  • This is actually a good deal compared to prices on eBay and Amazon.

  • Thanks op, keep buying knives so my missus will hopefully like this!

  • Is this just the stand or a knife set ?

    • Just the stand.

  • Thanks op
    Bought
    Click and collect.

Can the stand be removed to fold it down?

      • +2

        Nah, it’s permanent

  • Great deal, thanks OP!

Bought one with ShopBack 20% cashback, seems like an interesting stand so worth a try. thanks

    • Damn, I was checking out and thought should I check for a cashback, and thought I'd miss out if I hesitated so just went ahead… Could've saved $4

    • +6

Can be bought via ebay myer store for free shipping (not sure if only for ebay plus members) and may stack with the $5 ebay shopback challenge

Was showing 27 available via ebay app but only 12 via mobile website weirdly

    • How did you got 20%? I can only see 8%

      • +1

That upsize from this deal is already expired

        • ahha .. that's why! Thank you!

  • cant find any in SA :(

Love/hate relationship. How do you keep flies off them?

    • +8

      Keep them clean???

      • -2

You think flies don't land on clean things? lol

        • +11

The same way you keep flies off the rest of the things in your house

          • +2

@illusion99: I keep them in drawers, containers or under mesh food covers. No point doing that with an open knife block. I'm not concerned about most things but food prep utensils…

          • @illusion99: Like, put things in a drawer.

        • +1

Flies can potentially land on almost anything, but I am not sure why you're concerned that one MAY land on your knife blade.
They're far more likely to land on your food or you, than on a clean piece of steel.

If you're that concerned about flies and the germs they carry, I'd hazard a guess that you wipe mose food preparation items prior to using them anyway.

      Keep flies out of house?

    • +12

That will keep the flies off

The upright with perspex cover looks good. Takes up less bench space. Might provide some dust protection.
These can leave bits of plastic on your knives and most likely your food also.

      • Thanks, seems like some issue with block also, my problem with magnetic stand is I always imagine someone would use one of knife to kill me…

        • +7

I think you might have more pressing issues if you live with someone(s) who are likely to want to kill you

    • +1

Knife blocks are harsher on quality knives and cause mould.

The bigger issue is the space in the bloody kitchen. Where's OzBargain deals for houses?

  • +1
    • Something I don't like about these is that you have to screw and damage the wall to put these in. It's nice aesthetic and I really wanted to get one, but it's just not feasible when renting an apartment. I wish there were some alternative to magnetic walk racks without screws.

      • +2

Maybe find one with double sided tape?
3M VHB tape is pretty damn strong and if it can hold a spoiler onto the back of my car doing 110km/h I'm sure it can hold a knife mount if you use a sufficient quantity.

        • +1

If someone doesn't want to damage the walls of their rented apartment, I really don't think VHB tape is the answer.

        • I've not had any luck with trying to use double sided tape either. I tried some 'really strong' stuff at my last place, and even with letting it cure for a while, it still only stayed on the wall a day or two.

Tried using the heavy duty command strips at my current place, but they didn't even hold just the rack for more than about an hour. I'm just glad I hadn't put any knives on there at that point. The current tiles just don't seem to like stuff sticking to it.

      • I bought this and I’m going to try Velcro(branded) heavy duty stick on tape; rated at 7kg per 50x100mm strip

      Probably not fly-proof either

  • might be sold out already, they shipped my order except this.

  • dan, got it in black friday for 50%. Good one tho!

  • These take up too much precious bench space, better to use a wall magnet for $18 (was $60)

  • They have cancelled my order !

    • I haven't received any cancellation for my ebay order yet. Would be somewhat surprised if they ship my order given your order was via the myer website directly.

    • Still no response yet re my order.
Will probably get cancelled as well.

      • +1

Maybe they oversold it, I called them before they initially told me it’s on back order and will be shipped out within 2 weeks but then next day they cancelled my order without reason

    • *update: surprisingly received a shipping confirmation on my ebay order just then… wonder if they have stock reserved specifically for their ebay store or they managed to get more stock.
