  • Sorry mate, is this for a single speaker only?

    • Hey mate, yes for a single speaker :)

Didn't realise Aussies had picked up on that American trend to sell things that only work in pairs as separate units.

          LCR set up my dude.

          As in left, centre, right.

For home theatre ideally your left and right speakers match the centre. The typical centre design being a 'sideways' version of the uprights has been done to fit around TVs. Get an acoustically transparent screen, project onto that, and an LCR setup behind, all of a sudden sounds clearer, without going in to further detail, the there's less distortion due to speaker placement. LCR isn't a new concept.

M&K are one of the best home theatre system companies too, they know what they are selling.

      • I couldn't seem to find a matching centre speaker on your site. Do you have any?

        • Most of the M&K range is sold as each as they can be used as centre speakers as well as left and rights :)

  • Any deals on in walls or more powerful on walls? I need LR to complete my HT.

    • We can work something out for you if you're really keen! Give us a call at either store and we'll talk about what exactly you need and what we can work out price wise :)

  • @FunkyDan know if you'll be stocking the new MK D series? Interested in the D85…..

I was looking around at some cheap floor standers and under related items was a set of Splendour speakers at $45k.

Takes me back to my childhood, 3-way wide profile speakers. But you’d have to choose, a brand new midrange car or a set of speakers.

If I was in the market for such speakers, I’d save a little more and get a set of those ones that look like snail shells, I think they are about $60k a number of years ago. Probably transmission line systems.

    • Devialets? If I were spending they much on a pair I'd definitely be finding something that I enjoy the sound of, I haven't had a comparison session with them and others in their class though. At this stage though I'm not spending they much on speakers haha

  • Bowers and Wilkins Nautilus? I recall the were silly expensive and about 100kg each.

  • Noob question. My amp is 8ohms, will it run these 4ohm speakers? Also, do you need more power to run 4ohm speakers than 8ohm speakers? Thanks in advance.

Check your amp manual to be sure. There may be writing on the chassis. The most common limit is 2Ohm speakers, a lot of amps will struggle with that. A lot of amps will do well with 4Ohm speakers.

You will get more power going to the speakers when driving 4Ohm speakers instead of 8Ohm.
      For example here is specification data for a certain amplifier: Power Output (8 / 4 Ohm RMS) 45 W / 60 W .

The amp most likely will run hotter when driving 4Ohm speakers.

      • Thank you, Very heipful.
