  • Anyone got one of those pop-up tents from this store?

    • +1

I own the popup and they’re inflatable, both really good tents. High quality and really well designed and thought out.

    • +1

I got one called instant or 2 seconds tent, used a few times and my friends get jealous on how easy it is to set up. Not very roomy tho, but good enough for one or two persons.
Haven’t tested in heavy rain conditions myself, probably not as good as the expensive ones.

    • +1

I have the fresh and black 2 person, it’s def not 2 second but it’s pretty good! Get the 3 person if you can take the weight and size. We use it for boat based kayak camping so went for the smaller one.

I'm really surprised these guys are still around

    • +9

Huge in Europe. Was always my go to, for any sporting or activities gear.

Did they not really take off over here? Can't say I've ever bought anything from them, but wondering why you'd think they'd fail

      • Yeah I remember going to Decathlon in Paris in 1997! They've been around forever.

      • +1

It's always been pretty busy everytime I've visited the Tempe store

      • +7

Surprised it's not more popular on ozbargain - it's the go to value store for outdoor stuff. Their down jackets can be cheaper than macpac on discount and the quality is decent.

      • Interested too, they're a good one stop shop for me and decent value and quality. Is there something wrong with them?

        • +1

Agreed. No reasons why they won't be around? I am actually surprised Rebel still around tbh

          • +1

@c9: Only reason rebel is still around is because they've secured great store locations ages ago. Not sure if they own the building tho.
Decathlon would be way more popular if they would develop micro stores bit like Woolworths Metro.
Also decathlon are probably operating at lower margin

            • @ShouldIBuyIt: In Singapore they have micro stores + big stores, and are the go to sports store in the country

              • @skeeo: Yep, surprised they didn't develop more here. And bring the full NBA range. Very jealous of the shoes available in Europe (at least last year models)

    • Why? They have good coverage of equipment for all the major sports and outdoor activities. Plus their stuff is good quality for the price.

  • Any minimum spend ?
Usually they’ll say $100 minimum spend

    • +1

      For shipping? It's $150

    • +1

Nothing that indicates minimum spend - should just be a flat 20% off all items. As mentioned you'll need to hit $150 if you want free postage though

  • anyone tried their inflatable kayaks? looking to get one

    • +3

I have the Itiwit 3-person kayak and it's amazing. (https://decathlon.com.au/products/2-3-person-inflatable-crui…)
We sometimes paddle with 2 adults and 2 young kids on board (max limit of 230kg) and it's very stable and reasonably fast.

Pumping up the kayak with the high-volume pump from Decathlon takes about 10 to 15 minutes for the complete setup. Packing up is fast but it takes a while to dry. I use the garage with a fan running to dry the kayak before storage.

If you can, I recommend getting the drop-stitch versions (X100, X100+) which are easier to dry. Decathlon had a sale last month where these kayaks were on 50% off.

Edit: I have recently got the Ozito inflator which makes pumping up the kayak so much easier. https://www.bunnings.com.au/ozito-pxc-18v-cordless-high-volu…

    Everyone so Salty today

    • I didn’t expect to see decathlon last either. One near Costco Moorabbin always quiet

  • +1

Great product range overall, got my family whole set of roller skate and wet suit sorted. If you can wait for their weekend special discount usually have a larger saving, but usually a line of products tho.

Decathlon is a chain of sports' stores that started in France in the 70's. Initially they were very similar to Rebel, just selling sport's brands. But then they shifted to developing their own brands and products with big investments in R&D and came up with some pretty cool stuff. They invented the 2 seconds tent which was a huge hit, or these snorkeling masks that cover your face fully (I have one and they're great) + other products. When I came to Australia I was disappointed by the offer in sports equipments, I found it was all very premium and expensive and apart from Rebel to an extent, there wasn't one store to get all your sport's gear. I was happy when Decathlon opened, large offer, lower prices, and I'm rarely disappointed by their products even technical clothes or gear. I'm a bit biased, but truly think it's good value for money.

  • They don't do shipping to WA, at least for when I tried checking out :(

    • I just bought few during black Friday’s

      • now that the sale is over, the shipping works zzz

        • I just bought few more during 20% sale and it worked too .. also I purchased through shopped back for more discounts

  • Worked with the $10 off from sign up with membership. Comes up with an error but takes a small amount off each item
