  • How does this compare to this one https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/xiaomi-smartmi-pedestal-fan-3-x…

    Other than battery.

    • +2

Build quality is better for the Xiaomi, the Viomi looks cheaper.

  • Code not working for anyone else?

    • Bought one thru mobile citi ~5min ago

  • i bought three from Aldi.. its quiet and DC motor helps you keep the bills low..

No issues, having a remote is super helpful. Like others said the height may be an issue for some as you can't adjust. Cord is short so you need an extension to place where you want.

    • have you been able to set up this on google home

  • Has anyone ran these fans on a regular basis? If so, how well do they run after say 1 year? Keen to get some real world feedback.

We have had a few fans over the years, most are typically on for at least 12hrs daily. Based on our experience, the Sunbeam FA8900 only last for about a year before they stopped functioning properly (all 3 units had similar mileage). The ones which has worked well for us is the Mitsubishi Electric LV16 and the Malaysian made Panasonic pedestal fans.

  • Oos

  • Looks like they are OOS everywhere now.

  • OMG, I had it in cart ready to buy but had to run to shops. Sold out out now. Bugger.

    • +1

      I mean, wasnt gonna last

  • +1

using it now, pretty good. I must say i wish there was a setting 2.5

    • +1

What do you mean? Using the app you can set from 1% to 100% power. Enough steps for me. Remote is more limited.

  • Will ebay cancel the order due to promo code error?

    • +1

Why would they? eBay is not the seller. And some sellers have already packed, printed shipping label or shipped item with JANHNG already.

    • +1

Highly unlikely, with so many different sellers (for various items) involved that they would need to inform and strike a deal with.

More likely that someone from marketing will start looking for a new job though. Total losses caused to eBay by what probably was a typo will be well in excess of $100k.

      • 100k? peanuts for ebay!

By the way mobileciti still hasn't posted my fan. They might be out of stock or negotiating with ebay.

  • Just got shipping notification from iot.hub!

    • Fancy that, so did I - this is fantastic! Almost feels like a fantasy.

    • Same

  • Has anyone been able to setup on google home?

    • I've got a hardware work around working.

    • These won't work with voice assistants directly unfortunately.

      • Though the voice assistant is limited. I can ask google to turn the fan on/off and the swing function on/off. The fan keeps the same level of power from when I last turned it off.

I think this is useful enough in terms of voice commands.

If I need to change specific settings, I just go into the Broadlink or the Xiaomi Home app.

  • I turned off the indicator light with the Xiaomi Home app but by the time I press the button on the fan the WiFi light would come back on and won't turn off until I turned it on and off again on the app.

Any idea? Very bright at night.

      • For some reason the wifi light didn't turn on anymore even after reset but the other two fans wifi light still always on.

The difference is the firmware, this one is 2.1.8.0013, the other two are 2.2.0.0013, not sure if the wifi light is dead or not, anyway not that important.

        • Was just having a look at mine (which I got from Aldi). On firmware 2.2.6.0013 and after turning off indicators in the app, the lights go off ok but when I switch off the fan (whether by button or app) the wifi light comes on and stays on while it's in standby. After turning on the fan or pressing a button, the lights turn on but then go out after about 8 seconds (including wifi).

I'm wondering if these are all the exact same model too as Aldi was old stock they must have picked up, production date of 2021.09! The model number is VXFSWX12A-Z, that the same as yours?

          • @bamzero: The WiFi light on my 2.1.8.0013 one use to always on, just happened yesterday.

  • Oscillation doesn't seem to be working.

Perhaps I tightened things up too much?

    Any ideas?

    • Perhaps I tightened things up too much?

What have you tightened? Except the blades nothing need to tightened?

  • Arrived.

  • Has anyone else had their mobileciti order not yet shipped.
Paid more for express shipping in the hopes of getting it by Saturday. Estimated delivery was 11-12 Jan.

    • Paid more for express shipping i

Ask them to refund the express shipping postage

      • Yeah, iot.hub used parcel post and I just received it today in Melb.

        • I received mine from iot.hub yesterday. BTW the quality of material is very cheap, it's even worse than the box fan from bunnies. However the function of the fan is good.

          • @wlqrichard: Hi mate, my fan arrived yesterday. However after assembly am unable to turn on the fan. It makes some squeaky sound when I turn the power on. But fan isn’t turning on. No lights showing . Is there any trick am missing ?

            • +1

@seven7: Remove the blades and the locks and see if the motor is actually working.

            • +1

@seven7: Not quiet sure. I assume you have try to reinstall the unit or trying to plug in the power block properly. Contact the seller, I guess it's a defect unit.

              • @wlqrichard: Thanks ! It turned on after adjusting the motor position. However it turns off automatically when I turn on the swing function. Must be a defective unit.

          • @wlqrichard:

it's even worse than the box fan from bunnies. However the function of the fan is good.

It did the job well, a lot better than cheap bunnies one.

  • Hey guys,

I got two questions. Can anyone help ?

    1. The fan switches off automatically when I turn on the swing function. I have

    2. Is the fan a dwarf size pedestal fan ? I was hoping it to be a regular size pedestal fan. And I don’t see the option to adjust its size

  • Finally received my fan from mobileciti. I paid extra for express shipping but took longer than normal postage!

It's working OK but looks like a toy. Small, too light, flimsy and plasticy. If I had physically seen this in a store I wouldn't have paid $54 for it.

    • +1

      too light, flimsy and plasticy

It did the job well, only the plastic not as good as the Xiaomi one.

Light, plasticy didn't mean it is not good, I have Kmart one, heavy and metal fan but not as good as this one.

  • +1

Mine is definitely preloved. Anyone else’s come used?

    • Yep. The front cover on mine is yellow and has a crack in it.

  • My fan turns off randomly and back on every 30 seconds or so. Even though I set it on Standard mode and swing is off.

    Another defective unit?

    • Same issue - anyone got any ideas?

      • I just contacted that seller (iot.hub).

Out of curiosity, which store did you buy from?

I wonder if it was a bad batch

        • iot.hub as well!

    • I got one from Aldi and when it's on full speed after a while it turns off (or drops speed) for a few seconds then returns to full speed, though not that frequently. Don't know exactly how long between but definitely not every 30 seconds, more an every now and again thing and I've only ever seen while at full speed. I'm wondering if it has some sort of thermal protection?

      • Try take the blade and cover out and turn it on at full speed and see if it do that again

        • It runs for hours before I've seen it happen.

          • @bamzero: I think mine does that, I can hear it slowing down and ramping back up after high usage.
