    How low will this go?

    • +1

No one knows. However, it appears that Amazon is adjusting the discounted price daily for the time being. From past experience, the price could fluctuate a bit (depending on the strength of the currency) until the special promotion ends. Also, Amazon can also raise and lower the price a few times a day.

Unless you really need PCIe gen 4 x4 flagship class 4TB and you don't mind the price, $/GB wise, it isn't that great (because the 2TB one is cheaper). Furthermore, due to current controller limitation and NAND limitation, PCIe gen 4 x4 SSDs are generally optimised for 2TB (SSD makers cannot boost the sustained write on 4TB due to 8 channels and the current multi-layer TLC NAND limitations). PCIe gen 5 controller (at least the first gen Phison E26) won't be able to solve that either (due to not being a 16 channels and new high level multi-layer NANDs not yet available).

However, if you must get a 4TB NVMe SSD for your PS5 right now, then I guess there isn't another attractive offer available. PCIe gen 3 x4 4TB deals don't count since PS5 requires a PCIe gen 4 x4 SSD.

OP, I suggest you just be forefront and clear about this deal.

The title should include the bookmark (because without buying the bookmark, you won't get that extra discount). So, if either the bookmark or the SSD is out of stock, this deal ceased to be valid.

By relying on the description (i.e. people must read the description to understand the actual deal), you risk people thinking the deal has expired.

    • Thanks for the suggestion, title updated

  • Does Amazon ever offer to refund the difference when the price drops the after you order?

I'm trying to decide if I should HODL or just get a new system drive.

    • Not anymore. If you cannot cancel the order, then the only way is to return the item to get a full refund and purchase it at the new price.

  • I am still trying to figure out if this is single sided or not. There's conflicting reports online

    • Need to hit the Japanese reviews for that kind of detail - https://jisakuhibi.jp/review/wd_black-sn850x-nvme-ssd-4tb

      It's double sided

As mentioned earlier, if we flip the SSD over, we can see that this 2TB SSD is single-sided (i.e just a bare board on the back). The WD Black SN850X 4TB model IS double-sided, arriving with 4x 1TB NAND modules and an additional DDR4 Memory module, but this 2TB does an excellent job of keeping things nice and compact, whilst allowing much more direct, manageable and efficient heat dissipation.

That's probably why we are not seeing a 4TB version with a heatsink yet. My guess is WD designed the heatsink for single sided SSD so far.

  • Shopback will give you $25 back ($20 westpac plus $5 challenge) since its in the computers category

    • There are catches here. Notably 'Link your eligible Westpac debit or credit card to your ShopBack account'.

  • Ended up getting one, will fit inside my Lenovo 7 Pro X (has space on the other side for the memory modules on the NVME)

Use it for photography, 2tb was just barely enough.

    • me too…time to replace the "old" 2TB sn850.. lol

      • That's the drive currently in my Pro X, fancy that

  • It's now $600.78

  • Works perfectly in the 7 pro x, very fast.

    Doesn't run too hot either
