Christmas Gift for Postie

Nearly all my packages are delivered by Australia Post on a rural run. I think you buy/tender for the run.

Is she running a business and gets paid per parcel or is she doing a job and just gets a flat rate? If the latter, I think I should give her a $20 gift card for Christmas because she always takes care of my stuff.

Anyone know how they operate or wish to share their approach?

She would probably make less if she does own the business..

    Cash or a small gift.

I think we've seen enough gift card horror stories for one year.

  • Is her name Bev by any chance?

    • She could very well be a Bev. Our town already has a Pat, Beryl and Judy. A few Karens and Madonna/Donnas as well.

Plot twist, OP has the hots for the postie?

    • See above. Bevs, Beryls and Judies don't really move me.

  • yes. i prepare gifts for Aus Post employees, Aus Post sub-contractors, TOLL Express, Toll Standard, Courier Please, Aramex.

    No for Flex drivers.

How would they get the gift if they never turn up?

Looks like a lobster in the letterbox has support.

Box of Cadbury Favourites and a pineapple ($50) folded in the top flap.

    • Lobster maybe, not a pineapple.

  • Thoughts on beers for postie? Young fella is my regular postie.

    • A regular postie will be on a bike or scooter, will he have room/capacity for a 6 pack?

      • Sorry I mean my guy who drives a van and deliveres all my amazon boxes :)

      • Plenty of room for them to fit.

    • Always

Whilst australia post employees are not allowed to receive gifts is its against company policy as aus post is a government entity, it is very common to find beers, chocolates etc left out or inside letter boxes for the postie.

    • The policy may be along the lines of not allowed to accept unless the gift is of low or token value. Eg teachers in public system are not supposed to accept gifts over $50 value.
