Samsung Evo Plus SDXC Flash Memory Card 512GB $69 / 256GB $35 + Shipping ($0 C&C/ in-Store) @ The Good Guys

1290

JB newsletter had deals on SD cards, then I saw The Good Guys going one better.

512gb:
https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/samsung-512gb-micro-sdxc-evo-…

256gb:
https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/samsung-256gb-micro-sdxc-evo-…

Both are U3, V30, A2, UHS-I, up to 130MB/s (read), and limited 10yr warranty.

Someone mentioned Sandisk Ultras are fast enough for the Nintendo Switch. These being a class above, I figure it's a no-brainer for me to finally stop juggling my digital-only library.

Also tagging as Switch accessory for exposure, so let us know in the comments if these are not suitable for whatever reason.

Good luck with the bargain hunting these holidays, and Merry Christmas y'all!

      Also, nice!

But yeah never seen the 512 price at $69 until recently.

        • +2

          price at $69

          <insert nice meme here>

    • Apart from the 512GB, isn't this a duplicate of the deal I posted?

      • +2

That is amazon. This is Goodguys.

        So same same but different.

        And this has 512GB.

        • I guess but I did mention that in the description and added The Good Guys to the store domain section. I didn't have room in the title

    • Damn, I hate that its even better than the recent amazon evo select deal…

e: Nvm that was under $33 each.

    • Same price at Bing Lee eBay.

  • +1

Good on ya guys, quick with the title edits. Thanks!

  • time to use that moto g coupon? #sadface

  • Wonder if JB will price match - $89 there - https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/samsung-evo-plus-512gb-mi…

    • +1

I'm sure they will, they pricematched Bing Lee for the Evo Plus 64gb

    • They should. I mean i got JB to pricematch OW and Harvey Norman before.

    • +1

      They did via online chat.

  • +1

Was just looking for one for Oled switch

Its a meme of this young mexican girl whos family had the conundrum of choosing between hard shell or soft shell tacos.

I know a harsh life said girls family lives. Imagine the burden.

Any how she solves the predicament they have gotten themselves into by suggesting why not both.

    • +1

Eneloops used to be $19.95 at the good guys, then $22… now at $29.95, its not worth.

      • I had no idea about the price rise. that sucks :/

  • Anyone have any experience using these in security cameras?

Or do I need to get those "high endurance" ones?

    • +10

I would say still go for high endurance for security cameras or dashcams.

    • +5

Depends. I'd suggest if you are using it recording 24/7 then get high endurance.

If you security camera in your front yard record on motion and basically all you are going to catch is neighborhood cat, Oz Post and Amazon flex driver then any reputable branded card would do.

      • Wouldn’t high endurance also be good for temperature resistance in an outdoor camera, or am I making this up?

        • If you are in northern australia and it sits out in the sun all the time then probably.

In Melbourne probably not as much. Also depends on which direction you park your camera. Only you know that right.

I've had non high endurance in in door cameras and no problems.

  • Price matched at JB via their online chat. Took less than 5 mins to complete it all.

Binglee also has the 256G for $34 (with Cashrewards….)

Would this work for 4k on GoPro

  • If anyone is with commbank you can spend $75 or more to get $20 cashback which makes it down to $55 with extras if you spend exactly $75 [512gb] if you price match with JB

    • I have the ultimate Credit card and can only see $10 cash back for $50 spend

    • I have a CommBank rewards visa. You have to activate that deal first or any JB purchase works immediately? I rarely take advantage of my points but may as well get another 10 at least.

      • Sorry usually you have to activate it first and just use your card like normal. I havent used it much but that's how it worked for me!

        • I logged on to rewards but it doesn't have anything for JB HiFi that I could find.

  • +1

Thank OP, Bought 512 basically free using $70 store credit which due to expire next week :)

  • sad I missed out on the deal for the 512 pro plus the other month

    • How much was that going for?

      • All I could find was from Amazon AU 512GB mSD $69 delivered and that was the cheapest I could find for last month. Rest cost much more.

      • the pro plus is the next model up and was going for $10 more!
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/732445

        • was!.

        • I am using this for my phone S20 plus, is the card in this deal sufficient enough?

          • @bargainfinder: This is plenty. Go as big as you can afford. 512GB.

            • @xoom: Thanks. Just price matched at JB using combank cash back reward deal. So $59 for 512 gb. Going to take a lot of videos and photo of my new born son

              • @bargainfinder: Pro tip: delete dupes straight away

                • @andresampras: If the photos of kids taken by their parents that I have been shown are any indication. It will be lots of photos taken seconds apart.

                  • @xoom: Yeah and in each series there are always dupes and fuzzy pics and pics that capture exactly the same emotional response.

Delete them straight away, is my advice

                    • @andresampras:

pics that capture exactly the same emotional response.

                      Delete them straight away

Are you mad? They are not the same.

                      🤣

              • @bargainfinder: Also, congrats on the little one :)

Give a child a bargain, they’ll appreciate it for a day. Teach a child to catch bargains, they’ll thank you for a lifetime.

              • @bargainfinder: How did you activate that? I must be clueless because I didn't see anything, (but I was logged on the mobile site with my phone).

  • thanks! got one from Amazon - free delivery - saves me a trip to TGG :p

  • $8 for delivery is a bit much. Considering they can chuck it in an envelope and send it.

Edit: It is $5 for the 256gb to be delivered and $8 for the 512gb. Whats the deal with that..

    • $34 delivered for the 256gb at Bing Lee eBay if you have eBay Plus.

      • +1

*$29 if you still have your monthly $5 coupon handy

I price matched this last week at OW
Samsung MicroSD Card EVO Plus with Adapter 512GB
    Product Code: SMBMC512KA | Unit Price: $65.55

  • I just tried to get the 256Gb from GG and got the following message at checkout "Pre-Order product can be picked up in store after official launch date. You will receive an SMS notification when the order is ready for pick up".

  • is anyone having trouble claiming storecash with this offer? i can't seem to apply the code at checkout

    • +1

Didn't work around 4pm aest as website was dropping off intermittently. Checked out successfully with store credit an hour later (so it does work)

      • cheers!

  • Shit i just bought this for 78$ last week from the good guys too!! :(

  • do micro sd come in uhs2?

  • How reliable are these for storing important videos? Is it likely to be corrupted if removed?

    • unlikely. Upgrade to Endurance range is for better longevity with constant read/write like dash cams.

  • +1

I wonder how this card is compared to Sandisk extreme? I bought one from blcakcfriday sale and still has not open it, but going to need to expand my storage soon.

    • This is better it seems. equivalent to Sandisk Extreme Pro

  • Are good for security cameras?

  • I wonder if the viofo dashcams can take 512GB.

    • Recommend the Pro Endurance models for dashcams. They currently go up to 256gb, but are designed for continuous recording.

Samsung EVO Plus 512GB $59 from JB with price match and perks code.

  • +1

Assuming that the 512gb card will be good for Nintendo Switch? Going by the description it should be good but checking if anyone has used one in theirs.

    • +1

I bought it for same purpose. Officially supported Sandisk memory card for Nintendo Switch can only do 100 Mbps. This being 130 Mbps shouldn't go wrong with Switch.

Now need a good deal for Mario Kart 8 deluxe lol.. 😂

  • Price matched at JB online and their delivery dates were much sooner than Good Guys

  • Price matched at Harvey Norman. Cheers OP!

  • How is this compare to Sandisk U1 with App performance?

256GB for $43 delivered is a bloody good price
I took delivery of 2 x 128GB of these beauties for $26 delivered each from Kogan this week
They are still $26 for the 128GB with free delivery if anyone wants smaller storage size
But $43 for 256GB, man, I have to get me one of those
    Thanks OP

  • JB HiFi is no longer price matching these…

I managed to get them to price match the 512 yesterday but they sent me a dead link. So I tried again today with the 256 instead. They said nope but they agreed to the 512GB I had price matched the day before. Unfortunately, my local store has none in stock so I had to pay another 6 in shipping.

    • Still going. JB-HiFi has just price matched this 512Mb for me via Live Chat with no issues. Also used JB perks $10 and Commonwealth $10 rewards. Score!

      • 256 was the sweet spot for me though. 512 is overkill for my needs. I got sucked in though.

The CommBank rewards are only for the Mastercard right? I only have their awards visa which I used. Just applied for their Mastercard and should get 200 cash back so it's still a win I guess.

  • I bought the 521gb for $69 from jbhifi yesterday. They did price match with thegoodguys for me. I hope the $10 reward from commbank will go through as I used it for the first time ever.

  • These are normally $74 so it's not a real bargain

  • Placed the order as soon I saw this deal. Got a confirmation email. They’re now saying they don’t have stock. I specifically checked if the store had stock before placing the order. I don’t get point why take an order when you don’t have any stock. All I got is there’s nothing we can do you just have to wait until there’s stock.

  • SAMSUNG PRO Endurance New Portable SSD, 1TB, 256GB, Solid State Drive for Monitoring Devices, Long Lasting Performance, 2022 https://amzn.asia/d/fH8PduF

Can I used this for N. Switch or is it better to get a fit for purpose one? Also bought this for the car but tbh don't really need it for the dashcam..bought the 256gig

  • why is it every thegoodguys store is far away from the train station

    • Im sure you can get jbhifi to price match if thats more convenient.

      • I still have the $20 store credit from the Motorola phone deal
