Add a $100 item and use code SNSDEC for a better discount

    • +9

This bundle and 2 extra controllers for $942 is actually a decent deal with that code

      • Yep, considering i paid like $908 for one controller with this bundle

      • how are you getting $942?

        • +1

never mind I looked in the wrong place for the controllers

  • +9

Seems like there's no shortage of PS5 anymore

    • +2

Yet they have to bundle games to clear stock

      • +5

The reason behind that is to discourage scalping. The non-bundled ones do in fact still sell out on Amazon etc. Bundles not so much.

        • +7

Why do people keep saying this when the consoles ARE in stock, they bundle the games to force people to buy a game as well and increase unit sales for said game. They aren't doing this because of scalping because every single console generation has had pack in games and it is normal.

          • -2

@Mooncakes: Bundling a game doesn't "force" sales. No one looks at mario kart 8 bundles and proclaims "forced" sales.

It's for a particular segment of the market that may appreciate the simplicity of the game in the box.

Some are gamers that were gonna buy the game any way. Some are parents/non gamers that will gift the console and do not care to know about all the options and savings they could have. They see the console, they see the games their child has been harping on about. They buy it.

The notion that Sony could force anyone to buy something they don't want is asinine.

            • +7

@E4xtream: It does force sales, they for a few months made the only way to get the console was with a bundle, AKA forced God of War and Horizon on everyone, they limited the non bundled consoles to push the ones with the game for extra $$$. I wouldn't say it's a forced sale if the sale price was the same price as non bundled but that isn't the case you are paying for the game + the console.

What a weird hill to die on, I'm not saying Sony forced you to drive to the store pull out your card and purchased the console, I'm saying they limited choice by taking away console only boxes and put in game bundled boxes and that was the ONLY choice to get the PS5 for a while until they started putting more non bundled choices back on the shelves.

              • @Mooncakes: Launching bundles, regardless of general stock availability is a strategy as old as the games industry itself. They don't sell those bundles because of some nefarious desire to force a product consumers don't want. They sell them precisely because customers do want them. You've never seen a bundle with Destruction All Stars or Concrete Genie.

            • +1

@E4xtream: I agree. It’s not like you can’t buy console only. Particular with other brands and previous generations, you’re right.

    • +2

Standalone Disc Version is still selling fast but not OOS instantly. Bundled ones are hard to move now.

    • +2

Plenty everywhere. They've made it easy for Xmas shopping.

We might even see discounts next year.

    • Hasn't been a shortage for months.

    • Which means prices should come down

  • +3

    Shame it not an LE

  • Awesome

  • +9

Amazon have the non-bundled disk console in stock for $799 delivered.

    • +6

Better deal imo as the Ragnarok is a download code. Meaning it can't be re sold.

    • +3

JB have all three versions (digital, disc and Ragnorak) available on their website if you can find local stock. Stack with 10% off gift cards at Woolies, and it’ll be cheaper than buying from Big W eBay

    • Bigw have then instore as well for pickup, the website stupidly just says "coming soon". Was just in at my local and they said they had plenty of them in stock.

  • +3

I just bought unbundled at EB Games for $720 using (now expired) 10% off ultimate gift cards at Woolies, would keep an eye out for the next gift card promo

    • +4

While not 10%, you can currently get 7.5% off eb gift cards through here so $739. Still a good deal. I got mine for $666 prior to the price hike when the RRP was $749 using 11% discounted gift cards.

      • +1

        Are those guys instant?

      • The 15% coles deal would have achieved close to that. Anyone with a PS4 should be selling now, I reckon resale will collapse after xmas

  • -3

    PS5 deals are not popular

    u wot

  • +6

Waiting for the disc console to be lower. I don't need game bundles under $700 is where it should be

    • -1

Good to see others on the same page. I definately think currently price is jacked, retailers/Sony still riding the covid pandemic and demand levels and chip shortage etc

    • Yep, still too expensive for a digital game.

    • This console beats a $1500 PC setup easily though 🤔

  • now we're cooking with gas

    • Gas is going up up and up….PS5 should come down in price not like utility bills

  • +3

if only they had the god of war controller :D

  • -4

    used to be $12

  • +2

The 5 disc console sounds amazing. No need to keep swapping discs out.

    • +17

      Username doesn't check out

      • +3

Hey, not fair! Tough crowd tonight. Sitting at a nett minus 2 votes :-(

        • This is not world cup…. And nothing is fair on ozbargain

    • +1

Thats the way I read it at first too

  • wait why is this so upvoted, this is very similar to many other deals that have been crucified

    • +4

      it's a 5 disc console

      • is the game worth the 60 bucks tho?

        • about 90 on sale atm i believe.

  • when is the ps5 slim coming out and in black? too big for the tv unit.

    • +2

there are rumours about a modular PS5 by end of 2023:
      https://www.notebookcheck.net/Sony-to-replace-PlayStation-5-…

      • Having an external drive doesn’t sound awfully appealing to me. No doubt it makes manufacturing and distribution simpler but.

        • -1

Agreed, but a smaller, less awkward PS5 does - so I'll wait and see. Between lack of stock, Jim Ryan's price hike and now the prospect of a PS5 that fits into normal spaces coming next year… at this rate I'll end up getting one at the end of the generation.

  • -1

Good to see stock available again. Having two sons with this thing - it's virtually impossible to have multiple games installed at the same time unless you purchase an external hard drive or expand the current hard drive. The new nba game is 142 GB. We are constantly deleting and reinstalling games. How i miss the old days where you could just plug in a cartridge.

    • They should have done it like the apple :)

      850GB, 1700GB …

  • -1

    $749

    • Where?

      • In their dreams…

  • -2

How come those screaming “RRP is not a deal” freakshows stopped commenting in these posts? LoL

    • +1

      Because this isn't RRP.

    • +1

      RRP is $904

  • -1

How can this playstation fit 5 discs, does it have cd stacker

  • How does God of war compare to the Horizon pack?

    • +1

Seen more people saying how good the ragnarok game is compared to horizon

  • Noone bought this one and replace it with https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/748202
