Bonus Status Credit Campaign Terms and Conditions

^Status Credit terms and conditions
Velocity Frequent Flyer members must link their Velocity membership to their Flybuys household and must remain linked until 11:59pm AEDT 31 December 2022 to earn Velocity Frequent Flyer Status Credits under this Promotion. Only one Velocity membership can be linked to a Flybuys household at any one time. Between 12.00am AEDT 1 December 2022 and 11.59pm AEDT 31 December 2022 (‘Promotion Period’), Members who link or have already linked their Velocity Frequent Flyer membership to their Flybuys account can earn up to a maximum of 40 Status Credits during the Promotion Period through the following:

a) Members who opt into Velocity Auto Transfer will receive an earn rate of 4 Velocity Frequent Flyer Status Credits for every $100 (including GST) spent in total across Coles, Coles Online, Liquorland, and First Choice Liquor Market during the Promotion Period when they scan their Flybuys card at the time of purchase and remain opted into Velocity Auto Transfer until the end of the Promotion Period (up to a maximum of 40 Status Credits during the Promotion Period). Spend is after savings, discounts and vouchers and excludes the purchase of gift cards, tobacco, tobacco related products, charity donations and delivery/service fees. This earn rate applies on and when Members opt into Velocity Auto Transfer provided the Member remains opted into Velocity Auto Transfer until the end of the Promotion Period; or

b) Members will receive an earn rate of 2 Velocity Frequent Flyer Status Credits for every $100 (including GST) spent in total across Coles, Coles Online, Liquorland, and First Choice Liquor Market during the Promotion Period when they scan their Flybuys card at the time of purchase (up to a maximum of 20 Status Credits during the Promotion Period). Spend is after savings, discounts and vouchers and excludes the purchase of gift cards, tobacco, tobacco related products, charity donations and delivery/service fees. This earn rate applies until Members opt in to Velocity Auto Transfer and meet the criteria in (a), or if Members do not remain opted into Velocity Auto Transfer until the end of the Promotion Period.

No fractions of Status Credits will be allocated, only whole Status Credits. Members who opt into Velocity Auto Transfer during the Promotion Period but have accrued Status Credits through option (b) can only earn up to a maximum of 40 Status Credits in total during the Promotion Period. No retrospective claims for Status Credits will be accepted at any time, even in instances where due to technology malfunctions eligible spend is unable to be added to the Flybuys household account. Members who have selected family pooling will have their Status Credits pooled from Contributing Accounts to the Beneficiary account. Please allow up to 4 weeks after the end of each calendar month for your Velocity Frequent Flyer Status Credits to be credited. Velocity Frequent Flyer Status Credits will not appear on your Flybuys statement, see your Velocity account for your Status Credit balance. Velocity members also need to fly on Virgin Australia marketed flights to earn Eligible Sectors in addition to Status Credits to upgrade or maintain a new level of membership.

Transfer terms and conditions
If you’ve linked your Velocity Frequent Flyer membership to your Flybuys household account, you can choose to manually transfer a minimum of 1,000 Flybuys points at a time to receive 500 Velocity Points per 1,000 Flybuys points transferred to Velocity. Or, you can turn on Auto Transfer and if you choose to do this, your entire existing Flybuys points balance (to the highest multiple of 1,000 Flybuys points) will be automatically transferred to your linked Velocity account, and every 1,000 Flybuys points you subsequently collect will be automatically transferred into 500 Velocity Points. Only one Velocity membership can be linked to a Flybuys household at any one time. To turn on Auto Transfer, the full name and date of birth on your Flybuys household account and linked Velocity membership must match. You can de-link or manage your linked accounts at any time at partners.flybuys.com.au/velocity-frequent-flyer/. Visit flybuys.com.au/transfer to manually transfer your Flybuys points. Alternatively, to turn on Auto Transfer, visit partners.flybuys.com.au/velocity-frequent-flyer/ and sign in to your Flybuys account then turn your Auto Transfer preference to ‘On’. This selection will apply to all members under that specific Flybuys household account. You can turn your Auto Transfer preference to ‘Off’ at any time and will still be able to manually transfer your Flybuys points to Velocity.

Please allow up to 48 hours for Velocity Points to be credited to your linked Velocity account and for your Flybuys points balance to be updated. Once Flybuys points have been redeemed for Velocity Points they can’t be returned to your Flybuys account. Standard Flybuys Terms and Conditions apply to the collection of Flybuys points.

    I'm just a bit unclear on the wording. Does each shop need to be >$100 to receive the 4 status credits, or if I do 2x$60 shops I would still get the 4 status credits (assuming you turn on auto redemption)?

      Nah - they work out your total eligible spend at the end of the month - divide by 100, and process the Status Credits a few days into the new month

        I don’t think that’s correct - my offer wording is “For this month only, earn 2x Status Credits if you link your account with Flybuys (or even better, 4x Status Credits if you turn on Auto Transfer) when you spend at least $100 at Coles, Coles Online, Liquorland or First Choice Liquor Market and scan your Flybuys card at the time of purchase.*
        Previous experience also suggests credits come in for every $100 but only if you spend at least $100 at checkout.

  • And do Virgin status credits expire after 12 months as well as count towards lifetime status like Qantas?

      No lifetime status (yet)

      Virgin use a 12 month rolling year unlike Qantas

        Qantas also uses a 12-month membership based year to obtain non-lifetime status.
        Its going to be a far stretch for a lot of people to obtain the 7000 LSCs needed to obtain Silver Lifetime.

          No, Virgin and Qantas do their status different.

          Qantas has an anniversary year. Eg. Your status resets on June 30 every year.

          Virgin is a rolling 12 months, with no anniversary date.

            I do wonder what the Status Credit requirements it would be for lifetime VA status. Over on FlyerTalk its looking promising that VA will be the next SA member. And it would be great for Velocity members to obtain such status.

          • @BillyG687: But Virgin tier status does have anniversary date. If you don't earn enough status before the anniversary, your tier status will go back one (unless it's a basic one) ie Gold back to Silver. So your status credits might be 12 months rolling but not your tier status.

            For Qantas, all status credits go to zero one day after the anniversary date.

    I have 70k points in my flybus that I am keeping for a good velocity offer, can I turn auto transfer just for the new points?

      As soon as auto-transfer is turned on, most of the points will go to Virgin.

      I converted all my Flybuys points to Flybuys dollars before turning it on and use those Flybuys dollars for this offer.

        • I still need about 50 status credits in 3 months to retain Gold so I go for this deal. I prefer Flybuys dollars as I shop at Coles. Once your points go over to Virgin, you can't take them back. It all depends on your preference, Virgin points or Flybuys dollars.

      • So you can convert existing Flybuys points in your account to take advantage of this promo?

        I thought it’s only applicable to new purchases over $100 in Dec?

  • So there is a cap of earning 120 status points a year via Flybuys. I'm assuming the bonus points this month will be impacted by that cap.

          Same here, but it's alleged that it's only the Coles ones that are there, and not the ones from Liquorland and First Choice.
