      This saying holds true for heaps of things though. Google is free to use because they sell your data/ads, Facebook too. TV is free and then channels market viewer numbers to prospective advertisers. Even Ozbargain is free and runs ads, with user numbers being the marketable product to clients.

    Its a watch face, normally id say you are being paranoid. But it asks for full network access, so maybe you are on to something.
