Also just picked one up from Brisbane (Milton) store.

  • I like Brother printers because they can be reset easily. Using refill ink is so cheap.
I heard that they have a new firmware that limits the use of 3rd party cartridges. I wonder if this FW changes the way resetting work on Brother printers.

    • Bought from Office works last week and used a cheap $20 high volume toner cartridge (instead of the starter one).
Works perfectly out of the box.

I'll make sure to block the firmware updates.

      • where did you get the toner from?

        thanks

        • I just get them off ebay.
Some people in the office works thread recommend inkststion too.

      • What are the FW versions in your machine?
        Main,SUB1,SUB5

    • IRCC the 3770 model is better with duplex scanning. You can try ebay with the current 22% off

      • Sadly none of them offer the eBay plus discount

  • Turn off auto update the first time you turn on your printer or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wSiCJd905sI
I think you can roll back the firmware if you can find the older firmware files.
