  • What are people's experiences with the delivery times from Amazon UK to Australia.

    • Just had a phone case arrive that took about 2 weeks (maybe a tad less)

Edit: it was scheduled to arrive 28th December

    • Almost always quicker than advertised. 10-15 days?

    • Ordered Fifth element 4k from UK 14/12 and arrived yesterday, so 8 days.

      • Thats the different version of the movie we get here? I absolutely love that movie so was wondering if it's a better quality copy of it.

        • +1

You can't get the local version of Fifth Element 4K. It is exclusive to JB HiFi and and has been out of stock for some time. They may do another print run, or they may not. Who knows.

I waited and waited and waited and waited and ended up buying the Amazon UK version.

Edit: My point is that given you can't buy a local copy it might not be relevant whether this version is better or not.

          • +1

@ChiefAJ: How are the versions different?

            • +1

@MisterTee: From memory we got the Sony version. The Studiocanal version has a higher bitrate, but the Sony version has the extras.

  • Thanks OP

  • Great deal, thanks OP

      TLoR still exists.

      • -4

oooooo it is excellent but I feel like The Hobbit Trilogy has tainted it a little.

        • +1

Given you can just not watch The Hobbit trilogy, why would it possibly make TLoR worse? That makes exactly zero sense.

    • +1

Certainly up there as far as I am concerned. Competing against Back To The Future; The Godfather; The Original Star Wars trilogy; Indiana Jones - yes only the first 3 movies and for me Men in Black hehe. I'm sure others will include Lord of the Rings,The Hobbit and some others

  • MAD DEAL

Cinematic Experience through and through. Christopher Nolan, I say no more.

  • The trilogy we needed. Just not the one we deserve.

So much better than the emo-woke-blm-pc junk 2022 Batman.

    • +3

How was 2022 Batman woke or BLM? I swear, you people will find reasons to get angry about anything.

      • +1

I'm really struggling to see anything even slightly woke in The Batman… maybe he wasn't able to sympathise with any of the characters except the terrorists at the end, and is mad that they lost?

I don't think they were explicitly right wing, but I guess they could have kind of been inspired by modern online neo nazi types…?

There are a small minority of OzBargainers who whinge about anything to the left of that as "woke".

        • -2

I am far from anything right of center, but that doesn't mean I'm to stupid to see lip service rhetoric when I see it aka batman 2022.

It's clearly token diversity, but even though you know this too, you'll never admit it in fear of being labelled a racist.

          • +3

@Grish: If you have an issue about the race of the actors, then there's no other way to put it, but you're racist.

            • +1

@NoApostrophePlurals: Technically correct = best kind of correct

            • -1

@NoApostrophePlurals: I don't have an issue with the race of the actors (phew, guess I'm not racist!)

I have an issue with token diversity (pre-defined ratios et al instead of merit), as already mentioned.

No need to try and twist my words around just because you fail to understand the underlying problem.

              • +1

@Grish: It might shock you to know that the world itself is diverse. You yourself feel that movies need to have your own acceptable pre-defined maximum number of coloured actors.

You speak of merit, but don't have an issue of each actors ability. Why does their skin colour or ethnic background matter?

You're choosing to see a problem when there isn't one. You can keep painting yourself as not racist, but that's the problem with most people in your exact situation, they choose to define their own racist views as non-racist.

                • -1

@NoApostrophePlurals: Another way to explain it to you is; Sweden attempted this in real life, they employed exactly 50:50 female:male at all professions (yes, including 50% male nurses, and 50% female engineers)..

Let's see if you can guess the productivity results.. higher?, or much much lower?

I bet if you ran your own business, you would (secretly) want the better man for the job, because you know that you would otherwise be losing money, which goes against the very (likely) reason you are running a business in the first place.

So, this movie is a failure because it fell for that equality trap, forcing sub-par productivity (performances, on screen dynamics, etc.)

                  • +2

@Grish: You being racist and also showing you are sexist are two separate things, sadly.

I again ask you, how does skin colour or ethnicity affect ones ability to act?

While we're at it, may as well see if you're homophobic.

                    • @NoApostrophePlurals: Who ever said skin colour affects acting ability?

It doesn't. What does impact casting though, is selecting the actors based off skin colour instead of talent/ability/merit etc.

Heck, they probably didn't even need auditions, I would bet my house they already had skin colour placeholders jotted down for each role.

That is what I call racism.
