Scuffham S-Gear 3.0 Guitar Amp Modeller US$99 (~A$148) - Was US$129 @ Scuffham Amps

60

This is guitar amp modelling software: you connect your guitar to an audio interface connected to your PC/MAC and run the software, then rock out. Scuffham S-Gear is one of the best guitar amp modellers alongside Neural DSP.

Demo video here: https://youtu.be/NWQd13VIavw

The presets are excellent and can really bring the best out of any guitar you have. Great for home setups where you can't crank a boutique amp any higher than volume 1 or 2, let alone hitting the glorious highs of 11.

Includes 5 amps, 3 effects racks and now in V3.0, a drive pedal.

S-Gear is a collection of guitar amps, speaker cabinets and effects implemented in software for use with your computer, Windows PC or MAC. The software comes as a Standalone Application and as plug-ins for use with the most popular DAW (digital audio workstation) recording software.

  • Interesting - worth getting if already have some Neural DSP plugins already OP?

    • For me it’s a huge yes but I guess everyone has their own preferences. They do a free trial download.

      Studio Rats demo here: https://youtu.be/NWQd13VIavw

I own Neural DSP Petrucci and Tone King plug-ins I but I’m really impressed with SGear. Luckily it’s on special so I bought it.

Lots of SGear presets sound sensational, like you really are in the room with a fantastic amp.

I think Scuffham only do one or two specials a year. It is all created by one bloke who used to work for Marshall amps.

      • Thanks, I'll look into it some more. Cheers for the deal post

Actually anny decent tube amp will get the bbest out of your guitar,,,,,,, most good guitarists know that tubbee is only way to go this will sound good for metal but for blues this ac15 here i have is way better etc, as foir metal my dual rec will blow this out of the water as well

    • Have you tried S-Gear modelling software?

      • No i can tonight if you like? Have you tried the mesa Dual rec through a quad of 90 watt black shadows?

        • +1

Not that specific setup, but I’ve used other tube amps.

The modellers I’ve tried before were not my thing, I didn’t like the sound. They’ve come a long way now so it’s worth using a free trial.

          • @MonocleMoose: Trust me you should give more tube amps a go if you have the time to experiment at shops or at friends. I agree with you modelling will always get better,,,,,,,,, but its hard to emulate thes used and worn in 40 years old cab ive got lol

      • if you live near windsor i may be able to assist in the amp trial

      • i have tried neural and bias etc i enjoy the abaility to plug in whenmixing butprefer tubes

        • +1

Agree. The modellers are not replacements for real driven tubes in all situations, but great to use at home jamming or mixing and it’s cheaper.

I’m pretty impressed that modellers are not shit anymore.

The Windsor area means you probably have the space to crank up your Mesa quad setup. My neighbours would murder me here in the higher density area.

    • The 1960s has entered the chat

  • What kind of cable do I need for something like this? I've been toying with the idea of playing around with some guitar sortware

    • +2

Guitar cable>audio interface>PC/Mac>launch S-gear. Listen through monitor speakers or headphones, as normal speakers will sound muffled.

Maybe use the free trial before splashing your hard earned cash

  • I have the older models of S-Gear and out of all the modellers, along with Neural, it is the most natural and immediate to enjoy playing. Some heavy stuff but mostly more clean/mid to heavy tuning for rock. Neural still does metal and down tuned best.
    This is for the rest!

    • Exactly my experience too. Neural nails the heavier and djent stuff.
