      you got ripped off… should've been $39.50

      • Tried to get this at the price you posted, the sales guy at west lakes SA said he couldn't do better than $70 even after i showed him your post :(

        • Maybe do a search for stock online in your area, then target the closing down store, when they are getting close to actually closing it becomes 50% off.

    • Hi Mikinoz, any chance you could upload your receipt? I'm interested in getting this if I can get it for $40 like you did!

  • This is a great deal. Shame I bought a DCB293/79 a couple of months ago at 15% off… Could have saved $70.

  • Read a few reviews, it seems DCB293/79 is very well received overall..mn….tempted now….

  • does anyone who already has DCB293/79 know what would happen if u plug in android phone to the USB? would it work? either charge it and/or access the audio content on it?

EDIT: i'm thinking to get this and try use it like a dock lol - http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/High-Speed-USB-2-0-Micro-B-5-Pin-…

    • Why not just use AUX input via a simple 3.5mm cable? I assume that's what they called "MP3 Link" (below) on Philips' website?

The MP3 link connectivity allows direct playback of MP3 content from portable media players. Besides the benefit of enjoying your favorite music in the superior sound quality delivered by the audio system, the MP3 link is also extremely convenient as all you have to do is to plug your portable MP3 player to the audio system.

      • i think MP3 link is just a fancy way to say aux in?

if i had it docked means it could charge, could stand vertical and possibly use the buttons/remote to skips songs …that's if it works

        • Ya almost certain that MP3 Link just a fancy name for AUX in. I just ordered one and gonna pick it up soon. Will test it out and let people who are interested in to know..

  • just purchased one using a wish gift card, which is another 7% off bought from medibank lifestyle. Free delivery too!!

    dicksmith.com.au/product/AE2842/philips-dvd-micro-hifi-mcd183

cheapest $164 from ebay. Not sure if its good.

    • dvd….nah..

      but it looks classic

      • I am not gonna use it as dvd player :)
I will use USB and add Bluetooth music receiver :)

  • thanks op, picked up the MCD122 with free delivery. Downloaded the manual, looks like it plays back divx movies via usb, can connect ipod/phone/mp3 via 3.5mm male to male stereo cable via front mp3 link input and hook up the tv audio via aux in…all that combined with small dimensions perfectly fitted my needs, cheers.

I nearly bought one of these as I had just listened to one in store recently and found they had unusually good sound for under $200. Decided to go for a dearer model, but that seemed like a great buy!

  • can someone tell me which unit would be the best for using as tv speakers? currenty i dont have any kind of speaker system and was looking for something cheap.

also do i need a code for the free shipping?

    • i ended up getting the mcd183. Reviews online were quite positive for the sound. Also shipping was automaticaly free :-)

    • me too :)
