I overlooked that one, it is a good addition to the gadget drawer. Thanks.

The other bargains today from Merit were a little disappointing.

    Great tags!

      :( mod removed it….

    • What were the tags?

  • Will people ask what to use the Toothpaste thing for? And say that they don't need to spend 79c to squeeze a toothpaste tube?

Well, the idea of the thing is to STORE the toothpaste neatly, not to squish it (which it does do, by the way).

The roller thing means that you don't have a flaccid limp wobbly droopy thing in your bathroom. Once you squeeze them a bit, they never really stand up properly after that.

    • … Are they supposed to stand up?

means that you don't have a flaccid limp wobbly droopy thing in your bathroom

yeah well it's winter so that's going to happen regardless…

    • +1

True - plus, as time goes on… the smaller it gets!

      • +2

There's an easy way to avoid the problem — squeeze the tube from the bottom when you start using it, not at the middle. Failling that just use a pair of scissors to get the remaining dregs out.

          Ouch!

        • Reading your comment after reading frag's and lama's comment is definitely going to result in nightmares. Thanks a lot :(

        • Jeez Scrimshaw I really hope you just read their comments wrong and aren't actually implying what I think you are!

People need help to squeeze toothpaste out of a tube?
Haven't we all been doing this since we were 2 years old?

    • +3

I've been wondering the same here. Rather perplexing. What's even stranger is the fact I've just ordered one… o_0

    • There are two types of people in this this world, people who squeeze from the bottom and make it easy for everyone else and those who squeeze it from the middle because it's easier for them and they don't care about anyone else.

      • +1

        Folders and Scrunchers.

      • Meh, I squeeze from the middle but I share my toothpaste with no one.

    • No - this is NOT needed for squeezing. It is so that your squeezed tube remains NEAT.

Even if you squeeze from the bottom, you still have a squeezed tube. It won't stand up in a cup, and it looks all flat and yukky :-)

  • Cool, I just purchased 495 of them ;-)

Every OzBargainer should have one as a cult object. :)

  • For most types of toothpaste, there is a simple way to get the toothpaste out easily.
    - Store the toothpaste tube with the cap at the bottom, perhaps in a cup to keep it upright.
    - Keep the cap at the bottom when you are using the toothpaste.
    - Every time the tube starts to look a bit squished, squeeze the sides of the tube to suck some air into the tube, and cap it again. This keeps the tube looking full, even though it isn't.
    - Don't forget to cap the toothpaste properly, it WILL flow out of the tube if you don't.

Toothpaste is a fluid, so it will flow down towards the cap. You probably do the same thing with shampoo bottles, storing them upside-down when they are nearly empty. As long as you keep the cap facing downwards, the toothpaste will be available.

When you get to the last little bit of toothpaste, as you squeeze it out there will be a little "phut" noise, and then you know you have used 99% of the available toothpaste. You can also tell that the tube is nearly empty from its weight - it gets quite light.

I haven't tested this with gel toothpastes, but it definitely works with all white toothpastes I have tried.

    • or you can just use the end of your toothbrush to run it along the tube like a rolling pin?

      • Or roll it and store it neatly in your Mertline toothpaste rolling gadget.

Come on… you KNOW you want to move to the [insert random colour here] side. Buy it! Buy it!

    • What if one wants to use all 100% of their toothpaste, not 99% as you quoted Russ. After all, we're OZBargainers!

  • just buy one so i can hang my toothpaste in the shower

    • Yep, that's the idea - use it for what it's actually intended for. To STORE your toothpaste.

Ours is stuck to the mirrored door of the bathroom cabinet. My son hangs it up each time, so it works great.

  • Finally got one!

  • Cheers got one, thanks op!

  • No stock for me.

  • For those that missed the cheap monocular 'scope, you can probably pickup a sharper one for sub $10. I ordered & can confirm this one - Coated Z-Monocular 10x21 from Dealextreme comes to $9.14 shown on my Visa debit bankcard.

Contributor at birdforum.net compared the nikula above to his vintage "Zeiss Jena 8x21 1Q 'Turmon' monocular" only to find surprise in finding both gave out similar quality/ w/ decent optics.

FWIW, +if you wanted something more powerful eg. 16x40 nikula w/ Bak4 Roof Prism system,
    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/290736208374?ssPageName=STRK:MEWA…

^^They look not too bad going via eBay for an extra $10. I'm considering getting that scope (for more light).

  • 79c! they've gone up!
