Need Help Finding a Touchscreen Laptop for an Older Family Member (Budget $850)

My Senior family member is in need of a new laptop, preferably touchscreen and over 15" screen size, she simply uses it to check her emails, and store a few files so don't need anything too powerful, just looking for something that will be simple to use and large enough for her to see well on it.

Good luck, have you found anything for that budget, touchscreen and over 15" for $850 ?

    • Surface Pro 4?

      • 12.3”

        • Ah mb

          • @MuddyRubber: Usually smaller the laptop, expensive they are except when its comes to touch screen.

IMO, touch screen windows PCs are useless unless you into graphic design. If you into touch screen, get a tablet.

Where did they last see / have it?

Have they used touchscreen in the past? Often find the oldies are great at touch on a tablet but on a laptop gets largely forgotten because there is a mouse and keyboard, plus the screen angle is not as intuitive.

Would they consider a tablet if its only for email.and browsing?

    • Browsing on a tablet is awful in my experience. Even on an iPad.

      • Probably because it's made for humans, not lizards

  • Searched for '15 touchscreen laptop' on G and got a variety of options under and over your budget.
Be aware this does not include productivity software like Office which costs extra $.
There are other software options or maybe they use it online.
    How do they check email?

  • In used/refurbished world you should be able to get some good machines. As their use is going to be limited to email and browsing, you should be easily able to get something within your budget. Maybe look for something which can be used as a laptop or a tablet, or maybe a lighter machine to carry around like Lenovo X1 carbon range. My main laptop is Lenovo X1 Carbon Gen6. It is four years old. Still works without any issues. I do more than merely browsing and emails.
