Spintel - CGNAT

Just moved from More to Spintel as part of their black Friday promo and once connected, they have CGNAT enabled (you won't be able to port forward things - for plex, game).

Very disappointing experience should I say, and when I need to have it removed, an additional $5/month is required

Is anyone else feel annoyed and deceived by this? there is nothing written in contract about this at all.

You get what you pay for unfortunately…

    • Yea, true; so much of them offering this promo to retain the customer, right?!

Once the promo is finished, I'll definitely find another provider

Most RSP's use CGNAT due to the lack of IP4 addresses. Some RSP's allow you to get a public IP4 address. Some you pay extra and some are free.

If Spintel do not have the option of getting an IP4 address then mode to another RSP that does.

Nothing deceiving about it. $49 for NBN100/20 is $5 cheaper than the 6 monthly promo for NBN50/20. They could be losing money running these kind of deals. Don't let greed get in your way. Just pay that $5 extra a month if you need it.

Just edit your host file if you use windows :) a quick google will be able to help you out on this. My NAS works fine etc (Aussie with CGNAT). That will solve the plex thing. not so sure about the others..

  • I'm guessing since CGNAT is such an issue for you that you enquired before switching right? right?

  • AussieBB has this enabled by default, but to get rid of it they will just ask for justification and they won't charge you anything. Was an annoying issue to run into (double NAT).

  • Damn everyone else for not researching things for you.
