  • I’m going to hold out till Hades 2. Hopefully, Epic offers the original for free then, which they do frequently when there’s a sequel.

If you haven’t played the first one I’d highly recommend grabbing it at this price - fantastic game.

    • +4

      Yeah, but it's epic.

Thanks, that's good to know. I just read this re Hades 2:
"Like its predecessor, Hades II will be available in Early Access for some time leading up to its full v1.0 launch. Expect more information on Hades II Early Access sometime in 2023." — https://www.supergiantgames.com/blog/hades2-announced/
Hopefully they are somewhat on time with their expected release dates etc (cough, blizzard, cough…)

It’s not a game you play for a little bit and then get into the second one if it’s connected

I’m talking hundreds of hours of play. I’m at 300 hours plus

It’s well worth the to price now .

        • That sounds tiresome tbh.

    • I mean if you are into the genre, $12 or 17 is already a steal

    • I have gotten 2 good years out of Hades, it's an incredibly addictive game. I think it is worth getting it at this price and getting some good time out of it.

    Excellent game

    Amazing game

  • Pretty sweet game

Is this good for someone who likes story based games? For some reason I can't get into roguelikes.

    • +8

The roguelike element is woven very well into the story, you try, try, try again and that makes sense in terms of the story as well.

There is a sense of progression and I feel like "I finished the game".

    • +1

It's got a decent story, but it's set up: story interactions, shoot'em up escape attempt, repeat. The are a few story interactions in the escape attempt as well.

    • +2

      I'd say yes.
It may be a roguelike, but there is a truly insane amount of dialogue sprinkled through the game. There are story arcs that slowly unfold over the course of dozens of playthroughs, and you almost certainly won't uncover all the possibilities in the game.

has Epic adjusted the price? going through the Epic PC launcher I see $17.97 also

    • +1

I use an US account for epic and see $12.49 (50% off) so this maybe the reason?

    wat about xbox

    • It was 33% off during Black Friday week but has never been lower than that. I would hope that the next time it comes around it'll be 50%, but then it's only 33% off on a Playstation sale that just started, so who knows.

A little disappointing for me too as while I'm primarily a PC player, I'd like to have the option to play it on Xbox too, and if I buy it on the Microsoft Store I'd be able to do that with one purchase, as it's a Play Anywhere title.

      • I played it a lot when it was on the Pass, but now it's gone, and occasionally want to play again. great game

    • Hey shabaka, jbhifi has the xbox game for $19:
      https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/xbox-series-x-hades?query…
or part of the 2 for $30 deal, in-store only apparently

      • thanks a lot!

  • Is this like an adventure game where you go around collecting spells, weapons and armour etc. It doesn't look like a 1st person shooter type game

    • nevermind.. Roguelike (or rogue-like) is a subgenre of role-playing computer games traditionally characterized by a dungeon crawl through procedurally generated levels.
What is roguelike in gaming? Noun. roguelike (plural roguelikes) (video games) Any of a genre of computer role playing games loosely characterized by various characteristics such as randomised environment generation, permadeath, turn-based movement, text-based or primitive tile-based graphics and hack-and-slash gameplay.
