I know it was an attempt at humour, but making a joke about homeless really is scummy. I can tell you from experience that there's nothing funny about being homeless.

These are a life saver at the beach with the kids. Makes a 34 degree day in the sun actually tolerable.

  • Looks no different to other Ebay beach tent, anyone used it before?

Not Instant-Up setup, forget about it!

    • How these works?

Yeh agree was gonna buy until sw this. Not gonna deal with poles on the beach… get sick of it quickly

      • Same here! I’m checking with a friend as they bought some pop up from Amazon but on this merchant website I found this one which is a pop up one with no poles. Wish it was on sale for $39 too but I guess at that price it’s still ok? $74.50 plus delivery

Correct. Instant pop up is the way to go for the beach. Also make sure the material layer is high heat reflection too.

Not sure about this one but I’ve always found this style of shade hot to spend time in.

Seems the trend has moved into those beach cabanas. Anyone rocking on of those? Claim of 2-min setup time, no walls and look almost tall enough to stand under.

Yep have a cool cabana (from recent yellow tail promo). Easy to set up. Does well in mild to moderate wind (havent tried in heavy wind). Heavy to carry to beach. Too low to stand under. Shaded area isn’t necessarily where cabana is depending on time of day. Overall good but happy to have paid the discounted price. I still feel a smaller lower angled beach tent type thing would have it’s merits as well.

      • Link plz?

This was the deal - it’s now expired, not without controversy. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/734414

          • @morse: What controversy happened?

Ok so these cabanas are good but due to the sun moving this wouldn’t get shade all the time until mid day..? How do you get around this? Unless there’s some shade that it comes out from the main legs?

            • @prankster: They were Taking a long time to verify receipts, and not doing it in order that people submitted so people weren’t sure after spending $40ish on average wine if they’d get the deal. Then they ran out of stock, then they offered some new colours but took away free postage. Then they cancelled the entire promo early.

You can get a side wall for them but I think most people just move where they sit according to time of day. Not suitable for crowded beaches in my opinion as people then take up the shaded area around their cabana too.

In general beach etiquette is starting to slide in Australia. I was an echo beach in Tallebudgera creek at high tide and there was a group of three reserving a much bigger space with towels they were using for people who ended up coming over an hour later when there was hardly sand for people who were actually there to sit on. Similarly I think there’s a time and a place for these cabanas.

  • I hate it when someone sets a shade like this up in front of you. Blocks your view. Beauty of the cabana is you can generally see through them.

  • We have a similar style but with windows and I think unless you have windows it gets way too hot. No breeze.
