FFalcon 43UF3 43" 4K UHD Android TV (2021) $314.10 + Delivery ($0 C&C) @ JB Hi-Fi

Not a bad price for this 43" 4K TV from FFalcon (TCL) if you're after something on a budget with the coupon code. I picked one up months ago for the shed and for the price I think the quality and performance is good. You may need a soundbar, but I think it sounds fine. Android TV performs well once you let it update all the apps after first setup.

  • how many seconds to turn on ?

    • One Mississippi, two Mississippi, three Mississippi… oh stuff it, I'm going to the can.

What goes on in the shed?

        • +1

What goes on in the shed stays in the shed.

          Bunga bunga parties

Nah it's where the home brewing and 3d printing action happens. Maybe a bit of OzBargain Live on the 43" ;)

      • Is the brightness decent?

  • FFFork yeah!

FFS! I got excited, being a TCL product and all….BUT… I see it only has a 1 year warranty like most mainstream shitboxes. TCL's 3 year warranty was always a major attraction to me after being burnt by somesang name's 1 year warranty and crap customer service. I swore never to buy another TV without a 3 year warranty…. so that strikes this one off my ozbargain christmas buying.
A medium arse TV now only weighs 6 Kg…. sheesh!

    • +1

I know two folks with TCL TVs both failed within a year.

Dunno many might last longer but I ain't trusting it.

    • 6kg? Well, yes. In 2022 a 43" TV is considered a portable. Kind of like a 14" CRT was, back in time.

Each to their own… I've had 6 since 2014. The 65" I bought in 2016 started having picture problems a few months ago, so I replaced it. That's the only one that's failed.
IE I have 5 still operating TCL tvs, bought in 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2022. I compare that to the somesang with a 1 year warranty that crapped itself a few days after the warranty expired.
Not my mate's, not my mate's nephew's brother in law… but my first hand experience.
And if you know folks that had fails, I presume under the 3 year warranty they were replaced?
My only relationship with TCL or any appliance seller is that I'm a repeat customer.

  • Good for a virtual pinball playfield if it can do 60hz

    • Looks to be only 50Hz

  • How will it be if using as monitor for WFH?

    • +2

I'd get a monitor not a TV. The scaling would be very weird for text.

  • I'm sitting reading off a 75" TCL "monitor" which is not very weird for text… it's perfect.

    • I heard the key spec needed is Chroma 4:4:4 for that to be the case, not sure if yours has it but I don't think this one does.
