080s were posted for sub $1000 MONTHS ago and this sorta stuff still getting upvoted

  • +2

The used market is your best friend for 3080s - 850$ is much easier to swallow and it's not a blower card

    • Absolutely, many even have warranty left.

  • +1

No way i'd be going for a 3xxx card such price , evenif 3080.
Used will be at least 20% cheaper , thanks for posting though!

  • -1

    Horrible deal and price.

  • Thing is, most of y'all are right when saying wouldn't pay this much for 3xxx, but the stock is likely been purchased from "chip shortage" pandemic era.

    I wouldn't either just saying

Look at all the sad pathetic losers reporting/revoking negative votes. You really need to get a life!

Someone reported my negative vote (for some sad reason) and amazingly a mod actually removed it.

My comment was "not a bargain". The card is 2 years old now and only $60 cheaper than msrp in Nov 2020. This site is a complete disgrace to it's name.

  • -2

    Not a bargain

  • Has anyone found a waterblock for this model?
