Hope this means a big shipment of the dual battery steel deck ozito mowers is on its way to bunnings…

    • Are they worth it compared to the Aldi steel deck version? Doesn't look like Aldi is doing the steel deck this time round though?

Just looking at the icon of the link, I got excited thinking it was a remote control lawn mower!

    • Oh good, it wasn’t just me!

    • Looks like the black edition of WORX robo mower….

  • What is the approx runtime on a fully charged battery? Could not find this info anywhere. Has anyone used this brand mower before?

    • +2

I have a smallish front yard of about 50 square metres and can get it done about 4 times before it needs recharging.

    • Got this mower last time it was on sale in October.

Ran it for about 15 mins to do my backyard and one battery was 90% and the other 88% remaining.

  • +2

hopefully Ozito comes the the table and reduces their 36v mowers!

The 18v mower is a beast for what it is.

  • +1

My neighbor has played around with the ozito and other cheap electric mowers. They always bog down in reasonably heavy grass. I bought a Stihl and it's been bullet proof. I think worth spending the extra money on these.

  • Anyone know based on previous sales, is this likely to sell out? or likely to be discounted?

  • +3

Got ego, seems to be great

    • +8

It would want to be for 4x the price..

  • Is this one any good ?

    • +3

Great bang for the buck. Lightweight, battery lasts ages.Doesn’t give the lowest cut, but depending on your type of grass, not always good to cut it super low. Mines been going strong for over a year.

  • What does it mean to be a 'kit'?

    • +2

Kit = item + battery + charger while Skin = item only.

This mower has been doing a very good job with a backyard if Kikuyu and front yard of SWB. The blade has needed to be sharpened one or twice due to small rocks/tanbark etc but overall its been a great value buy. Keep an eye out for the 4-in-1 kit with the lawn edger, line trimmer, tree pruner and hedge trimmer.

    • How easily does this Aldi mower fold down? Hoping you can shed some light for me. For reference, I think the equivalent Ozito does a good job (photo #3)

      • +1

Tbh I've never tried. I'll take a look tomorrow.

        • I'd really appreciate that if you can 🙏

          • +1

@tomclancy: It does fold over, if you pm me your email address, I'll send through photos. I would describe it as compact, unless you significantly loosened the mid-section.

  • This or the $250 petrol one at Bunnings? It apparently has a Briggs & Stratton motor.

    • +1

      That all depends.

      • Small yard, limited space to store.

    • +3

Once you have used battery (a good one) you would never go back to petrol.

  • May i ask when does usually Aldi has this available in the Sat?

    • Sometimes they put them out just before closing the day before; or wheel them out when they open.

    • Ringwood was putting them out last night (but not for sale until today).
So most should be there when they open, I'd expect.

  • I managed to score 1 out of the 4 available …

    • Which store?

  • Cant seem to find this in the western Melbourne :(

  • Managed to get one, but I think i'm going to return it. As a few people have mentioned, it doesn't cut quite low enough for me. More importantly, even at 40v it's a bit gutless. Bogs down very quickly in thicker (not long) grass

    • where are you based? can take it off your hands?

  • Does anyone else who bought it find that the battery charger seems to get hot?

If mine got any hotter I would call it concerning. It seems to get hotter as the battery gets closer to fully charged (e.g. anything around 90% and it's getting pretty hot). At this stage I wouldn't have confidence in this charger running while I'm away from the property.

It says that the output is 20 V / 2.4 A, which is a bit higher than an 18 V / 2.0 A Ryobi charger that I have, but the Ferrex charger seems to charge a lot faster. The Ryobi vs Ferrex batteries are physically different shapes - it doesn't seem like they want you to mix and match.

Weird Bunnings didnt match the Ozito this time round

    • Which Bunnings did you go to?

  • Have these been discounted yet?

    • +1

Aldi generally reduced discounts special buys four weeks after the sale date. While the mower will be reduced in price, I doubt you’d find any stock at that time.
All the stores near mine sold out of the mowers within half an hour.

  • First Saturday morning lap around the estate with the new mower.
Excellent unit. Followed all the instructions re charging the batteries, and it took half the time I used to spend with an electric, corded mower. Less effort too. Ran it on the second-lowest setting, catcher did not clog and everything worked efficiently.
When it was finished, one battery was down to 05 and the other was 100.
Takes a while to get used to the 1-2 second delay to start it up.
Very happy with the result, lets see how it lasts.

    • +1

From what I understand, the mower should be drawing power from both batteries pretty much equally. I did my first mow yesterday and one battery was down to 85% and the other 86%.

      • That's odd. Maybe it was a display that I mis-read. I'll check it out when I have time

        • How did you go?

          • @MKBHD: Sorry for the slow reply, I just saw your question.
I just used the mower for the second time, around 1hr of use (I did next door's nature strip while I had a head of steam up).
I started at 100 percent on both batteries and when I stopped one battery was at 22 and one at 35.
            Hope that helps
