I was going to buy the pair for $42, but they've only got shoe sizes for ants. :-(

  • Anyone can comment about the quality ?

    • +4

don't know about these specific models. But i can vouch for newbalance as a whole, have been buying new balance for a very long time, have always had good quality and good use out of them.

      • Are sizes consistent across different models?

        • +1

their usually consistent across different categories
i.e. all trail's fit the same
all performance runners fit the same
          etc.

Even when checking fitment between categories they tend to be pretty close, where they differ is when the different categories intended form is a bit different makes it feel different. i.e. all performance runers tend to have a thinner tighter fit than that of a trail or gym shoe.

you can find the categories types on the newbalance site.

      • Thanks, always buy from adidas, but wiling to try ? Do you know about return policy by any chance ?

      • +1

I wouldn't say the cheaper brands of runners of new balance are that great.

Its around the 100 dollar range (150+RRP) that they feel sturdy.

        • Agreed, I only buy NB and have done so for many years. But the cheaper ones can be trash quality.

    Are these dad approved?

    • Absolutely, yes. Moreso if they've got a 12 2E in stock.

      EDIT: they do not.

      • Only went as high as 12, Kids sizes only it seems…

  • It's all I wear. Laces are very short though.

  • Got the 237 for $35
    Cheers

  • Gotta hand it to NB, for every ‘normal’ CW they got about 50 far out wild CW that has such niche everyday application.

  • eBay sale has been on for a while, I got XC-72 for $52-$54

They were so expensive at retailers, and they look much better in person!

eBay plus has good returns so took a chance.

  • Ordered, thanks OP

The fun the marketing guys must have writing up the shoe descriptions. I’m sure they have a good laugh amongst themselves. The above shoes:
“Inspired by the speculative technological optimism of concept car design, New Balance’s new XC-72 model reimagines its 1970s source material as a boundary erasing contemporary statement. The XC-72 is the future that the past dreamed about, come to life [Dads and Grandpas, are you listening?]. As part of the Lunar New Year collection, the XC-72 helps to usher in the Year of the Tiger… etc.

        • I got mine, they look good in person and they're really comfortable.

I got the most normal cream colour tho

eBay seems like a tired old car compared to Amazon

    • +3

eBay is like a dodgy back street market full of rogues & ripoff merchants, whereas Amazon comes across as more of a high street store with a bit of credibility.

Thanks OP, just snagged a pair of 9.5 2E.

    • And my money was refunded after a few days. OOS. Grrr.

  • I heard a reference in a teen show that NB were “old people’s shoes” - is that the perception these days?

    • +2

Yup (is a dad has ozb nb shoes…)

    • This more applies to the chunky white sneakers that look as plain as they come. Some of the more styled sneakers are fine though.

    • +11

I found them to be extremely comfy so tweens can go fack themselves.

    • +1

i'm happy with that perception. means i won't get mugged for my shoes.

  • +2

Thanks OP. I didn't get the shoes you posted but found others that fit me.

  • It's a shame they don't have any in men's sizes
