eufy Security Outdoor Cam Pro 2K with 32GB SD Card $149 + Shipping ($0 C&C) @ JB Hi-Fi

221

Yes eufy is naughty. Naughty eufy. But for $149 for a stand-alone IP camera that can record 24/7 and can work off of solar + a battery at 5V it’s not terrible.

You do NOT need a home base for this camera.

You can get a romoss battery for $21 + shipping and it should last a day without any sun.

Make sure not to walk around naked in front of camera

Don't tell me how to live my life

If we all do naked Yoga everyday (a nice downward dog butthole) they might think again about taking the footage.

+1 vote for the deal just for the description.
OP just gave me ideas how to start my Onlyfans career.

  • Where did you get the info that this can run 24/7? and how can you set it on the app?

    • I own one. Turn on continuous recording. Security camera without 24/7 are toys. You can get a 256gb sd card for $30.

    • Should be obvious by the picture showing the cable, but this requires external power, it doesn't have it's own battery like many other Eufys. This would work more like Wyze that can record continuously to SD card. Wyze is about 1/3 the price for 1080p with 2K model about $100

      • smart AI detection on wyze needs a cloud subscription. That’s the same for smart notifications. This doesn’t.

It’s like $1.99 usd a month or something.

I don’t have hands on experience with the Wyze app. I don’t know if it allows you to scrub footage easily of 24/7. Eufy does. As does ubiquiti.

        • +1

That's true! only non AI motion detection available after 2 weeks free trial of AI, yep that's scammy, But I have a problem with the eufy AI detection telling me "SOMEONE HAS BEEN SPOTTED!" , and it's detected both cats and toads and birds as humans (not joking) . Wyze AI is not very good either, seeing vehicles when a tree moves

          • @bobvegas: I’d like to try a wyze camera one day to see it but so far only tried Reolink (garbage), Eufy (better, but had hardware issues with noise) and Ubiquiti (by far the best)

Just checked the wyze. Seems to get 24/7 you really do need cam plus which is $1.99 a month. If you only own the camera for 1-2 years. Maybe it makes sense. But the outdoor eufy camera is 24/7 without a fee.

            • @checkingthisout: NearCam is probably another best one with AI detection. I use some and they're great.

  • What's the cable for, does it plug into a GPO?

It comes with a 5v usb charger. Like an iPhone charger. You can charge it off anything that does 5V. Uses up to 1A but mostly in the day around 0.2-0.2A

The IR lights are the power draw at 0.8-1A

      • can work off of solar + a battery at 5V it’s not terrible.

need recommendation for solar and battery

        • Romoss battery + whatever you want. 10W+ is best. The romoss will take 5-12V fast charging depending the model.

Right now $29 delivered for some 20,000mah models. Which will last about 1 day without sun.

          Or a car battery 12V with a 12V solar panel/controller also works.

    Warnings

I don't think its a good time to buy Eufy products since they got exposed for uploading clips/video to the cloud without people consent even from locally storage.

Eufy known for their local storage and uploading to the cloud is massive breach since its accessible on unencrypted streams.

Wyze also had some security issue.

    • +2

Oh look, another bandwagoner who probably doesn't own any Eufy gear. Given most CCTV setups point outwards, I fail to see the issue with any content - let alone a few measly thumbnails - being shared?

    • No clips, no video. Thumbnails included in the notifications. Nothing to see here

  • Can it record to home base? Or apple cloud?
I’m worried they can just remove the camera which removes all the recordings with it
    Any clues appreciated

    • You could probably copy the recordings to an nvr or something but that's more money spent

    • Your recordings are saved in the SD card in MP4 format. There won’t be an issue retrieving them.

You can definitely run scrypted.app with a Apple 4K tv box and have Home kit secure video for free. Detections only in 2K. That’s 14 days for free.

Or you can use some community made tools that run on your PC to upload detections to google cloud, S3 etc

As for recording to the cloud 24/7 only scrypted NVR will do that. Or as someone else said a different NVR such as synology. But that’s getting into the pricey range. Just buy a ubiquiti setup if you do that.

    • Homebase 3 will be able to record with this camera March 2023

  • Anyone comment if the 2k pro is worth the extra dosh?

Sca recently had it for $179 iirc….

Still considering replacing some old xiaomi cameras with these.

2K is not as important as the MP and sensor upgrade. The 2K pro just uses a newer sensor which all the Chinese cameras are all using now. It will be a noticeable upgrade to the 2C cameras when zoomed in. And definitely to a xiaomi camera which I believe are 1080p?

The biggest notice with wired will be the FPS difference and absolutely you’ll notice the notifications and AI pickup as these cameras are wired and the neural net on the SOC is always “on”.

As for the 2K pro. That is a battery camera. Just useless. This outdoor pro runs rings around it as those cameras have a 5-15 second startup time depending the heat.

      • Nice, thanks for that mate. Yeah seems to be the go then.

As for the xiaomi cameras yeah anything will be better I think they’re about. 4 years old now

Hoping what they say about hb3 compatibility will be true as I’m just waiting for a deal on the doorbell too

        • Yeah definitely the bombast 3 is coming because eufy really put their foot in their mouth by having rich notifications touch the cloud servers. Homebase 3 should eliminate that and be camera -> homebase 3 -> you. Essentially they’re putting the cloud compute into the home base. Which makes sense as eufy really screwed their brand off of privacy.

  • Will this work with only 10w solar panel or I need powerbank as well?
