    GET TO THE CHECKOUT

  • -4

Good on Sony and Amazon. Finally seeing a bit of discount.

    • +27

What discount? normal price should be $749 to begin with, actually it should be $649 for 2yrs old hardware.

      • +22

Good thing I don't own shares in a company you own

      • +19

With all due respect mate, with the massive inflation and supply chain problems and a huge demand, all hike the prices up.

I think the old retail price may not be a 'bargain', but I think buying it for much less than that is probably not realistic.

        • +2

Xbox didn't get a price rise and the switch has dropped in price as has the GPU"s

          • @Spendmore: MS has rumoured they may

            • +2

@scuderiarmani: MS has started a rumour they may?

                • +1

@scuderiarmani: That sucks, I bet it's gamepass that takes the hit.
Strange how previous generations of consoles gradually got cheaper as they aged, the same mechanism for that exists and should to some extent be offsetting inflation.
                  Just corporate greed I suppose.

                  • +11

@Spendmore: As mentioned. Currency rates are a huge factor.

A war doesn't help…. How's our fuel prices? They affect transport.

Covid doesn't help…. Lack of workers etc etc

                    Demand doesn't help….

So many different factors this generation.

                    • +4

@scuderiarmani: Those factors (apart from the war) were there at release when the price was lower, fuel prices are high at the moment but have been this high before, in fact the price of oil is sitting around the same price as it was in 2010.
Too many companies using COVID as an excuse still.

                      • +1

@Spendmore: 10 years ago our dollar was infront.

Love how some flog negged me for linking news and facts.

                        • @scuderiarmani: Yeah don't worry about the negs they mean nothing.
Yes the exchange rate was way better then but not to different to the rate when the PS5 released

                      • +1

@Spendmore: The contracts for the initial batches were signed and sealed with manufacturers before COVID. Inflation takes time to trickle.

      • +3

        Boo-urns!

      • +2

For what it's worth, it's a hard to get product, and the exchange rate of the AUD has taken a bit of a beating over the last year or so. The RRP is now $799.

        • -3

          Same as Xbox…..oh no wait.

      • +1

        Yeah maybe in fairy land.

      • No, you can't find the 2yrs old hardware. It's new hardware with cut down material heatsink.

      • +1

Just eat the damn orange buy the damn playstation.

      • +1

You didn't account for inflation since the console first came out. And I'm not talking about scalpers inflating the price market. Actually inflation across the world and raw materials.

  • Oh silly old Sony 🥴

  • +8

Far out, Amazon be stockpiling them PS5's.

    • +1

It was at $799 for awhile then they dropped the price to the real price.

  • Price drop for impending PS5 Slim release /s

    • +1

PS5 Slim is not even in production as the current PS5 sales haven’t plateau yet. Maybe in 2024?

      • +1

        PS5 Pro next year

        • Do you have valid sources on there being a PS5 pro? Because I doubt they will be one.

          • @Bissy: No, he's just talking crap. I'd guess there will probably be one in two years though, maybe three.

            • +2

@Fappo: Wow really going out on a limb with that prediction!

        • +2

          PS5 Pro Max Ultra 6G

        • +15

Your mum is due in Q3 2023.

          • @Fappo: And you're an idiot. What are you? 10 years old?

            • @fuzor: My bad, I thought you meant PS5 Pro and were talking crap. PS5 Slim does seem like a possibility.

  • +5

    Mmm nandos

  • +2

    Tough crowd.
People bringing up old RRP as if Covid inflation isn’t a thing.
Heck, even roast chooks at Colesworth are now $11 each.

    • +1

Xbox and switch didn't get a "inflation" price rise.

      • +3

        Supply vs. demand.
If I can keep my price high and still manage to sell out every stock drop I’d do the same.
People act like big corps ain’t out to make the most money they can.

        • -1

Xboxes have been outstripping demand for some time.

        • +2

You say it's about inflation, then say supply vs demand, then say they're a big corp trying to make the most money they can. Pick a lane wow, why are you even making excuses for a big corp, you seriously think Sony couldn't eat the price. Like you said they are just trying to make more money and people are dumb enough to defend that so they get away with doing it.

          • +1

@Mooncakes: they get away with doing it because they sell all of the product they produce, what people say on internet forums is meaningless

          • +3

@Mooncakes: My original comment was never about PS5 vs Xbox vs Switch.
OP posted a deal that was less than current RRP, has 160+ upvotes, and sold out in 20 minutes, yet people still have reasons to moan about how non-deal it was.
            Again, tough crowd.

            • +2

@zonra: I think it's fair to have complaints that Sony increased the price, just a few months ago this post would've been just RRP but cheered for being a good deal now and it's just crazy to see.

The thing that is annoying the most is people being ok with price increases as it's just "the hard times" now while companies post record profits and people defend price increases which is WILD to me. It's the Apple model being applied to everything. Instead of complaining about price increases I keep seeing people dismiss it as just part of living now and actually defending it haha, this applies to everything.

      • +1

Some would accept the PS5 as down payment for 4 weeks rent

  • good price

  • AND it's gone.

  • +1

Sold out in Dec 2022 within 20 mins!!

    WoW

  • +3

Some people may have got used to its appearance, but I'm still waiting for a smaller and less bombastic version.

  • +1

At this point, I think people who were kin to get a PS5 should already got one by any means. Maybe, most people who haven't bought a PS5 don't need one actually?

Therefore, I'm so curious about the reason why Sony believes we want to pay $799 for a PS5.

    • +4

It sold out in 19 mins. OOS. Demand is still high due to coming Christmas season.

      • +1

Nah, at $749 there is demand from resellers.

        • It's most likely a combination of both.

But yeah, regardless of the "source of demand", it's obvious demand is still sky high.

Even MORE so if there are resellers that are getting away with selling at higher prices.

  • See other new offers from $1,007.95

This item is no longer available from the seller you selected.

  • OOS now @ $749
