  • As a snowboarder with no more wrists, I'd recommend just getting decent mitts and cheap wrist guards. They tend to be more annoying than useful long term.

You should have mastered the 'how to fall for the least pain and damage' after a week and probably progress to the 'not falling much' stage after 1 to 2 weeks. Won't need guards after that so hiring or borrowing wrist guards makes more sense.

  • Great find for those that can afford to snowboard overseas.

    • Snowboarding in Australia is also possible. But if you can afford to do that you can also probably afford overseas.

      • Possible yes. But when you've boarded overseas a few times it hardly seems worth it. Poor snow, high prices.

  • Ahhh interesting… legit fell snowboarding in Japan a couple days ago and wrist was sore for a good day afterwards

  • +1

For some reason snowboarding with fingered gloves is uncool…but I like our evolved fingers…so I don't use mittens.

I've boarded for years. Always still wear my wrist guards. Almost never need them..but there is that one fall at the end of the day with tired legs…when your brain is in switch off mode at the end of a run…Dakine gear is also excellent quality.

    • Ha, I'm exactly the same. I hear some of the cool kids with more protective instinct prefer hidden wrist guards stealthily hidden underneath non-wristguard gloves because visual protective gear is like so not cool — don't know what it says about me that I'll happily take the hit to my visual coolness to get good protection with fewer items that I'm guaranteed to forget at home, the snow accom or the lunch / mid-arvo drink stopover… :)
